Is Republican Brad Christ trying to trick voters with blue images
Got a text from the Brad Christ campaign trying to get votes. Every other sign/ad I’ve ever seen from him has been red. He’s a dyed in the wool conservative.
But this was the image that came with the text. Republicans know he’s a republican and he’ll get their vote, but uninformed independent or liberal-leaning voters may fall for this and get him some extra votes.

We have a race in MO-2!
Fox News just moved my race from Likely R to Lean R. This comes two weeks after Larry Sabato's Crystal Ball did the same and a Remington Poll showed us in a statistical dead heat within one point. Remember that early voting starts on October 20th and we could use your help both with donations to fight the crazy ads Ann is running, and your volunteer time to knock doors for us or phone bank. We're not done yet. It's time for change! WellmanforMO.com
Get your pork steaks ready, Maull’s is back!
Evidently they are targeting a December 1 relaunch in Dierbergs and Schnucks stores using the original recipes. Rejoice my fellow hoosiers!

News Watch out for this man
There has been a man named MJ/Norris on delmar these past two weeks harassing and stealing from business owners, groping strangers, yelling obscenities, and had flashed someone inside of sunshine daydream.
MJ has had the police called on him numerous times, every time they never arrest him and call it a day. The most recent time he was handcuffed, but either his handlers/family members had a discussion with the police and he was let go.
MJ has been harassing my friend and saying my friend is his “boyfriend” and that this man fucked him. Please make sure to watch out for him because he can be deceivingly nice, but he is not the nice man he comes off as.

Traffic/Road Conditions Reflective Paint
What does a bitch need to do to get the city to use reflective paint on the streets.
It’s difficult to see lanes at night. It’s IMPOSSIBLE to see lanes at night in the rain.
Is anyone else as furious and flabbergasted by this as I am?

MEETUP 2nd Moms Who Play Magic Meetup!
Editing my post because I put this up while my 4 year old was asking me to have a pillow fight with him haha
I came up with this idea with my sister while we were sharing how we want to meet other moms and get out of the house, but sometimes struggle with finding things in common with other moms as well.
If you're a mom who plays Magic, wants to learn how to play, or even if you didn't know Magic meant something other than magic tricks, then please stop by!
We will have a beginner/new player table for anyone who wants to start learning! And hey, free food!
We had our first ever Moms Who Play Magic meetup last month, and we had a great time! We hope to see some Magical Moms come out and run a few games with us!

Who wants to learn how to be a Ninja?
No. Its not what you think.
Look, I grew up in the 80s. I LOVED the Ninja movies, took karate, subscribed to Black Belt and Combat magazines, bought countless books by Stephen K Hayes (and actually READ them), had my grandma sew me a full-on Ninja outfit, and with the help of one of my best friends down the street, stalked the alley garage roofs, hid in plain sight and mastered the art of Nunchakus (with only a couple of minor head injuries). I mean sure…the nunchucks were a broom handle, sawed in half, spray painted black, attached by chain and some eye hooks.
I would eventually find Ninpo Taijutsu, where I attained a black belt (understanding that their belt progression goes White>Green>Black…so…there’s that…)
The other day I was going through my storage tubs in the garage and came across one that had ALL of my old magazines and books nicely packed away by my Mom many years ago.
I started reminiscing about those days. In the ‘70s and ‘80s, when I was growing up, we had a “Clubhouse” that consisted of a hollowed-out hedge row in some strangers back yard, located in the alley between Walsh and Delor. We cleaned out the brush in the middle, put some old moldy carpet down and attained a number of milk crates for seating.
If somebody brought their cousin over, who was staying for the week, they would introduce them, we just said “hi” and then someone suggested taking our bikes and going down to Francis Park to jump the creek. That was all it took to become a member of our club.
But I digress. The point is, I’ve been kicking around trying to start an ADULT social club for a while now. A while back, I was offered the space where Hampton House liquors used to be, for a ridiculously low price. I had considered starting a D&D club, but never got any real interest.
After seeing those books, I thought about how much fun it would be to get a bunch of Gen Xers together and start a Ninja Dojo. Not seriously, but as a way to get some stretches in, maybe some calisthenics and we could go through my tub and pick out an old issue of Black Belt and master the moves in there. Nothing serious. Probably drinking a beer. Definitely with knees firmly ensconced in neoprene braces.
So, here's the thing. I'm retired at 56. I'm bored. I've also got a plethora of real-world skills that are slowly atrophying from lack of use.
I got to thinking. You ever heard of the Merry Pranksters? The Shriners? Habitat for Humanity?
What if we combined all three? A bunch of us getting together, having fun, stirring up some harmless mischief, and occasionally doing something good for the community.
And maybe we could bring some Gen Zers, or any Gen for that matter, along for the ride. They're growing up in a world that's a hell of a lot different from the one we knew. We've got skills and experiences we could pass along, and I'm sure they've got a few things they could teach us.
Basically, a bunch of overgrown kids with adult skills, questionable knees, and absolutely no intention of acting our age.
We could probably use the old Hampton House Liquors location as a temporary HQ, but eventually we'd need a better FOB to practice our Ninja skills. Probably a small warehouse or something. I've got three undeveloped lots over on Bingham we could use for outdoor activities in the meantime (lots of climbable trees available).
Once we get some members together, we can get into the weeds about which charities we'd like to support, where we want to establish our permanent HQ, how much membership dues should be, and the most important decision of all...where we put the keg fridge in the clubhouse.
Remember my story about our childhood clubhouse? Anybody was welcome, and that's the ONLY kind of club I'd want to be part of. (I do want to emphasize, adults only…the last thing we need is a bunch of kiddos running around our dojo where lots of shiny weapons, whether real or pictures of, are mounted on the walls). BUT…if I had my druthers, I would love to have the following filling out our ranks:
Graphic Designers
Artists
Theater Set Designers
Parade Float Designers
Tailors
Blacksmiths
Cobblers
Cosplayer costume makers
Construction Trades People (retired or active)
Rock Climbers
Hackers
Doc Forgers
EMTs (Defs going to need this one in-house)
Truck Drivers
Real Estate Professionals
Candlestick Makers
Professional Ice Hockey Players (retired or active)
Nuclear Medicine Techs
Oh…and we’re STILL going to get a couple of tables of Dungeons and Dragons going!
So…all you people that are CONSTANTLY posting how you don’t know how to get involved and make friends? A door made out of rice paper and bamboo is slowly sliding open for you. Will you step in or run for the hills of Iga?
I’ve put together a temporary website to gauge interest. However, reddit wont let me post it here because it's a new website or whateves. If you are interested, DM me and I'll give you the link, visit and select option 6 and fill out the form. My HTML skillz are suspect, so I covered the glaring mistakes with an 80s style BBS. Enjoy!
And yes…you can turn the music off.
EDIT: It won't even let me give out the web address in the DMs. :(
I'll work on a real site tonight and have something up tomorrow.

