Calling women “whores” because of their gym clothes is ridiculous. But assuming every woman needs rescuing from that word is patronizing too. Some women proudly do sex work, and some reclaim the label themselves. They don’t need Dan Levy speaking for them.

That doesn’t give strangers permission to call them whatever they want. It means respecting women includes letting them decide what offends them.
