this picture never seems to get old for me. it was taken after i sold my tesla, to get away from whatever irrationality crisis he was in, and his lack of good ethics, and the lack of principles of board members who refuse to fire him. I already had made my move, but what a strange way for him to make his big reveal and confirm that my decision had some basis. Was he trying to see if he could pull a Trump and engage in a big lie while simultaneously appealing to the disaffected actual bigoted nazis that he values so highly? I've met a nazi or two and to a limited extent i would trust them before i would trust musk again. At least they admit and are up front as to what they believe.
There is a decent book out there that is called Nazi Billionaires. I've only read (listened to) a few chapters but it is about the wealthy and powerful WWII German industrialists who curried favor with the dictator. More than one of the families was behind innovative German automakers that are still around (both the cars and the families?). Is this Musk's path? Are his descendants generations from now strengthened or weakened in how much wealth and power they will have by his support for present day right wing authoritarian murderous bigoted anti rule of law thugs? Is this the type of lesson he would look for in the book?

He has posts all that time that only have 1-3k likes. I just saw a couple from 4 days ago with only 3k likes. I imagine when they were fresh, they likely only had 1-2k likes. Just like his recent posts.
Elon is scum. Calling Trump garbage would be a profound kindness. I’m interested and enthused by the effect destroying a Russian data center has had on the US propaganda machine.
AND this all has made me curious about the complicity of online platforms in said propaganda. There is certainly a technical question about detecting bots, but perhaps there should be a legislative component. Maybe legislators should push to require online platforms of a certain size to rigorously verify that their user base is overwhelmingly free of fake accounts.
If I could snap my fingers and implement a program, I might try to convene an impartial panel of experts to collaboratively set the bar for those online platforms and then codify it into law so it can be enforced. The effectiveness of enforcement is a whole different question but let’s not open that can of worms right now.
I mention all of this only because I have heard so much discussion about uprooting bots from the source (an undoubtedly important part of the picture) but very little discussion about the role platforms play in enabling the negative effects of bots.
Above all Russia is trying to get the USA to destroy itself. They don't necessarily like Elon (they do love oligarchs though), they like how polarizing Elon is and overall negative effect he has on this country. Russia's dream endgame is the USA having a 2nd Civil War and balkanizing itself.

The problem with the narrative
The evidence does not establish that conclusion.
The measured bots were largely web crawlers. Yandex operates automated systems that index websites, much like Googlebot. Those systems generate enormous amounts of legitimate automated traffic.
Cloudflare wasn't counting propaganda accounts. Its widely circulated chart measured HTTP requests originating from Yandex's network, not how many accounts were posting political material on X, Reddit, Facebook, or other platforms.
Russian bot traffic more broadly did not exhibit the same collapse. According to reporting by The Verge, Cloudflare's measurements showed that overall automated traffic from Russia remained largely unchanged.
Claims about political movements losing online engagement are unverified. A widely circulated chart purportedly showing collapsing engagement around Germany's AfD party has been challenged over inconsistencies, including a date that hadn't occurred yet.