Ask STL Books on St. Louis?
I’ve been gone for nearly 20 years and am so homesick! We are looking at returning next year but things are up in the air.
I’m an avid reader, and would love to hear your recommendations on books-history, food, culture, etc with a St Louis connection. I hope it’ll help with my homesickness!
I prefer nonfiction but am open to anything!

mental health support in stl
hi everyone, I know this isn’t super relevant and before I get into it I have tried to research through google for other resources but I thought it might be nice to get some insight from actual humans with actual experience that are in the same area as me but okay essentially my mental health is really really poor at the moment and I just wanted to see if anyone has anything or knows of anything that has worked for them that’s local. I won’t get into what exactly is happening for the sake of not making this a novel but it’s become very hard just to wake up in the morning and feel even 1% motivated to get through the day without wanting to ☠️ and I have past experiences with hospitalization (in a few places outside of MO but also I had a stay at SLU) that I would really like to avoid if possible but I’m open to anything that has worked. $$$ is kinda tight at the moment truth be told and I’m close to the city but am willing to travel a bit if necessary. thank you all so much in advance ❤️

Metrolink to airport (update)
Terminal 1 station is closed, Metrolink failed to tell people they need to get off at Hanley and take a “shuttle train” to Terminal 2 and if you’re going to terminal 1 get off at terminal 2 and take a shuttle from there. There is no schedule with the shuttle train or urgency,
Metrolink claims on the rider alert that it will be a “few minutes delay” however this process will set you back 30-45 minutes (they’ve emailed me saying this exact time frame) yet they still will not update anything with those times, which could cause many employees and passengers to be late.
Just a warning if going to the airport on metrolink, it says this will go on until December 28th. Metrolink does not want to publish accurate and truthful information.

My childhood trips to St. Louis inspired this Halloween kids adventure story and now we’re developing a movie!
When we were kids, there were a bunch of family day trip destinations right outside of St. Louis. Many were well-known.
Like Grant’s Farm. An estate owned by the Anheuser-Busch family where we’d go on carriage rides with the Clydesdales from the Budweiser commercials.
Or Johnson’s Shut-Ins. A beautiful, all-natural swimming area where the Black River collided with volcanic rocks.
Others were a bit more dubious.
Take Wet Willy’s. A massive concrete waterslide we’d go sailing down, clinging to moldy foam mats. As an attorney, I’m sure that place has been shut down eons ago from God knows how many different kinds of lawsuits.
But then there’s a place very few people knew about. A place we kept secret. And that’s where we’re pulling up now: Lantern Hill.
Like Grant’s Farm, it’s a large estate owned by a prominent family.
But that’s where the similarities end.
We all know where the Anheusers and the Busches got their money: beer.
Nobody has any idea how the Bedwell family came to afford their massive property. We don’t know much about the family at all. Over the years, they’ve kept to themselves.
Yet, sometime in the 80s, my Aunt Carole heard through a friend at the PTA that they were hosting hayrides on their property, opening up their pumpkin patch to the public, and inviting families to carve jack-o’-lanterns.
Just the kind of thing Aunt Carole thought sounded “awesome” and us kids thought: lame.
But Lantern Hill turned out to be a lot more interesting.
—
This is an excerpt from the short story “the secret of lantern hill.” If you’re intrigued you can read the story here (for free of course)
