SATURDAY Previewing The Upcoming Starting Pitching Class
https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2026/10/previewing-the-upcoming-starting-pitching-class.htmlDavid Peterson sticks out as a potential fit just for the left-handedness and the innings. Same thing for his current Cubs teammate Imanaga.
Cal Quantrill seems like the type of ground ball artist the Giants have been hunting for in recent years.
Maybe a vet like Zac Gallen on a 1-year deal to see if there's anything left in the tank there.
Freddy Peralta could be a match if Adames is still around, they were teammates in Milwaukee.
Kris Bubic on a 1 year deal injury bounceback could make a lot of sense. Dodgers using him out of the pen for playoffs, but he'll likely seek starting opportunity.
I think they sign at least 1, maybe two veteran starting pitchers. Making a trade would involve good prospect capital which the Giants aren't really in position to part with.

Unfortunately it’s a pretty weak class for one of the Giants biggest needs. Unless they miraculously land Skubal, don’t expect much spending on that front.

I hear Tyler Mahle might hit the market.

If hes willing to sign sure, his performance with us and the braves was good

People say this every year with pitching free agency. At this point you’re paying for what they can potentially do and most importantly inning eaters.

Considering ownerships budget constraints, I'm hoping for something like Gausman and Bubic

I’ve wanted Sonny Gray to join ever since he was in Oakland. Multiple years he’s been on the move and I keep saying he’s who we want on the mound. Maybe it’ll finally happen.

Pffffffff, scratch all that. Gimme a vet that’s coming back off Tommy John on a prove it deal. That’s the Giants’ Way.

I would think with the farm in the state it's in, they'd be willing to make one deal from it provided the right starter is made available. Given their history of no big, long-term contracts, I'd think a trade would almost be their default play, unless one year deals are all they're interested in.

This team has not done anything to earn a trade like that coming off of 97 losses. Trading a Level or Bresnahan and setting yourself back further to appease this group would be a monumental mistake. It would be the Reynolds for Cutch trade all over again.

Idk why I always thought Gallen would fit the giants vibe.
