[King of Pro Wrestling Spoilers] Another AEW Wrestler Heading to NJPW Soon Spoiler

After Shingo Takagi wins a tag match, a video of JON MOXLEY plays, where he announces he will return to New Japan... and does not mention when he will return or who he will face, much to Takagi's chagrin.

Seeming like this may or may not be at Wrestle Kingdom given the way a lot of stories are coming together. Was definitely expecting Shota against Mox at WK though, maybe there's more brewing there with how nonspecific Mox was in that promo. Literally just said he'd come to NJPW and didn't name an opponent, despite the fact Shingo has been trying to beat every Death Rider possible. Maybe Takagi is a Power Struggle match?

Takagi’s definitely the Power Struggle match and then Mox will challenge Shota after whatever title defense Shota has later on that show (probably ZSJ).

Wrestle Kingdom this year is looking like it’s gonna be a lot of the new gen guys vs. AEW guys. Shota/Mox, Oiwa/MJF, and Newman/Ospreay seem like locks for the show. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Tsuji/Okada be the main event (as much as I want Tsuji/Uemura) so Okada finally puts somebody over. Plus, the Knockout Brothers are talking a lot about AEW and mentioned wanting to wrestle Cope and Cage (who have also talked about wanting to work the Dome). I’m personally torn on that direction, but business wise it’s probably the wise move.

as much as i would love okada homecoming to put someone over, i feel like tsuji's already been given so much. i don't think he really needs (or, honestly, deserves) the okada rub

Especially when Uemera vs. Okada would be way better with all the Rainmaker vs. Deadbolt reversals they’d cram into a match.

The thing is, Tsuji has (in the past) been one of the biggest critics of Okada's decision to go to AEW. I believe he said something to the effect of, "He's disgracing the legacy he built in New Japan by taking ¥200m to say 'bitch' and be a meme."

WE may not think Tsuji needs the Okada rub, but kayfabe!Tsuji absolutely thinks that he needs it.

Which is why asuminh all the other aew guys lose( i dont think mjf will tbh ) this is a good match to not make aew look too weak

4

u/nunboi 14h ago

Funny if anyone were to lose I'd bet it would be MJF after he gets an absolute ton of heat during the build.

I remember in the reports for Tanahashi's retirement match, they all said Okada had no interest in going back to Japan unless it was for a very special occasion

I was an avid NJPW watcher until the pandemic. I've completely fallen off now and havent watched a single show for (checks calendar) holy shit over half a decade.

I'm sure theres probably a lot of western fans like me that moved to AEW and miss NJPW but find it a bit daunting with all my favourites either aging out (Ishii, Suzuki, Naito) or being in AEW (Okada, Kenny, Jay White). A WK card like that would be a perfect way to intro all the new guys and get me back in.

I dont watch AEW full time anymore so I have a wrestling shaped hole in my life that a monthly NJPW show could fill quite nicely.

Good call,, a first time match up between Shota and Zack

1

u/funnyboylmao 10h ago

Obviously Shota didn’t win so this won’t happen, but it makes sense and it would’ve lined up with how New Japan books. ZSJ beat (and legit concussed) Shota in the G1, Shota would be looking for revenge. It’s not a first time match obviously, but would’ve made logical booking sense.

u/Far-Restaurant-9455 10h ago

Lol I know I was joking just because that match has happened like three times a year for the past four years seemingly

I'm hoping it's Zack and Aaron at Power Struggle. No clue what's in store for poor Shota. Worst booking decision all year

1

u/funnyboylmao 9h ago

I think Zack/Wolf is the Tokyo Dome match. Can’t really see where either guy fits in otherwise.

I was thinking Aaron and Boltin vs. KOB but that's just fantasy booking really. Definitely think there's something there with Aaron and KOB

Shingo being Moxley's warm up match before Umino sounds best, he's been good for that sort of thing before big matchups (O-Khan in 2023 before Ospreay/Finlay, Shingo in 2024 before Naito). Shingo also called out Moxley directly after beating Claudio

Power Struggle may be lacking big matchups based on how tonight's card plays out, and Shingo/Mox only happened in Japan during G1 Climax 29, their more recent match was in the US

Takagi at Power Struggle makes the most sense, so they can have him come out after the Shota match to challenge and finally get the blowoff to the Shota v Mox story

They can take skinny jeans Mox from my cold dead hands

11

u/BigPappaBear 21h ago

That outfit was the tits. I'm tired of black skinny jeans and boots Mox

Shingo v Mox at WK it is then. And MJF v Oiwa. And Ospreay v Newman. More of a Forbidden Door show than the last few Forbidden Doors.

26

u/funnyboylmao 23h ago

Shingo/Mox is probably at Power Struggle. Moxley will probably wrestle Shota Umino at Wrestle Kingdom to pay off their story.

I think Tsuji might be defending against Okada, too.

I was lucky enough to see Mox/Shingo live so a rematch sounds dope

12

u/BrownAJ 22h ago

San Jose show? You were so lucky to see this and then the Okada Ospreay match

4

u/I_am_Amphibian 22h ago

Yup! It was a blast

2

u/BrownAJ 22h ago

Iirc Kingston got hurt on the same show? Also had a banger Giulia and Trish Adora match

2

u/I_am_Amphibian 22h ago

I don’t remember Kingston getting hurt but I could be forgetting. Seeing Giulia live was great but she had the weird new theme at the time and not Gloria

2

u/DeviantDragon #Axelmania 20h ago

No, in that San Jose show Eddie and Kidd fought to a double count out to set up the future match where Eddie got injured. Was one of the more entertaining double count out matches I can remember watching.

1

u/BrownAJ 20h ago

Oh yeah that's right

1

u/JuggernautLevel6411 20h ago

Id pay for those 2 matches alone

12

u/justambrose 22h ago

Mox last match in Japan was against EVIL back in 2024. Glad to see him back. I’m assuming he’s facing Shota at WK after Shingo.

2

u/spectrewrestlling 22h ago

He wrestled Evil man I've missed alot

10

u/Nazirul_Takashi Dandiest Puro Wrestler Ever 21h ago

Bold for Mox to come back while Yano is still around

6

u/BrownAJ 22h ago

Mox saw Ospreay in a random NJPW house show and immediately called Rocky lol

5

u/Random0cassions 23h ago

Shooter v Mox for the Global at WK seems inveitable

I wonder who Tsuji will face, if its okada. Thats the slam dunk scenario NJPW would want to guarantee to EVERYONE who they consider their Top guy going forward. If its MJF, still a great pick because of how delusional MJF is to make a build work between one another

2

u/AneeshRai7 22h ago

Mox vs Shingo is one of my favorite early Mox matches after he left WWE.

It’s also such a brilliant showcase on how to put over the losing party. Mox who had so far done different things to put down his opponents basically had to break down Shingo with ground game to win proving how touch Shingo is.
