Fans gasp and cover their mouths at other fans fantasy booking people of the same race in the same group when across promotions this is the norm.

u/Sio_V_Reddit 2h ago

You guys remember that time that Daniel Garcia chained Jack Perry to the front of his own bus, kidnapped him, took him to like a farmhouse in Nebraska, did literal CIA torture on him, and then just left him there?

AND GARCIA WAS THE FACE

1

u/MidnightCircuitry 3h ago

Since Ukraine took out the bot farms in Russia, Twitter's been noticeably better. Fewer bots, less hate. You can click into a comment section and see people actually talking and no one's derailing or hurling insults. Got me wondering, has anyone noticed any similar trends on Reddit?

When I heard Max was probably done with AEW I always thought he could be massive on the indies rather than go to WWE/TNA. Wonder now if this controversy could fuel that or ends it. Wasn't a huge fan or anything just feels like the kind of thing that could work crossing the world on random promotions if he went all in on it.

4

u/Odd_Dust2719 4h ago

So I guess that's pretty much it for Max Caster's career eh

1

u/SerShanksALot 1h ago

probably not no

3

u/OneMetalMan 3h ago

MLW?

1

u/Intelligent-Till-678 1h ago

They put out shows 6 months after taping them. Max might make election jokes that will be very outdated by the time they air.

So taz and ricochet both had their birthdays a day ago. How is this not gimmick infringement?

I wonder if we'll finally get an Ilja appearance this week. Dynamite or Wrestledream.. I miss watching him wrestle.

u/Rspies Who Can Stop The Path of Cage 5h ago

I think he’s got VISA shit or else he’d have been in Clockwork Carnage

4

Maybe it was good that I didn’t know Max was with TNA until yesterday

4

u/apehasreturned DDT Shill 6h ago

He only joined TNA yesterday 😭

3

u/zoom518 6h ago

After hearing that he wrestled I swore I found a video dated Thursday hinting he’d show up at Bound for Glory

1

u/apehasreturned DDT Shill 6h ago

Oh yeah you’re right there was one but yesterday was his debut

6

u/PositiveUsual2919 6h ago

only in part 1 of the DSOTR series about TNA and cannot believe how strong Jeff Jarrett was/is dealing with tragedy. when he mentioned his wife died on the same day (not same year obviously) as Owen Hart I almost gasped. how awful can it get??

2

u/rjbelz 6h ago

Have we ever got an answer on who knocked out Jacob Fatu’s teeth, or who attack Jey Uso before elimination chamber? Seems like WWE forgot to do anything meaningful with those attacks

7

u/ThatIndianGuy7116 Look at Depression Jones over here 7h ago

What bums me out about Max Caster is he's a super entertaining guy without the edgy humor. His best work was his most recent singles run in AEW where he was calling himself the greatest wrestler alive and then getting squashed. His best raps/disses are usually when they're just silly bars or light jabs like when he called Eddie Kingston a box of newports or whatever it was lol.

idk i feel bad for him getting fired immediately cause I want that dude to succeed but I just wish he'd stop fucking himself over. He's not like the greatest wrestler but hes got enough tools to be a great hand for any company and yeah what he said wasnt even the worse thing hes ever said but just stop trying to be edgy, dude..Youre almost 40 years old for christ sakes lmao

2

u/Chelseablue1896 4h ago

Yeah Max actually had good bars for a while. He could still be edgy without being overly classless. But what he said this time was fucking tasteless & I have no sympathy.

1

u/Intelligent-Till-678 1h ago

TNA put it on their social media. They were fine with it...until someone called them.

7

u/apehasreturned DDT Shill 6h ago edited 5h ago

That was my favourite rap of his by far.

“Yo Eddie, why you dressed like it’s ‘04? You look like a box of Newports!”

Cut to Mox, Eddie’s tag partner, saying “he’s right, you do,” while pantomiming smoking a cigarette

6

u/Sakura_Leaves Hologram is my Pookie Bear 7h ago

Max Caster wow. We've finally got a TNA run shorter than Junior Fatu's

People need to calm down about LA Knight.

