Discussion I always struggle making Piett work

Post image

I want to stick him on an SSD, because I'm a sucker for the Battle of Endor, but I always struggle picking him over Jerjerrod.

If I navigate by default and use Take Evasive Action on a Command Prototype, he has one less Yaw than Jerry. If I squadron by default and use Vanto to get me nav tokens, it doesn't feel any more consistent. And if I comms net with a Gozanti, it cuts into the points I could be using for squadrons.

Are there any experienced Piett users that can lend lists that can help Piett feel less like I'm taking the incorrect action?

Two options.

Interdictor with title creates a discount thrawn.

The ssd is great too. I prefer dreadnought prototype. Start with a nav command then firepower engineering. Have gozantis feeding it. Becomes more tanky than Jerry. I flew one against Jerry before and won because I was able to repair more. Yes Jerry does better with position but piett survives longer.

Yes. I ran something like this in previous tournaments and did very well. The double acc from quad guns really kills smalls but your build is good too.

Combine him with Commander Vanto. You get a token of your choice via Vanto after resolving your dial, then use Piett to make it a full second command dial. You basically get a second Command of your choice for free when you activate. Makes you super flexible. However keep the timing in mind. Works best when you spam Repair or Squad Commands. Great on big Ships.

My favorite Commander.

Also dont worry about squads. And ssd is trying to throw lots of dice to nuke enemy ships. Bring the upgrade that gives counter against squads and either flak guns to make the counter a black dice or point defense Reroute to recollection. Yes they will bomb you but you can swat many of their squads away while killing their ships.

Its a fun squad ball.

I've also enjoyed using all rogues with the ssd. Its just rough with only a single activation.

My normal Piett fleet is a Sovereign ISD (usually a II but sometimes a Kuat) with Grint as the officer - if you choose nav for Grint you can nav every turn and get whatever token you need the turn after with Sovereign - pair it with whatever other support ship you want - I usually play a Vic2 with GT and a munitions Goz so I get a confire dial every turn from Piett while still being able to nav with the Vic as well!

I had an enjoyable list using Piett/Yularen combo with an ISD II, Arquitens and Gozanti plus 8 squads centred around Vader Defender, Maarek and Jendon.
