made a site that picks movies based on the song stuck in your head

i always know what mood i want at night but never what to watch. usually there's one song on repeat and i end up scrolling netflix for 40 min and watching nothing

so i made soundtrackd.app. you type a song and it gives you films and shows with the same feel, with a line on why. fast car by tracy chapman gives nomadland and friday night lights. also works the other way, film to songs

free, no signup. just launched it, solo, from turkey. if the picks for your song are way off pls tell me, or drop a song and i'll reply with what it says Check it out here

fun idea. throwing one at it: Holocene by Bon Iver. if it comes back with anything set in winter in a small town it's working.

ok it passed i think. manchester by the sea is in there (winter, small town, grief), and winter’s bone, which is cold rural ozarks. top of the list was nomadland, the leftovers and first cow. it read the song as “smallness and sudden grace against a vast, indifferent landscape” and put the setting as snowy rural wisconsin, so it knew where the song lives

the miss is before sunset at the bottom, that’s paris in summer lol. what would you have picked?

manchester by the sea is a direct hit. first cow is a deep cut too, I'll take that as a pass.

ha, Holocene was half cheating as a test. next time I'll throw it something with no obvious setting at all and see what it does.