There's a great spot for him as transitional champ in November 2030 when Obas beaten Romans record and they want him to win the rumble instead

10

u/Mad_Blankey Riiita stan 7h ago

Moose doing the kickout at 1 and Hulk-up fighting spirit spot after a basic vertical suplex from Max Caster is one of the funniest spots I’ve ever seen. Had me howling at my screen.

I watched Lockdown as my first TNA ppv in ages and it's so good to see they've still got the unintentionally funny moments down to a tee

Gonna have to give bound for glory a pop

12

u/Sio_V_Reddit 8h ago

Further proof that wrestling is the funniest thing ever because how am I supposed to explain to someone that Powerhouse Hobbs/Royce Keys got his biggest push in one company by forming a trio with Samoa Joe, left said company amicably, and then proceeded to a new company…only to form a new trio to fight a Samoan named Joe.

1

u/mashturbo 7h ago

911 accidentally helps Sami pin Joe confirmed?* Ah the hell...it'll be double DQ because the match doesn't matter like all the champ vs champ matches.

*IF that match even takes place. Penta could cash in Friday then you get the rematch 6 weeks in the making. Of course, there the whole conflict thing.

8

u/OpeningSorbet 8h ago

I can't explain it... but Mark Davis looks like he should be American, and Jake Doyle looks like he should be Australian.

9

3

u/blingera 8h ago

oh yeah you never heard of the “apology Raw”? two times you can almost expect Triple H to be in his bag: right after a fucking terrible PLE or right after a very good AEW PPV where he’ll at least some matches on the card actually cook.

2

u/CaptainKando AAA Paid Propagandist. 8h ago

You only get that on the PLEs where they acknowledge the show was bad. The issue with MitB was more the results than the matches themselves tbh so I'm not sure we're getting an apology RAW

Max Caster’s penchant for controversial remarks is exactly why WWE should sign him. There are many seasoned professionals in the business that can help script his raps to be scathing but still palatable to all audiences, like Kit Wilson’s slam poetry.

Man, there is so much money to be made with The Acclaimed in WWE. They can revive the act and make it hot and even better. I hope WWE takes the opportunity!

The Acclaimed vs Enzo and Cass is such a dream match. 🔥

What do Jon Moxley and Shun Skywalker have in common?

They've both been Yano'd.

Yano is the One True Ace of the Universe. The Sublime Master Thief y'all.

Love Darby to death and think he’s an ez 2026 WOTY candidate and currently one of the best in the world, but man that scorpion death lock is not it. Felt bad for Fletcher for having to sell for it.

5

u/narutomanreigns Wato Ass Pussy 8h ago

Yeah when he leans real back on it to the point he's almost bridging it looks pretty good, but otherwise it's easily the weakest looking move in his arsenal.

6

u/Dennistheturtle 10h ago

Correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't all of the NJPW Vs AEW feuds been building up for a while:

- Will Ospreay and Callum Newman's UE conflict

- Yota Tsuji not showing up at Forbidden Door and kinda disrespecting AEW (so someone from AEW will inevitably come defending)

- Shingo Takagi calling out the Death Riders after the G1

- I'm assuming MJF had something to say when Oiwa won the G1 with a headlock

So it shouldn't be too surprising that something would come up to further these

5

u/Rodney_u_plonker YOSHI-HASHI'S number one fan 9h ago

I've been politely suggesting this is coming to the new Japan subreddit for what feels like months now.

The mjf one I thought he was just talking shit online until he challenged and my original guess was Tsuji would fight Okada or Naito but all this has been very obvious in the booking

NJPW is not subtle.

I think it's been built pretty well.

-1

u/mashturbo 10h ago

AEW is the enemy in IIIIIICCCCCCCCCCE eyes, BUT in the same manor, Gabe Kidd was 100% "fuck AEW" then he signed there. No explanation.

3

u/fttxdd666 9h ago

Gabe Kidd was 100% "fuck AEW" then he signed there. No explanation.

Pretty easy actually, he wanted to be 100% NJPW but they didn't pay him, so now it's death to the lion mark. He's basically a mercenary who gets overly attached to the company that is paying him and hates everyone who doesn't pay him.

