Feels good man Russian disinformation bot traffic nearly eliminated overnight after Ukraine drone strikes cripple multiple Russian data centers.

Destroying bot farms should honestly be standard on every country's foreign policy.

I'm worried that it'll only take a week before they've deployed to standard cloud providers. Running in their own data centers simply reduced the costs. Elon and other oligarchs will be more than happy to foot the bill if it means maintaining the propoganda pressure.

If bombing cloud providers became the norm, it wouldn't take long for the farms to adapt, not to mention the damage to infrastructure and services normal people use.

I'm a site reliability engineer. The technology is there for withstanding a datacenters outage. The redundancy is easily tunable. Gracefully degrading has been a thing we engineer into our backends for over a decade. There isn't much collateral damage with these Russian data centers as it was almost entirely servicing Russian citizens and had 0 to 3 hops of directly influencing the front lines. With a standard cloud provider it mostly hurts a wide swath of worldwide companies. Much better to target them with regulation against sanctioned countries. They'll still find a way to get their compute with shell companies, but at least we can do whack-a-mole.

A lot of countries use bot farms, maybe every country by now.
