(Raw Spoilers): Closing shot of show. Spoiler

Every so often they’re right when they say watch and let things play out. Color me surprised

u/TLKv3 Fantasy Book For ^Vote 4h ago
I'm interested to see what they do with this group. One of them needs to get a Title on 'em sooner than later to truly solidify themselves as a "threat" to Champions.
My biggest fear right now is they're just perpetually stuck in midcard feuds with assortment teams and never actually accomplish anything.
78
u/Skeith_yip 4h ago
Yeah. With how strong they ended the show. Really hope they don’t get the Wyatt six treatment. Get the tag titles, lost it and got released.
29
u/TLKv3 Fantasy Book For ^Vote 3h ago
My biggest issue is with how WWE works, they never give a group more than two Titles. On top of that, they already have two groups that could tie 946 up for months and months between The Bloodline & Judgement Day.
I really hope they don't fall into that pitfall and let 946 win some Titles away from those groups and match up with other talent first before doing that.
4
3
u/CdotHYT 2h ago
Id say it's better for 946 to fight the vision (post or alongside BLine) if they're doing stable v stable. JDay has two cruiserweights, how would they ever realistically fight the 3.5 meatheads in 946. The women's side is also unbalanced.
But then I wouldn't want the Brons getting bogged down in midcard tag shite.
Is wargames 4v4 or 5? Id assume 5 with Jacob being the 5th.