1

u/mashturbo 9h ago

So what you’re saying is his allegiance to Bullet Club was only because Bullet Club was paying him more than NJPW?

2

u/fttxdd666 9h ago

He has allegiance to the ones who left with him (Clark/Finlay), but not the ones who didn't. They are his dogs 4 real.

3

u/mashturbo 9h ago

That’s a true soldier. Gabe is free of the slander I accused him of.

4

u/AmongFriends 10h ago

Someone made a joke about this but if HHH was actually a part of storylines, a HHH as "corporate" vs LA Knight feud would be phenomenal. Because that's essentially the story we've been watching with LA Knight for about 3-4 years now: LA Knight vs WWE Booking.

3

u/airz23s_coffee "I threw my heart out in front of me and Ben caught it" 10h ago

Just watched the rap and everyone has a kind of "Um. Not sure that's on" reaction to the Riyadh line and then he's got the crowd back on board 30 seconds later.

Real fumble by Caster, could've done well for himself in TNA.

-5

u/CrossingYoulnStyle 11h ago

I get that most of the MITB results were uninspiring to say the least and Roman/Liv being champ is stale, but I don't know if the 'scared to take risks' narrative fully works in a year where Sami Zayn beat Cody Rhodes (clean!) and CM Punk to become a two time WWE champion, Oba Femi retired Brock Lesnar (twice!), the WWE title has changed hands on free TV a million times, Penta won MITB with a rocket strapped to him, and Powerhouse Hobbs is the top heel on Raw.

4

u/mashturbo 8h ago

GUNTHER punching air rn. No one remember he was in the match and since it was a triple threat, there were no DQs.

7

u/OneMetalMan 10h ago

Oba shouldve only had to retire Brock once. Wouldn't it be more shocking if he already beat Roman for the Title not even 6 months in?

-1

u/CrossingYoulnStyle 10h ago

Of course, but that's a lot different than saying they never take risks anymore. And Oba will beat him for the title 15 months in, still pretty shocking.

33

u/apehasreturned DDT Shill 11h ago

Not naming names, but shoutout to the guy who suggested that Max Caster’s rap was so offensive that it would put WWE talent in danger going to Saudi because TNA has a partnership with them.

Howling at the visual of the Houthis a) watching fucking TNA, b) knowing the nature of their relationship with WWE and c) having that be the straw that breaks the camel’s back and makes them bomb the shit out of the airport when Crown Jewel comes to town, even though they’ve already done it twice this week without provocation from Max Caster

15

u/fttxdd666 10h ago

Broke: Houthis bombing Saudi due to the current war in Iran as well as previous bombings against them by Saudi

Woke: Houthis bombing Saudi because they are hosting WWE Crown Jewel

Bespoke: Houthis bombing Saudi because Crown Jewel is a WWE event, who is in a partnership with TNA and TNA wrestler Max Caster told them to do it in a rap before a match with Moose.

8

u/apehasreturned DDT Shill 9h ago

I can’t believe I was here shitposting about the very same rap that made Abdul-Malik al-Houthi decide to detonate the entirety of Riyadh

-12

New Japan having their incredibly thorough and rigorous dojo system with years and years of steady progression including an overseas excursion and no guarantees of prominence at the other end of it being shown up by sending a talented guy to be taught by Yoshinari Ogawa for a year is very funny*

*humorous exaggeration of events, may not have happened

8

u/Rodney_u_plonker YOSHI-HASHI'S number one fan 9h ago

Fujita didn't even get an excursion outside of sleeping on Robbie Eagles couch for a few weeks and he's lapping the junior division

The Fujita/oiwa group were special. They were almost immediately wrestling instead of spending months to a year hiding in the dojo. They had extremely unconventional excursions because they were so talented (and young) and it's very obvious that they are both just elite talents

If anything they were both young lions too long

Combined career ladder matches, a comparison (number via searching word "ladder" on a wrestler's Cagematch page, removed 1-2 obvious non-ladder matches but obv I make no claims of 100% accuracy because this was done quickly and by a human):

AEW's last ladder match (Cope/Cage vs. FTR vs. Young Bucks): ~92 between six wrestlers

2026 Men's Money in the Bank: 52 between six wrestlers

2026 Women's Money in the Bank: 17 between six wrestlers

Individual wrestlers with same/more ladder matches than the entire combined Women's Money in the Bank field: Christian Cage (25), Nick Jackson (18), Kevin Owens (17), Matt Jackson (17), Cope (17). CM Punk just missing that mark at 15.

