Take offs and landings never get old. I don't care much you fly or in what class. It's just incredible we can do this.

Yes! I do think there's a level of rich you can get to where you are dead inside and feel nothing at the wonder of flight, but they probably wouldn't be sitting in those seats lmao

There was a period there for a few years where I was flying multiple times a year. I have flown to Japan and back several times and taken multiple domestic trips in Asia and the United States. Taking off and landing is fucking badass. The only thing that has changed is that the feelings of dread I had initially as we took off were replaced by the anxiety of having to sit with all of these people for however many hours. Some people make flying miserable. I just try to keep to myself and read, play a game, or watch a movie/show. Otherwise, I’m going to try to sleep. I have to take my shoes off but I promise my feet won’t be your problem in any way. I just can’t bear the swelling with laced shoes on.

I've only gotten to fly once but it was so fucking cool. Sometimes I bring up the video I took of takeoff and landing just to kinda-sorta experience it again
I saw a windfarm! The windmills looked like toothpicks and were about as tall as the I on my keyboard, and the giant-from-ground-level semi-trucks on the road looked like tiny Tic-Tacs. I was stuck to the window the entire time we were in the air

I have over 19,500 hours flying different military and civilian planes over a span of 44 years and I 100 percent agree with you, it never gets old. in fact, if I am working in my yard or out for a walk and a plane passes overhead I just stop everything and look up. It must be so sad to be blasé about such things.

This is the way.
I would rather have 5 layovers cross country(provided i stay out of o'hare). Airports are cool... Take-offs and landings are awesome.

I agree! I love flying so much and taking off is my favorite part. I also like layovers in different airports, I love seeing all the different architecture and designs. Jumping out of them is also great fun

Lol. I will leave an aircraft with a rope, but not that little umbrella.

Eh I’ve done it 5 times and never had the fear of dying. The people I jumped were professionals and had hundreds of jumps in. It’s realistically safe, most deaths are because inexperienced people panic and don’t pull their chutes on time or they don’t listen to their instructor and do something they probably shouldn’t have.

Yeah, I mean there's a whole sub on here for views from planes r/windowseat
I'm flying into Sharjah later today and I've booked a window seat hoping I'm on the right side to see the Burj Khalifa and the mad artificial islands in Dubai as we go past.

I live in the flight path and it's cool seeing a familiar area from a different viewpoint. I've not thought to record it though.

I also live in a flight path. I love recording when I know we are going past my house.
At night, I have smart lights under my deck that I turn on in flight super bright so I can see my house.
It's the little things.

Do you announce to the rest of the passengers that you can see your house from there? I totally would. I do anyway, but if I had deck lights I would also point while saying it.

Haha. A very good question.
I was flying home two weeks ago and I made friends with my seatmate. I was so excited to show her my house, but they used the opposite end of the runway..
That was the only time that actually told someone, but holy hell, I'm tempted every damn time!

I was worried for a second that this was me but then I remembered that the last time I flew I was wearing a sleeveless shirt

The low income folks appear to be taking in every aspect of their lives. The higher income folks observing them appear to be staring into an abyss of comparing apples and oranges, as life passes them by.
I am really disappointed at the low income folks for not wasting their time on comparisons as well.

Sitting in the row behind the “accused” and also filming during landing

Apparently, low-income people also like recording other low-income people. Honestly, I have no idea how humanity has made it this far.
Where do I sign up to be the first to go to Mars?

I will be you and the tech bros at first, so…

u/DeaconFrost613 9h ago
Are you encouraging me to go postal when I arrive? Pretty sure we are screwed either way.

u/walkscotter 9h ago
Yes, and then you get to do a lot of drugs and drive around and rename vulcanoes and canyons.

u/DeaconFrost613 9h ago
Do I get to make a movie about it? This seems like a really shitty edition of Interstellar.

If i am lucky I can see either my home, my parents home or my brothers (depending on airport and wind) so yeah my Bachelor ass has a phone ready for that

I've seen passengers do it in first class, money doesn't buy intelligence, only good seats

u/Local-Echo-5613 11h ago
I don’t equate curiosity with a lack of intelligence, although I have noticed a negative correlation between snobbery and intelligence.