u/TheXboxArtist 3h ago
To be fair, Bo got injured when they were hot, and took several weeks to recover. None of the others could cut a promo to keep any storyline going, which in hindsight, was a mistake in choosing the members.
9
u/Black_XistenZ 2h ago edited 2h ago
Imho, the whole gimmick of the Wyatt Six had no legs. It suffered from the exact same problem as The Fiend: translating the concept to in-ring action was nearly impossible.
Injury or not, it would have fizzled out sooner rather than later. Also, let's be brutally honest for a second: putting 6 undercarders who had failed in their previous iteration into a stable doesn't magically give them star power.
3
u/Reaper-Lord69 2h ago
Gacy is a pretty good promo ngl. He showed that on NXT when he was running his own cult
2
5
u/ImpactMiserable9384 3h ago
Yeah, I hope they don't get the Wyatt Six treatment and actually get to be a main event mainstay.
2
u/TheXboxArtist 3h ago
Bo getting injured right away sealed their fate. They lost the one member who could cut a promo.
5
u/No_Discussion3053 3h ago
It’s honestly set to where you could have the 946 hold a few titles. Each member slots into a different division.
2
u/jmpinstl 3h ago
I mean, The Bloodline’s been the center of the universe for pretty much the last six years. Consistently getting the best of them isn’t exactly nothing.
2
u/Black_XistenZ 2h ago
But then again... The Bloodline itself is a faction with a very steep kayfabe hierarchy. Unless and until the 946 actually get the better of Roman, laying out his henchmen means relatively little.
3
u/LazyResearcher1203 3h ago
Agreed! I don’t even remember who the tag champions are atm.
https://giphy.com/gifs/rI9O6UXkCjvTG2
u/Dabochman 2h ago
For the record it’s Breakker and Theory for the World Tag Titles and The Tongas for the WWE Tag Titles. I did admittedly have to google that for the WWE Tag Titles so your point is valid!
•
u/No_Addendum5504 21m ago
At least they are doing something with The tongans. They defended the titles & they are in a triple threat feud right now with Bakusai ( Nakamura & Kyoki " Hiromu Takahashi " ) and the Viking Raiders.
Bron & Theory ain't done shit in months. The world tag titles might be the most worthless titles since the start of TKO era
2
u/Moon_kid6 3h ago
I can’t help but see them as fodder for the Wargames match. Gotta feed someone to Roman and his family.
Love the group and hope for the best though.
1
u/notathrowaway75 1h ago
Keyes needs to get the world title. That's the only thing that will solidify this group that's repeating that no one's safe.
Roman should lose the Crown Jewel match which causes him to join the Bloodline at War Games. 946 beats them and take the belt.
•
u/Bean-Penis 27m ago
I mean that would be fine as long as they continued to get used. Companies need a mid and lower card.
-3
u/DrabMundanityGrinner 3h ago
better yet. let them not even bother with any title but just wreck mayhem.
8
u/TLKv3 Fantasy Book For ^Vote 3h ago
... but that literally serves 0 purpose. The entire point of dominating a roster is by taking the Titles from the rest of them and holding it over their heads.
-8
u/DrabMundanityGrinner 3h ago
too many titles. too many title matches. too many title changes. it's time to put the focus elsewhere than titles and silly stipulation matches. actual drama and story telling without the cheap crutches of gimmicks and titles.
7
u/TLKv3 Fantasy Book For ^Vote 3h ago
Then go watch any other TV show?
-5
u/DrabMundanityGrinner 3h ago
yep, cause the writers would rather cater to the fans that love lazy hotshot booking as they wonder why ratings and attendance is down. the wwe & aew is all yours now
enjoy all the nut shots and silly stunts.
11
u/R_W0bz 2h ago
Till they lose at war games then have zero momentum.
6
u/Trumppered 1h ago
right. i hate to be pessimistic but it sure seems like they exist solely to get build up as an "impressive" win for Roman + the Bloodline at War Games
238
u/EmergencyVictory4399 4h ago
I remember people were saying a few months ago that they were already wasting Royce Keys, unironically "Let it play out" actually worked here
91
u/bootygoon2 4h ago
I’m happily surprised by how hard they’re pushing Keys. I kinda assumed he would be someone who got a bit of a push at the start then got lost in the shuffle but they’ve pushed him really hard the last few months especially.
27
u/WrestleSocietyXShill Cero Miedo Since Day One Ish 3h ago
He ticks a lot of boxes for WWE. Success there is never a guarantee so I wouldn't have been shocked if he floundered and they wasted him, but I'm also not surprised to see him do well. Not that he was used poorly in AEW or anything, I loved his run there, but he's definitely a more natural fit in WWE with his particular skill set.
11
u/jin_of_the_gale 3h ago
I think even they know a guy his size not being pushed in any capacity would be a huge mistake. Before the fans see you wrestle, your look pretty much paints the first impression. It would be beyond silly for Keys not to be a major part of the show when you have guys way smaller than him tearing it up in the mid-upper mid card at the very least.
1
u/EmergencyAudience581 3h ago
Well that is how his career was for the past 4 years.
29
u/MyNameIs-Anthony 3h ago
Keys spent a significant amount of time in AEW injured but was never not treated seriously. The main issues were QTV and Book of Hobbs not going anywhere but both of those ideas he himself pitched.
Heck, before he left he was being signaled to transition to the main event scene.
13
u/LostDelver Breathe. Responsibly. 3h ago
Yep the guy got pushed and was a former TNT champion, just so happened that his angles during that time were not the most compelling, and then he got injured in the most inopportune times like that big match against Moxley.
9
u/nachoiskerka 3h ago
As somebody who watched him grow from Dark into a contract signing and then later into different factions and WWE, it's fantastic to see this kid's rise. especially since they took the time to explain where he came from in that first episode of Dark and the tragedy.
1
u/EmergencyAudience581 1h ago
The real life stuff with Wardlow did derail some of his plans now that I think about it. Some people just have bad luck.
10
u/sexygodzilla Just one man? 3h ago
I don't know if anyone expected him to get the rocket push of any of the recent AEW->WWE signings.
8
u/nachoiskerka 3h ago
To be fair, when WWE expects us to have roughly 30 days of long-term memory, it's a little weird to call something months later a payoff. Especially since he really hasn't done much in the interim times. I honestly really can't remember any real moves for him between this and the last few months so it's less, let it play out, and more, we figured something out.
7
u/UsidoreTheLightBlue 3h ago
It’s worked out really well and I’m happy for him.
They absolutely looked like they were wasting him until a month or so ago, but they’ve really done well by him now.
1
u/AnfowleaAnima 2h ago
They can be wasting them at the time already debuting him and doing nothing, the fact they found something for him doesnt invalidate that fact technically speaking, as in not using him wasn't needed to do this.
1
u/notathrowaway75 1h ago
I mean that was stupid then. Keyes was being solidly presented after WrestleMania.

