False Finish: group leader asked WWE to bring spoiler into the group. RAW SPOILERS Spoiler

I don’t know if this is true but it’ll be my head canon from now on.

I suspect the truth is somewhere in the middle. Hayes ended up off TV, and then while he was off Royce asked & they intentionally kept Hayes off TV for longer to build the shock/“allow time to breathe before the change”.
Though it wouldn’t surprise me at all if WWE’s loyalest soldiers will now claim this was always a part of the plan and that’s why Hayes was so inconsistently used the entire time he was. Cleanly and neatly sweeping the criticism under the rug.

Lol the victory laps from WWE homers against fans who rightly criticized Melo's booking since WM just because he had this one moment crack me up.
Let's see if they actually do anything good with his character in this faction first, eh? Dude has been cooled off for months, even though he did fantastic work in the Smackdown midcard.

Royce must’ve really impressed the higher ups if he was able to request OTM and Melo to be part of his faction

u/Capable-Education724 2h ago
Or, Cody at least.

u/CrimsonJoker13 2h ago
Jade did insist that Cody was big on pushing and standing up for black talent.

Wrestling's greatest civil rights activist.
I mean, Sputnik Monroe actually is, but saying Cody is is funny.

u/DAnthony24 2h ago
Sputnik is a legend. Started a Memphis wrestling book, he was obviously instrumental, that i should finish. Appreciate you

You can't just say that without dropping the name of the book mang, I want to read too

I feel like, in his own way, Cody is actively trying to make the world a better place. He's a little full of himself, he doesn't have the greatest self-reflection, and he's made some eyebrow raising choices lately but I think he's trying. Or at least, I think he believes he's trying. And he did help build a wrestling company that treats its people way better than WWE did.

Wrestling's greatest civil rights activist
Thought that was Edge!

Cody probably knows how good he is from AEW
And if you have Cody vouching for you, you're gonna at least get a chance
9
u/Capable-Education724 2h ago
Oh yeah, I meant he was tight with Royce from back in the day and probably talked him up to brass.

Eh if the Cody pull had that much sway then Ricky sharks would be doing something substantial
4
u/romXXII if you don't have him on speed dial, you're a mark. 1h ago
True. Let's give Royce some credit. If all it took was Cody's word, Ricky would also over the edge.

From the get go it seems WWE has valued Royce more than other ex-AEW signings who also hadn't been in WWE before.
Skipped NXT and got a Steph interview in record time.

It probably helps he's asking to work with talent that weren't really doing major things. They want him to be successful because they see big things in him and his requests aren't hard to do and they benefit him. Sometimes booking requests are just beneficial to everyone.

u/Trumppered 26m ago
That Steph interview seemed to suggest WWE had a role for him already either in creative or as a trainer... which considering he had nothing with WWE at all at that point struck me as odd.
Must have really impressed people back stage 1 way or another.

There were reports months ago that WWE was high on him. Just because it isn't translating to being super over with the crowd doesn't mean the company isn't big on someone. Damian Priest is another one who they love even though his stardom has kind of dwindled since the initial post-Judgment Day breakup feud ended.
I mean shit in Royce's first few months with the company they put more effort into getting him over than AEW did in years, but the sympathetic babyface thing just didn't suit him.

They also confirmed the original plan before melo accepted the invitation to join the group was for him to dethrone Trick Williams for the US title. It was not stated when though

u/CrossingYoulnStyle 2h ago
So he’d probably turn heel either way. This might end up being better for him

The 946 couldn’t have asked for a better member to join their faction. Melo fits like a glove honestly love this for them

Royce has to be a future world champion
3
u/CrimsonJoker13 2h ago
Beats Roman, and then a face Senor Dinero en el Banco cashes in on the heel champion. Penta and Royce then have a proper rematch at the Rumble or Chamber.

One of my favourite reveals in a long time. I couldn’t believe it.
As others said, he is a great addition. Brings the natural flair charisma to compliment the overall toughness of the group.

Bro went from joking AEW to joining the 946 all in one afternoon (according to the internet)

Bullshit. Notice how the dirt sheets suddenly know everything AFTER it happened?
Why not give out this scoop this afternoon like that reddit user if they actually knew?

Some things you don’t spoil even you know what’s about to happen. Plus build trust with who the source is for anything in the future.

Cory Hays new site after he left Bodyslam. Very reputable when it comes to WWE, NXT and AAA insight

u/Top_Vermicelli1739 2h ago
I saw them first reporting the max caster news before TNA confirmed and I was skeptical. I’m starting to trust them now lol

u/Worth-Chemistry5253 ❤️🐾Perros Del Mal🐾❤️ 2h ago
Cory always gets the news first. He’s from Florida and is a regular for NXT tapings and he has to have a ton of sources there that have followed to the MR. But he knew Karmen and bronco were going to be joining Perros Del Mal before anyone, Blake signing, Cruz signing Paige re-signed before anyone, even as far has knowing Royce Keyes and Danhausen were jumping ship before any other insider.

He's probably the most reputable reporter on the scene currently
He doesn't really post wrong stuff and isn't a drama whore

Putting the word “false” in the name of your legitimate news site has to be a top 10 dumb business decision.

Cory Hays who used to be part of BodySlam, he's pretty accurate when it comes to WWE stuff.

Royce, I loved you before, but I’ll forever love you now for saving Melo from a pit of despair