0

u/Spiner202 _ 3h ago

While the women's match was definitely a bit too inexperienced, it's not an entirely fair comparison because there just aren't as many women's stipulation matches in general.

I'm not sure if it's quick to run this analysis, but it'd be interesting to see the top 5 or 10 individuals in terms of number of ladder matches for both men and women.

1

u/mikro17 1h ago

I mean we can make it straight up matches (per Cagematch) and not much changes.

Tiffany Stratton 194 matches; Jacy Jayne: 320 matches, Lash Legend 195 matches; Lola Vice 179 matches; Roxanne Perez 351 matches; Sol Ruca 187 matches.

Penta 1307 matches; Bron Breakker 253 matches; CM Punk 1860 matches; Je'Von Evans 362 matches; Kevin Owens 1754 matches; Trick Williams 227 matches

And no need to even look at the AEW one because they're all huge veterans/old farts.

But the difference with even the men's ladder match is insane and sending out an entire field of people with sub-400 matches experience in the biggest company of the world, at a huge show, live, is absolutely a disaster waiting to happen. Punk and KO both have worked more matches than all six women combined (and Penta isn't far off), which is nuts

There's a reason ladder matches/crazy stipulation matches outside of random indies have at least 1-2 veterans snuck in there.

MyAEW gives you the ad break commentary sometimes and it's amazing. Specially how quickly they can switch from "Chatting utter bollocks, making each other laugh" to "AND WE'RE BACK"

14

Love that it took literally one rap for people to remember why Caster used to get shit constantly.

It’s like his jobber gimmick made people forget how often this happened.

Maybe don’t rap about a fucking airport bombing that killed people in the same week.

4

u/decodezilla 10h ago

I don’t watch AEW regularly, so I was really confused by people singing his praises following his release, considering that every other time I’ve seen him discussed here it’s been people calling him an edgelord

5

u/mikro17 11h ago

I'm a crazy believer in comedy/performance/whatever existing to challenge things and having few to no limits . . . but the idea of seemingly going on live tv representing a company and not having shown them what you were going to say and gotten it approved ahead of time is bananas to me. Just a dumb fucking idea with no benefit to anyone.

Like there is no legitimate reason not to do that, as a grown adult who understands how the world works. I mean, it doesn't have to be a shoot freestyle lmfao, generally these sorts of things work better when you rehearse and plan, so just get that okayed and never have any worries.

8

u/PositiveUsual2919 12h ago

survive 5 with the best wrestler alive and the associated gimmick was a fantastic reinvention for a guy who was never going to be a top singles player. no idea why he insists on his mediocre at best raps that lead to controversy over and over.

5

u/KrisKinsey1986 The TRUE Francesco Akira Fan Club Leader 11h ago

The most flak Max Caster may get, if he referenced a school shooting in America, is people confusing which recent school shooting he is referencing.

His rap would be outdated the very next school-day.

u/Financial_Article959 13h ago

I am not a fan of the discourse surrounding Je'Von's spots during MITB. The reason why he climbed up the ladder despite not being positioned close to the briefcase is because he wanted to show off the athleticism he's vaunted for. His intent was to LEAP to the briefcase, latch on to it and secure it that way. He was pursuing a wow moment, something to make him stand out and generate buzz among fans, especially those on social media. But instead, his ambition cost him which was executed in a shocking way as he was pushed off and landed right back into the ambulance that he used to drive himself back into the match after a devastating onslaught from Bron Breakker.

