Stephanie Vaquer responds to a new interview of her jailed abuser, El Cuatrero

Still crazy that her and La Hiedra are both technically employed by the same company.

and Flammer and many other people who are supportive of him
22
u/AtlasAir_ 7h ago
Jesus, there were more of that? I thought it was La Hiedra. Awful.

I remember Rush was supportive of the guy and that made me look at him differently. Now I’m not surprised his brother liked the petitions
28
u/Foxcooler 8h ago
I guess that’s why she doesn’t go to AAA
•
u/TheWholeOfTheAss 2m ago
WWE still made her stand there with the other Hispanics when they announced they’d bought AAA.

I hope you can see why that is still weird though. Like both companies should probably come to a joint decision on this one.

Contracts can be weird and if it is a situation where they maybe come out ahead with a terminated contract that I can understand keeping them on the payroll but Id still make sure they arent getting used in AAA or WWE. It's just hard to give WWE the benefit of the doubt in these situations.

Especially considering she has to see the man who almost killed her treated like a hero.

It's crazy to me that after being found guilty a lot of luchadores are on Cuatrero's side

Nikki Cross is anti vax?

u/RexxGunn 5h ago
I think he's confusing Damo with Erik. Unless Nikki has been really good at keeping secrets.

She isn't keeping any secret it's been well-known for years lol.

I can't find any record of Nikki Cross making anti-vax statements, unlike Sarah Lorgan who is well known for it

u/Necessary_Badger_658 8h ago
Source on this? Dralistico and Rush both publicly supported him, but Dragon Lee hasn't to my knowledge.
31
u/blacksoxing 8h ago
Everyone in a family doesn't vote together or even pray together (if they pray). Dragon Lee, whatever his real name is, may NOT agree with what his other brothers may agree upon. Nonetheless, it amazes me how us humans can know something happened and still go "....BUT...."
13
u/NeonChampion2099 7h ago
He posted about the protest on his storied back then, and when his brother said "the whole family is with Cuatrero", Lee didn't deny it.
13
u/Necessary_Badger_658 7h ago edited 31m ago
A) it's not necessarily Lee's job to be accountable for or acknowledge everything his family says
B) You reference a post I've never seen or heard of before without evidence. I think you're mistaken.
12
6
u/Odd-Promise2661 8h ago
I'm gonna be honest, I don't seem his entire family supporting and going to protests and him just going "ah no, I don't support him!" plus iirc he posted about the protest of his arrest on his instagram story

That made my head hurt because while being their chauffeur, I was victim to my kids' deep conversation about what the internet must've been like during WW2 and what it must've been like to see the atrocities on youtube or facebook. My son... my dear son. The fruit of my very loins gon open his mouth and say "Facebook wasn't even a thing back then... Dad! What kind of social media were people using back then?"
I thought long and hard, but ultimately decided not to drop them home and drive off a cliff.
-8
u/Odd-Promise2661 8h ago
Like dude's entire family is in on it but people still try and say that he's on the opposite end of this lmao just cope
14
u/mjac1090 7h ago
It's not cope, it's don't assume he's a scumbag purely because his brothers are. If you don't know what a person believes there's no reason to have an opinion on their hypothetical beliefs
-7

u/nWo1997 nwo 8h ago
Also asking for a source for Lee specifically. Because the main source I've found of Dragon Lee's support is that post of RUSH saying that all the family was with Cuatrero, and people saying "well, Dragon is RUSH's brother, so that means Dragon is also supporting him."
Which takes RUSH's words at face value and doesn't take into account how much less supportive "almost all the family is with you, Cuatrero" sounds.
-4
u/NeonChampion2099 7h ago
If that was the case, wouldn't Dragon Lee have come out and publically stated otherwise?
I mean, if it was me, I would have said "all the family but not me!"

If he doesn’t agree and the people closest to him know that why should he give a shit about making sure random weirdos on the internet know
27
u/jmspinafore 8h ago
Denial that someone could be nice to them and evil to someone else, most likely. It's common to assume that an abuser is a monster to everyone all the time, so if you have a positive interaction with someone accused, the victim must be lying.
Or shame that they were bamboozled by a bad person.
Or they are equally awful and see nothing wrong with what he did.
8
u/TheWumboligist 8h ago
Theres the obvious political example, but also we can look at someone like Deshaun Watson. Don't remember if he was officially found guilty or civilly liable or anything like that but 27 sexual assault cases and was suspended by the NFL along with just kinda being an asshole in general , yet so many other athletes and NFL players still love him
2
u/smsrmdlol 6h ago
Unfortunately lots of people don’t care what you do, as long as you don’t do it to them
9
u/Odd-Promise2661 8h ago
The fact that there's literally not just La Hiedra being pushed in AAA despite the restraining order, Cuatrero's brother is still in AAA as well, plus Dragon Lee (and a rumored Dralistico joining him) on the same roster as her
4
u/Wolfpac187 3h ago
I don’t believe people should be punished just because of who they’re related to
4
u/AwfulAdjacentGoose 7h ago
Lot of toxic machismo. Grew up with that and seen dudes just utterly dehumanize women. It's not only crazy, but these guys will never see themselves as being on the wrong side here. Shit is sad.