41
u/TheSqueeman 4h ago
Honestly they need to strap the dude up with a championship ASAP
31
5
u/MoistCloyster_ 4h ago
He doesn’t need a championship, he’s doing just fine without one. A title doesn’t need to be shoehorned into every story.
•
u/CaptainLoori 25m ago
Man, i read that now so many times "xyz doesn't need a title" (Bray back then, Gunther, Keys, ...). We talk about Wrestling, of course they need a title. If not, what is even the point? (Kayfabe wise)
•
u/NuggetMan43 8m ago
Wrestlers should always be trying to win titles (in kayfabe) but that doesn't mean they have to always be holding one. If WWE can't book their reign well they will just fall flat and lose all momentum.

u/tabloidjournalism He hit Jimmy Hart widda trashcan!!!! 4h ago
It took a while to get going but Keys on fire now
49
u/jin_of_the_gale 4h ago
I think more people are starting to realize you can't keep everyone hot and in active feuds every week. Carmelo started off weak after his debut, but the Miz feud and winning the IC title got him really over, before being cooled off a little. But if he was on TV every week and in feuds on SmackDown, it wouldn't have as big as a surprise for him to randomly join the 946. His recent disappearance, blacking out his Twitter, and to some extent MJF's post all added to the reveal
8
u/xavined 3h ago
He did debut in the Road to Mania. I think it was kind of have to fit him in anywhere yet.
7
u/UsidoreTheLightBlue 3h ago
The debut was baffling but the next few months were more baffling.
He spends months doing dark matches, randomly gets a match a week before mania on tv, the wins the Andre.
He got a couple of wins then basically became a jobber to the (kind of) stars for months.
Hell his last match before tonight was losing to Jacob Fatu.
1
u/xavined 2h ago
I think they wanted him around doing stuff at least so he wasn't just sitting backstage doing nothing at all. Clearly they saw big things for him.
1
u/UsidoreTheLightBlue 2h ago
Yeah, he said he asked for the dark matches so that part makes sense. It’s the jobbing for months that’s weird.
5
u/Spiner202 _ 3h ago
I've had this thought forever. The road to Mania is a very common place for people to debut because the Rumble allows for extra PLE roster spots, but it actually makes no sense because a lot of feuds are well-established at that point. There isn't a lot of room on the roster for newcomers.