Some will say he was "meandering" and "playing around with the ladders" when all he should've been doing was trying to climb up for the briefcase as quickly as possible. That is the point. Je'Von paid the price for his youthful exuberance and showed an area of inexperience that he needs to hone in order to make it in this business. He must learn how to swiftly recognize and seize an opportunity when it presents itself. At MITB, he failed to do that. He was mostly concerned with settling a score against Bron and trying to prove himself more than necessary. He was desperate to get the chip off of his shoulder in a match that had a grizzled vet like Punk involved.

This is pure cinema, man. Sometimes, you gotta read in between the lines and not act on the urge to immediately rage at something because you won't take the time to understand it.

8

u/KrisKinsey1986 The TRUE Francesco Akira Fan Club Leader 11h ago

We need a moratorium on the term "pure cinema" unless 35mm celluloid is involved.

u/Sio_V_Reddit 13h ago

I see why Bowens doesn't want to team with Max anymore, hope he stays in AEW and wins some singles gold.

6

u/beckett929 12h ago

he stays in AEW and wins some singles gold.

Same, but I think there's a lot play here with guys on his level in AEW.

I think there's so much "everyone is in the same pool" in AEW - where largely guys just jump around title to title to title (Ciampa as our latest example but it's been a problem for several years) and despite having more belts than the company has ever has, that has hurts the less established talent like Bowens because "if it's a title it's got to be on PPV, so we're going to spread these all across all of our already-proven draws..

So Ospreay and Mox and Okada and Darby and Andrade and then they feud for those 5 titles against 5 other main event caliber guys, instead of having non-title things for them and having a WCW-style hierarchy of World-US-TV and, especially in the early-mid 90s, you knew where everyone kind of stood and you would watch as new talent would rise up the ranks and older talent would slide back down. And not that it doesn't exist in AEW, Kyle Fletcher certainly a great example and Bandido seems like he's on way up, but I don't know for certain that there's enough of that.

I have long advocated just putting all the World & International guys in one column on a spreadsheet, all the TNT & National guys in another (the Continental can stay its own thing) and that helps create booking guardrails around who you're booking guys with and against and it let's you churn the undercard and get momentum behind guys like Bowens who has true star-power but the ceiling in AEW is very hard to break through if you aren't an already made star right now or aren't a ground-floor project like Nick Wayne or Kevin Knight.

Bowens-level guys being who the National title centers around, so 10 minute Collision matches and a pre-show ppv match, and you play the long-game with those lower titles/champions/challengers and keeping them separate from your feature draws, I think is one of the proven things in major wrestling over the last 40 years that bears fruit both creatively, and when it comes to dealing with these guys you've invested 6 years in that you don't lose them for nothing.

5

u/Confident_Horror_137 10h ago

I used to feel the same way but then i realized i much prefer all title holders be the best the company has to offer. There’s only so much wrestling i have time for, so i prefer singles title holders be the best of the best because i want to watch the best of the best above all else.

You could argue, “well how can they build new stars if they do this?” And my response would be, idk man, Fletcher, Takeshita, Davis, Bandido, Knight, all seem to get plenty of run, and that’s because they’re both an up and comer and also an elite talent already.

The Bowens and Ace Austins of the world are fine by me, nothing against them, but in no way would i deliberately carve out a division for them. Its unfair to them maybe but it is what it is. As a fan I want to watch the best of the best as much as possible.

Just conjecture but Liv is a talent who HHH can mark as his own creation end to end. Hired her at his trainer's recommendation with no prior wrestling experience. Developed entirely within the WWE system.

Also, as we saw in Unreal, she's quite happy to cut time if asked by the office.

3

u/KrisKinsey1986 The TRUE Francesco Akira Fan Club Leader 11h ago

I think this is it: Liv is somebody HHH can taut he "made" and it's clear that she is a company man through & through.

I do think Carmelo is gone, but I’m shocked WWE didn’t try to keep him a little happier. Only for the reason of him being married to Kelani. Obviously people can work in different promotions when they are together/married. But Kelani is so good, and wwe probably wouldnt want to give her a reason to jump ship when the time comes

7

u/OneMetalMan 12h ago

I hate to say it but Kelani is going to run into the same exact problem Melo did, despite also being the type who can get a good match out of anyone.

