Discussion Different between the B-Wing and 170 is pretty crazy

Costs 1 more point, and it gets 2 more health and counter 1.

And the dice suite isn't exactly worse

Its been a long time but I think blue black hits for more consistent damage?

More consistent, higher damage spike. And Rebels get Toryn who can reroll all of its blue dice. No other faction has an officer that reliable.

Toryn only lets you reroll one blue die for an attack.

"All" as in both its anti-squad and bombing blue dice

But for the B-Wing having only one blue dice, it’s technically correct to say ALL, so give him a pass on his grammar usage.

Rules should always come first. I agree. Ok then!

When compared straight against each other sure. When you bring in supporting ships/upgrades like yavaris plus torvyn the comparison becomes more difficult. Honestly the yavaris was a mistake imo because it so heavily affects squadrons all the future squadron mechanics had to be built with it in the game

B-Wings definitely need a health buff

Having played the X-Wing PC games for 30+ years , the B-Wings are too slow and squishy and the Y-Wings too fast and armored. I’d give the B 3-6 and the Y 2-5 and then I’d be happy and feel they are lore accurate.

God I wish we got a new X-Wing or TIE Fighter. Squadrons was good but it didn’t scratch the same itch

Agreed. What is basically an on-rails shooter doesn’t compare to the ability to free roam that the X-Wing games have.

Alliance was toying with Open World before that was even a thing, as you could sometimes have four different Zones to hyper between with persistent action happening in all of them.

With graphics mods and updates, it almost looks better than squadrons.

Blue-Black antiship for Bwing and RBB antisquad for ARC170 is the difference.

Black hits way more consistently for ships and red is much more swingy for squads.

ARC is still the better squad but not as much as you might think OP.

Anecdotal, but I think I've done a grand total of 2 damage from an arc's counter attacks in the last five years.

I think both prices are fair. Rebels have so much tech to make the technically-better dice on the B-Wing more consistent, and generally get way more out of a squad activation. Both are severely held back by speed-2; neither faction has a great way to mitigate this.

Anyway, good work to not show any of the aces. Oddball is a sad joke, while Keyan has the best bombing dice in the game still, and Ten Nunb is an absolute gigachad all around.

Yeah, I personally think B-wings are really weak on their own and the ARC-170's are pretty strong. It's why you basically never see B-wings played.

Is that sarcasm? Sorry not tied into meta but I heard b-wings used to be everywhere.

They are just extremely slow which make them very hard to get into position and very easy for an enemy to alpha strike them with their own squadrons.

This mean you have to invest in them to add in movement tricks to speed them up. Which also means you probably aren't going to run a light screen, you will probably be heavily investing int squadrons to make them work.

I just think there are a lost stronger Rebel Squadron balls you could be playing.

Do you have some examples?

Examples of what? Better Rebel Squadron balls?

The basic one is Biggs, Jan, Gallant Haven and a bunch of X-wings.

Yeah that's the only combo I know of, curious what else people run

ARC is tankier and has counter. B-wing has slightly better bombing dice and more consistent anti-squad dice (although not strictly better). 1pt difference seems right.

I never take B's because at speed 2, I gave to find ways to get them where I need them (Rapid Launch Bays, All Fighters Follow Me!, etc.).

This leads to unique situations such as;

1) Having a Pelta loaded with 3x B Wings in an RLB get one shot killed before activation.

2) Getting Boarded and losing RLB before launching the B's.

I lost both games massively.

A lot of the Clone Wars stuff is basically buffed (or nerfed) GCW stuff. The GAR Y Wing is strictly better than the Rebels YWing. The V19 is a better Xwing (cuz its 1 cheaper). The Deltas are completely over-costed tho. Not sure how they landed on 17 pts.

When you move to the ships, a Clams fix VSD's main problem by having speed 3. The Pelta is a good, uh.. Pelta cuz it's way cheaper than the Rebel one. I'd even argue the Venators are better than the ISDs just cuz theyre 20-30 pts cheaper and have access to Tranquility. Then the red C70's are nerfed CR90As (but still good). And the blue C70s are cheaper and more deadly than the CR90Bs.

Then on CIS side, the Vultures, Tris, and Hyenas are all better version of the TIEs. The Belbula or whatever is dogshit.

A Hardcell is a good Neb-B. A Providence is basically a good version of the MC75. Better arcs, better dice, better squad value, better upgrades. The Recuscant is a great version of the LMC80. Super maneuverable speed 3 large, glass cannon, but hits like a truck. And then the Muni tries to improve the AF. It's got better arcs and front dice, but losing speed 3 is too much.