u/American-Punk-Dragon 4h ago

This Raw was way better than MITB. Feels like the weekly shows have been pretty good lately and the PLEs have been lackluster.
24
u/Kilen13 4h ago
Both Raw and SD have been cooking for a while now. Its why I'm willing to give a little grace on the MitB winners just to see where they go with it
11
u/PeaceAlien Brad 'Brad Maddox' Maddox 4h ago
Penta is a cool winner, idk if I can be sold on Tiffy
7
u/Kilen13 4h ago
I'm assuming a heel turn on Chelsea is coming but I'm happy to wait and see
4
u/Technical_Regular836 2h ago
I hope they don't drag this out like they did with her cash-in story with Nia Jax
3
u/EmergencyAudience581 3h ago
Tiffy has one problem with being a heel as far as her move set. Watch Liv's training with Brody Jr. and she is more dynamic but as a heel she does a lot less flashy stuff. Tiffy does the same moves and talks the same as heel or face.
2
u/TheXboxArtist 3h ago
while Roxy vs Liv would probably be better, Tiff vs Chelsea can be good. They probably feel they can drag Judgment Day longer than Chelsea and Tiff.
1
9
u/Acto12 4h ago
Honestly feels like Triple H and the creative team despise gimmick PLE's like MITB and the Royal Rumble and would rather prefer to have more freedom in booking feuds and storylines like it was prior to the 90s.
23
12
u/RobbNotRob MICHAEL COLE BAYBAY 4h ago
The best solution would be for Royal Rumble to be the only gimmick show since it's so engrained in WWE's identity, and let MitB go back to being a WM match. They could even split the men's and women's matches between the two nights
4
u/CrimsonJoker13 4h ago
I've liked the idea that an Elimination Chamber winner's challenge opens both nights and the Rumble winners main event each night. Men's Chamber and women's Rumble for night 1, women's Chamber and men's Rumble winner for Night two. If there was a scenario for that, it could always be that Money in the bank opened each night with the Chamber winner's challenges being the semi-main event.
That said I actually like Money in the Bank being its own thing, same with Chamber. Though if Oba has his title shot still maybe the men's Chamber is a title defense for the WWE championship next year instead of naming a challenger.
1
u/Separate_Power_5022 1h ago
Mitb concept is dead - they could put king of the ring instead for a few years and maybe return MITB after a break
1
u/TilAlexandrosXVII 1h ago
I mean Theory, Priest, Drew and Seth won the briefcase all in a row lmao. Not much is going to survive 4 legit abysmal dogshit years in a row
2
u/Saitsuofleaves 4h ago
I mean, HHH is a big glazer of the NWA in general...but the NWA also had a ton of gimmick shows.

Solo should have stayed away from the Bloodline, he's cooling off when he was picking up steam before.

I kind of want Royce to beat Roman and run with the title to Mania. I wouldn't hate 946 running things till Mania.

Wish that they didn't have Jaida save Keyes from getting pinned off of a signature move but besides that, this was a good way to make this group look like killers. Also, it's nice to see Carmelo doing something again because he has had way too much of his momentum cut out from under him for no reason (hopefully that won't be repeated here).

u/NFLDland 4h ago
So this is the War Games, right? These 4 v Solo, Jacob and the Usos?
1
u/thisjohnd 2h ago
I think it’ll be 5 v 5 with Jacob being the last member of 946. Which means it’ll be the Usos, Solo, Roman, and… LA Knight.
•
u/AnEmptyKarst 35m ago
I would suggest Oba instead of Knight. Puts the two guys clearly on a collision course together in a 'can they coexist?' (they don't), continuing their storyline, while also making the 946 look strong by defeating a team with both of them on it.
6
u/Odd-Promise2661 4h ago
Least it's something for Melo, but it is kinda funny how many times guys pull the black out twitter just to show up immediately after
4
u/Particular_Peace_568 3h ago
Almost as if that was the plan or something by them.
3
u/Odd-Promise2661 3h ago
I was meaning because Los Garzas have done it like 3 times
-1
u/Particular_Peace_568 3h ago
And legit almost every time they did it they are either joining Legaldo or reforming the biggest stable in Lucha Libre history lol.
6
u/derekx2012 3h ago
Anybody find it strange that they spent the first 6 months of Keys’ WWE career having him tell his story of being a gangster, committing crimes and being reformed in prison… only to make him a gangster character who commits crimes??
3
u/gonegirlisgone 3h ago
you’re not wrong. i think they could have better hit home that keys reached a breaking point when fatu continuously dogged him out in favor of the bloodline. imho writing should have honed in that keys felt he had no one. so he went back to that familiar environment, the friends, and killer psyche he had when he was in survival mode, which was 946. but again, they didn’t write that well at all. just flipped the switch.
1
6
u/HaluSinazn 4h ago
I'm curious if we're still going to get "Jey is the shadow leader" theories after 946 literally just massacred him and his brothers lol
6
u/shaqfreethrow21 4h ago edited 4h ago
why are they called 946 if only one of them is from oakland lol

Two from Oakland or Hayward. One from Maryland, one from Massachusetts, and I have no idea where Parker is from.. maybe Florida?