You’re probably right, it’s just hard to say with NxT call ups haha

Max Caster’s TNA run (October 11th, 2026 — October 11th, 2026) has lasted less time than a bag of lettuce. Let’s all name things that last longer than this

1

u/mashturbo 9h ago

or WWE was so impressed with his in ring work that they stole his contract, signed Bowens, a team gets injured falls out of the Dusty Cup, and BAM, there's your replacement team.

WWE already trademarked Jasper Troy. Max can just assume the name. They won't explain how Jasper shrunk and got 4 shades lighter. Just throw a chain around his neck and nobody is going to raise an eyebrow. You can even have scissors hanging on the chain as a nod and wink to his past.

That's all the conspiracy theories until Raw!

It's crazy that NJPW somehow is the company with the bad junior division

0

u/Thebritishdovah 13h ago

The ambulance spot is still a stupid one. You have to believe that an ambulance has a flimsy roof, it was convienently backed up to the ring, Evans was injured but suddenly recovered to resume a match that can be brutal. Goes for the tallest ladder despite being a high flyer. Would have been more believable if he was thrown through the window by Bron.

4

u/crimson777 Tiffany Epiphany 14h ago

I'm sure there's been a lot of discourse on it already that I just haven't paid attention to, but one comment about the Jevon ambulance dive.

Two things can be true at once. Wrestling should feel real and make sense AND also people are trying too hard to find "unrealism."

Bron moves the ladder to make room for a spear because he's brash and a showman. Why else does he "charge up" his spear by running around beforehand when he can get equal power from a few quick steps?

Jevon doesn't readjust the ladder to make it closer because he's young and inexperienced. He thinks perhaps it's close enough to reach and better to just rush and hope for the best than to take the time to move it.

It's really not that serious.

1

u/SadFeed63 12h ago

What your saying is in line with how they consistently presented Je'von in NXT as well. The way they would show he's young and brash is generally by crashing and burning in some sense. He would have control of something and then get caught up in going wild, doing something only he could, and since that tends to mean something high risk, it would often blow up in his face and cost him. Kayfabe wise, I read his positioning as "maybe I'll jump for it!"

Folks' mileage may vary on this, but I'd wager WWE sees those moments (in a kayfabe sense) as less "what are you doing Je'von? You cost yourself, you idiot" and more "this young crazy guy is willing to do whatever it takes, even if it costs him." Essentially the Jeff Hardy thing. You live and die by massive swings of the risk taking sword. Crowds who aren't putting every bit of wrestling through the smarky "must find any ounce of unrealism" filter love stuff like that. The wrestler might not win, but they do something crazy, and rule of cool + crowd respect means it tends work well.

6

u/apehasreturned DDT Shill 13h ago

I think the spot could’ve been totally saved by an extra commentary line and a small action by Je’Von.

When he gets to the top of the ladder, instead of looking out at the ambulance immediately, have him look towards the case. Dude has insane hops. He turns slightly, looks like he might be considering leaping for it, have Cole say “IS HE GONNA TRY TO JUMP TO THE BRIEFCASE” or whatever and bam, problem solved. He got overconfident in his bounciness and Bron sends him through the ambulance. Feels like a pretty easy explanation.

1

u/airz23s_coffee "I threw my heart out in front of me and Ben caught it" 13h ago

I'm fine with it if Jevons new gimmick is he's just thick as shit and has no spacial awareness. Just bumping into things constantly backstage

7

u/purpledubloon 13h ago

I can accept your kayfabe explanation for Bron's actions. But anyone who has ever used a ladder would know the new position was nowhere near close enough to grab the belt. In kayfabe it needs to be mentioned that Jevon is near sighted

7

u/crimson777 Tiffany Epiphany 13h ago

I mean, a college athlete this season mimed pissing on his opponents when he should know that’s going to get him a huge penalty. Young and dumb running on adrenaline is plenty of an explanation for me.

3

u/sexygodzilla Just one man? 14h ago

Two for one deals for multiple ticket levels being offered for Produce's show in Brooklyn tonight. Don't know if that's a function of Abdalla's bad reputation or simply the fact they were charging $55 for the standing room seats.

