It was supposed to be a top rope powerbomb reversed into a top rope frankensteiner but BJ lost his footing when Jimmy went up.

It’s not as if they were going for that as the actual spot.

I was in the crowd for that one. Was super shocked Jimmy was just okay somehow. Jimmy Jacob's and BJ Whitmer had some pretty wild ones in Detroit back in the day.

What was best-case scenario?

Powerbomb into the ring

Geez, I know he slipped, but it almost looked like he was aiming for a powerbomb on the turnbuckle.

Nah, BJ would do the powerbomb into the ring sometimes. He just lost his balance here.

If I'm not misremembering, they redid this spot intentionally in a later match.

That’s even crazier!

These two were very dumb in those days.

No way in hell.

That was going to be reversed into a top rope frankensteiner from Jimmy but BJ lost his footing.

I think about this every time someone tries to do a powerbomb from the top.

Good god. Did they injure fans with that one?

Horrific angle but looks like they just landed on the first two rows full force .

Jimmy Jacobs needed neck surgery later... One of my all time ROH favorites not being as smart as he was with characters/promos here...

I was at that show! We thought we watched Jimmy die.

This was peak ROH for me. 2003-2008 was amazing.