I have been watching on and off. Wasn't Solo going against Roman's family
3
u/drdoof98 4h ago
Yes but the enemy of his enemy is his friend and he was just recently kidnapped by 946
2
u/Nightthrasher674 4h ago
He was, that's why LA Knight questioned why he was tagging with the Bloodline and asking if he was back with them, Solo denied it being a full time member but they explained a few weeks ago that he recognized the 946 as an immediate threat to everyone and wanted to set aside their issues to take them out
2
3
3
3
u/MadmanMarkMiller 3h ago
I don't get the appeal.
This is the same "wreck everyone and act menacing" storyline we've seen dozens of times now. Last time it was run back was with the people on the floor in this pic (the Bloodline).
2
u/ThatWrestlingGuy15 4h ago
This group fucking rocks man. Wrestling should feel this type of unpredictable and chaotic. When it does nothing compares to it.
2
u/KillUsernameBoi 4h ago
So there's got to be one more member added to 946 for War Games since it'll definitely be Roman, Solo, Usos and Jacob all aligned together for November. I'd love to see Omos be brought back for this faction.
2
u/alex_119 4h ago
I’m a bit afraid this push of keys and the stable will be only done until survivor series. They have something great on their hands, the people have chemistry, they should just keep building them up and not just push them now to feed the bloodline at ss and then drop them like a bad habbit
2
2
2
u/CrimsonJoker13 4h ago
I hope they have a plan to let Ms Parker run wild in the women's division. Have her immediately start jumping Judgement Day until Raquel or Liv gives her a title shot.
2
u/Singer211 4h ago
The only thing missing from the 946, is Roman actually selling them as a legit threat.
Beating up the Uso’s, Solo, and Jacob is cool and all. But Roman is the Bloodline leader. He is who they should be going after.
2
u/NishWick14 2h ago
Now they will build to a war games match and then with a match that will have no consequences of its results then they will till the faction's whole steam fizzels out
2
u/Cutsprocket 2h ago
They're getting fed to the bloodline and falling into obscurity after war games but its nice to see 946 getting some shine while they can
2
u/PsykoFlounder 1h ago
I swear to god, if they put Melo in this shit JUST so he can eat pins, I'm fuckin' done.

u/acemonsoon 4h ago
so in kayfabe, Jaida Parker is officially the Baddest Bitch on the raw brand. she straight ran down Jacob Fatu in a car, bodied the referee from tonight and is clearly not afraid to get involved with the men physically.

The end goal should be Keys being a world champ and for one of the young ones (Melo) to turn and take it from him.

So, who will be their 5th for Wargames? Bloodline already has Roman, Jacob, Usos, and Solo.
Betting it will be LA Knight.

946 is so fucking cool. Also I’m so interested to see who the 5th is going to be for WarGames. Is it going to be Jacob? If so, who joins the Bloodline side as their 5th now? Could it be a heel LA Knight? A returning Drew McIntyre? Who even knows anymore??? I never expected Melo so I’ll just sit back and enjoy the ride

I hope the booking keeps showing them as threats and they get a great push out of this. Something about adding in Royce, and now Melo, really gives this an edge OTM didn't have.
The fact that they're trusting this faction to wipe out the Bloodline pretty often when it's five relatively fresh faces to main roster (yeah Melo's been a bit but not THAT long) makes me think they see some legit promise in the members overall.
1
u/SportBoring3533 2h ago
The nxt boys are pretty green, another guy to show them how its done is always welcome.

love that shot! I thought Keys was going to use the chair to throw some chair shots, but just used it to sit down. The whole gesture was done well!
So this sets up 946 (Royce Keys, Carmelo, Bronco, Price, Jada) vs The Usos, Solo, Fatu, and Naomi?
I wonder how Roman gets involved, some say LA Knight may join 946, but I hope thats not the case.