2

u/fluffynuckels The Rated Cope *Super* Star 13h ago

1

They do get some big names for these shows but at the same time, HoG and GCW get some pretty big names for their shows and charge much less.

6

u/EcoterroristThot Stoking the flames of tribalism 14h ago

This Tsuji run as a draw on top is very impressive, this is also the first time in a decade for NJPW where the October sumo hall is doing better than the April one (which given the buildings they run to end the G1 makes sense, people skip out on KOPW).

I am still not quite there with him as one of the best in the world but the fact the person he has the best chemistry with is the best male wrestler on the planet Ryohei Oiwa makes things a lot simpler.

I’m just excited for the future as a TNA fan, man. Should I be cautious? Probably.

But last night was just a good indicator that they’re actually building for the future and not going to be hesitant to pull the trigger at the right time, like Tommy Dreamer would do.

And just the fact there’s so many guys getting built up. I was worried when Mike Santana was leaving about who’s next because it was kinda looking dire, besides Leon and Nic.

Now we got Leon as champion. Ricky Sosa in the mix with a big win. Jason Hotch is getting pushed to the moon. Bear Bronson looked great in the gauntlet. Mustafa Ali may finally be next in like for TNA World Champ. Gabby Forza looked awesome and Joe Alonzo has so much potential.

We got syX and Avery/Kaz as a new tag team in the mix, so the tag division is getting improvement!

I’ve been saying it for months, but this company has been taking so many solid steps forward since Slammiversary and just are doing great building the future with homegrown wrestlers.

Even if Leon does end up leaving, things do look really promising with TNA.

7

u/Material_Opening_143 14h ago

Hopefully they get rid of some of the WWEisms too. The end credits are so douche chills.

9

u/RoscoeSantangelo Unnecessary Roll 14h ago

Really want Melo in AEW because it just feels like a Swerve situation all over again. Where not only was he just not being utilized enough to his strengths (and Melo has a lot more main roster success than Swerve did) but also the style and attitude just feels more fit to AEW as well.

Ultimately he should do what's best for him and what he wants but he does seem like a natural fit anywhere on the roster, and in a way that doesn't feel like it's taking any spots. Kind of like how it was a better fit for Ricky Starks too. Where he only needed a couple seconds of screentime to stay relevant week to week

18

u/KillUsernameBoi 14h ago

I hate this immediate perception from fans that whenever someone wants a favorite of theirs to be used more, "Oh, not everyone can be a main eventer" or some other condescending nonsense. Of course not everyone can be a main eventer in professional wrestling. I mean, why isn't Carmelo Hayes tearing it up in the midcard right now for the US Title scene or hell, look at what Fenix is doing with the AAA Cruiserweight Title that got Ricky Saints a short term program on Smackdown?

Trick obviously needs challengers and bodies for the midcard scene on Smackdown and the glaring biggest story and exposure for the US Title is the Trick and Melo story which elevates both men with a story and gives the US Title a top tier program for Smackdown.

7

Just started watching King of Pro Wrestling, but Shingo and Daiki Nagai doing the Jon Moxley Walk has to be the best moment of the show - that isn't getting topped lol.

I think it’s so weird how height gets favored over actual physique. I hear way more people shit on Melo for his height than Dom for being scrawny. I don’t get it lol.

Dom being scrawny suits his character. I don’t get the fuss about Melo’s height either; his issues go beyond that.

As expected indy Lucha is treating the situation as comedy, not even for heat.

u/purpledubloon 15h ago

Roman first main evented Wrestlemania in 2015. Until now, he has main evented it (I'm counting only the final match on night 2 as a main event)  9 times out of 12.

Since 2015, there have only been 6 new WM main eventers - Becky/Flair/Rousey in 2019, McIntyre in 2020, Cody in 2023, Punk in 2026. That number goes down to 3 if you only look at the men. Even then, Roman was in the main event against Cody and Punk.