Crazy? it shouldn't be. I don't think it's a secret Mexico can be very conservative.
People should know that machismo in Spanish is used as a word for misogyny, not "being manly" as well.

u/SpaceGooV 8h ago
He's from a Lucha family and you'll see lots of the supporters are from Lucha families or partners of people from those families.

u/Velvet-Nomad2615 9h ago
His 2 bothers and his brothers wife and the entire Muñoz family apart from Dragon Lee tried to lead mass movement to ban her from wrestling, threatened her through other means....and somehow all of them are employed with AAA still and Dralistico is on his way to WWE ....smh
65
u/Odd-Promise2661 8h ago
Konnan literally went on his podcast calling Stephanie a crazy woke woman who was trying to cancel a good man and he was literally all over AAA until his health issues recently, including at the WWE HOF for Rey

u/MeanCantaloupe69 5h ago
I mean that shouldn't be surprising with Dralistico considering WWE sucks Trump's dick.
47
u/YearZero_97 8h ago
It's really fucking alarming how many of the carny and old school Lucha Libre guys take that near-murderers side. Oh and Rush' family along with Konnan. Makes me not feel bad for Konnan's karma catching up to him tbh.

It's so sad that she had to go through that and that she still has to go through this kind of bullshit but, looking at the somewhat bright spot on the other side of it all... It's amazing that she's so vocal about this. She's speaking for many women and she's making herself a great role model.
People like Cuatrero are protected by society too often, and it's important to speak out against it.
26
u/MikeMakesRight82 7h ago
the thing that stands out in my mind is that it was the paramedics treating her who called the police because of how severe her injuries were
22
u/OneOnionBhaji 8h ago
Cybernetico is now on my shit list. I was disappointed when I found out about La Hiedra's shitty actions!
11
u/YearZero_97 8h ago
Sigh... I kind of expected him because of how carny he is. Any others from the 2000s era that support the abuser? 😭 I watched the era with prime El Mesias and Ciber.
13
u/Creepy_Pressure3004 8h ago
People really have no idea what she’s had to deal with. Imagine not keeping quiet about your attempted murder while the majority of the tribalistic lucha community rallies against you. Then the evidence supports your claim and the worst offenders that harassed you for years are spread out through all the various wrestling organizations and you just try your best to move past it and they keep spreading this bullshit.
13
u/nobody0350 7h ago
It still amazes me that when WWE announced that they had purchased AAA, they decided to have Stephanie Vaquer stand behind them alongside the other wrestlers even though she never once worked for Triple A and had restraining orders against some of the active wrestlers in Triple A after they harassed her and publicly showed their support to Cuatrero. It’s crazy to see how many people were defending and protecting this guy. Not only did many Triple A wrestlers hold marches throughout Mexico City to demand the release of Cuatrero, but some even went as far as organizing a whole wrestling show in the same prison Cuatrero was being held in to show their support for him and demand his release.
6
u/CrimsonJoker13 6h ago
Given all of the people defending her abuser and that time a racist wrestler in Mexico attacked her, I am not surprised that her career trajectory was NJPW -> at an AEW Forbidden Door show -> WWE. I don't blame her at all for that. I don't know the situation in CMLL but if it's this prominent then Japan seemed like the smart move.
11
u/nobody0350 4h ago edited 3h ago
She was working CMLL and NJPW simultaneously. She was only signed to CMLL, but she held a title in both promotions since both promotions were and still are close to one another and had already been partner promotions for many years. I don’t know if NJPW ever addressed what had happened to Stephanie, but I know CMLL always supported her and backed her throughout that whole ordeal. I remember reading a statement that CMLL put out when it happened where they defended Stephanie from all the hate that she somehow was receiving and said that they fully stood by her. A lot of the CMLL fans and fellow CMLL wrestlers like La Catalina also showed their support for Stephanie. But even with all that support, I can’t imagine it’s easy working in the same city that the prison that your domestic abuser is currently being held in is located. If he ever got released, it wouldn’t have been hard for him to find her. Also, just to clarify that racist attack happened to her on the indy scene shortly after she first arrived in Mexico. She was still new and hadn’t even been noticed by CMLL yet.

It may be a case that they are supporting Cuatero to be better but not necessarily tolerating his mistake.
-18
u/Foxcooler 8h ago
I doubt she consulted with WWE/TKO before posting this, would be too out of character for them imo. I hope they don’t punisher her for that.
11
u/FewElk6678 6h ago
Why would they punish her? Shes speaking out against a man that tried to kill her. If anything, it should be him punished even more.

u/Foxcooler 6h ago
Welcome to corporate america. Big companies only give a shit about their own reputations and staying out of drama even if pertains the wellbeing of their own employees.
Not trying to be an activist or anything it's just the truth.
