Yeah, there are plenty of rich guys that are very fit. In fact, among the upper classes it's more common to be healthy and have hobbies that get you exercise than the reverse. For example, all the millions of people running marathons? You don't have the time or energy to train for stuff like that if you aren't at least financially secure.

Triathlon is full rich guys with time on their hands…same with cycling. Ladies, leave the spin class and get a bike. You’ll land a rich dude who’s fit.

I work with someone who is definitely considered working class and runs marathons. She’s a beast. Gets up at like 4am and runs more miles than some of us drive and then gets to work. Some people are just about that life.

And the comment below yours- lol my uncle is cyclist and he’s an underpaid teacher. Rides all across the country. Idk, seems like a lot of cope. You know what neither of them are doing right now? Spending hours on reddit. I’d like to say spending hours doomscrolling on reddit is a sure sign of financial success, but typically it’s the opposite isn’t it

Why are you so angry? First off, nobody is saying there aren't working class people that exercise. I wasn't even commenting on them at all, actually. Just specifically referencing my experience with wealthier individuals as well as the sport I am involved in.

For wealthy people they quite often have something that keeps them fit, whether that's gym, running, hiking, biking, etc.

Per this 2022 survey of 5,500+ runners , 81% of their respondents make 50k or more. That's middle class and above. Again, financially secure. Accounting only for those making 100k and above and you still hit 50%. Having a good backing in life makes it easier to commit to and maintain healthy exercise.

Other reports I've seen for data is SFIA (Sports & Fitness Industry Association) survey for trail running. In that, those who make LESS than 50k are only 9% - those who make more are the majority percentage at 91%. Feel free to examine the data on both for yourself.

And secondly, not only can you see this fact with scientific data, I am also speaking on anecdotal experience. I am a sub-20 minute 5k runner, with over a decade+ of running and participation in events. From everyone I've interacted and made friends with, there are very few people that are regular runners that aren't financially stable, and there is definitely an over representation of wealthier individuals involved, usually for a desire to maintain mental/physical health, better themselves, or a competitive drive. This continues to be true even for the wealthier individuals I know who aren't specifically involved in running, they usually have some way of keeping fit. Once you reach a certain level of wealth, you begin to realize that the only thing you can't get more of is time, which good health provides you.

But feel free to keep making snide remarks and thinly veiled aspersions about people who make Reddit comments. The site which you, yourself, is participating in.