I'm comparing this period to the post Hogan period. Hogan's last main event is arguably WMIX (I personally think it's WMXIII because it's the last WM where he was the advertised main event, but I'll be consistent with my own definition of the WM main event being the last match on the card). After WMIX, we've had new main eventers constantly. X had Bret, XI with Bigelow & Lawrence Taylor, XII added Shawn, XIII had Taker, XIV had Austin, XV had The Rock, XVI (2000) added Show, Foley & HHH. 2002 had Jericho, 2003 was Angle & Brock, 2004 had Benoit and finally 2005 with Batista. In the same time frame of 11 years, there were 15 new WM main eventers.

So if like me you're wondering why nothing seems to be happening in the men's WWE main event scene, that's because it hasn't. And it's compounded in the era where important things only happen at Mania (and Summerslam, to a lesser degree), at least until the last year or so when they actually dared to allow the title to change hands on Smackdown/Night of Champions

3

u/EssentIYO 11h ago

You have to include night one as a main event because they sell separate tickets.

1

u/purpledubloon 3h ago

That's fair, but I'm looking at a WM main event as the top achievement in the company. So as much as WWE would like to say otherwise, there can only be one main event

1

u/EssentIYO 3h ago

I mean, you can make up your own rules all you want, but WWE advertises WrestleMania as a two-night event, sells separate tickets for each night, and recognizes the final match of each night as a main event. Your personal definition doesn't change that.

4

u/Black-Morticia Banned From Collision 12h ago

Reading this got me curious too and looking into it, Roman missed both Wrestlemania 35 and 36. 35 being during his leukemia returning and 36 being the beginning of the Covid era. So he wasn't on the card at all for either of those. But if you WERE to count Night 1 as Wrestlemania main events, he more than enough makes up for it. As 40, he main evented both nights, 1 being the tag match with The Rock against Cody and Seth, and 2 being where he finally loses the title to Cody. And then 41 night 1 was he in the triple threat against Punk and Seth.

Counting the 2 night Wrestlemanias, that bumps it up to 17 main events. Roman would be at 14 out of 17 Wrestlemania main events since 2015. Wild stats man...

3

u/JuiceheadTurkey 10h ago

Roman wrestled Drew McIntyre at Mania 35. He just didn't main event because he came back so late during Mania season.

3

u/mashturbo 15h ago edited 14h ago

4

u/velocity-monstrosity 16h ago

WWE’s women’s division desperately needs a roster shuffle. Raw once again has both singles titles on two heels in the same faction in an already heel heavy roster, like it’s no wonder they’re going months without defending. And until they’re ready to break CharLexLey up over on Smackdown, that trio is going to continue feuding back and forth with Jade’s group and Fatal Influence.

They’ve created so many factions/duos to avoid booking them individually and as a result we get feuds that never end because there’s no fresh matchups.

5

u/velocity-monstrosity 16h ago

u/MilkyWayWaffles your comment about Iyo led me to this, cause she truly has nothing to do on Raw right now, which sucks. Unless they’re ready to have her and Bayley reconcile, I don’t see what they’ll have her do in the meantime before War Games.

1

u/EssentIYO 11h ago

Same thing they've been doing with her... making me angry. 🤬

1

u/velocity-monstrosity 4h ago

Lol and she’s right back in the judgment day vortex cause there’s no one else on raw for her to face rn. Hopefully they at least put the IC title on her

-3

u/AneeshRai7 16h ago

It’s a plug in the hole of a flooded boat. But until it gets to shore, I don’t see the issue of making WK 21 a semi AEW vs NJPW show.

Since FD no longer gets the job done and rarely ever delivered top to bottom main event vs main event match up, this will have to do.

I get the complaints but I see it as one night to tide over a growing phase.

8

u/AML2003 16h ago

I've seen a few clips of MiTB, the Je'Von dive onto the ambulance and Reed missing the moonsault. And as cool as they both were, it'd be fucking great if Michael Cole decided to sound even mildly enthusiastic about being there when they happened. He raised his voice a little for the spots but jesus he didn't even sound like he could be bothered feining interest.

1

u/mikro17 12h ago

I mean that's a pro wrestling classic right there - front a faction with a loud/annoying short guy and have him backed up by absolute monsters.

It doesn't feel like a WWE move at the moment, because why pay four guys when you can pay three guys instead, but a short front-man backed by giants is a pretty common trope for a reason (it works).
