Don't use AI in intro classes. You need to learn the basics of writing software or you're just a vibe coder. We don't need more vibe coders.....

I am so glad my profs are not using AI checkers
EDIT: I’ll probably get downvoted even more for this, but it’s not because I crutch on AI, I don’t. I’m not even in CS. I just hate the kind of teachers that treat AI detectors like they’re foolproof, even though those AI detectors are almost always based on the AI they’re supposed to detect anyways. I’ve seen AI checkers flag things like the Bee Movie script or a paragraph out of Frankenstein, and it’s not difficult to see how it could falsely flag human-written code as AI

It was using commit times and lines generated between commits.
You can't write 200 lines of code in 5 minutes so it's a little easier to find people who are copy pasting code from prompts.

Here’s the thing, I think using AI is fine and isn’t cheating. At the end of the day you hold yourself accountable and obvious knowledge checks like tests and practicals should be the barrier of entry to test material readiness. If students can use AI to pass your class then you didn’t design a good class. All the poindexters here point towards AI as cheating but so is having someone else do all the work for you and I assure you that was going on years before AI existed.
The responsibility of the education falls upon the institution and the staff. Someone shouldn’t be punished for saving time on a bullshit assignment they are going into damn near generational debt to pay for. I think a lot of people here are just pearl clutching and whining that they took time to do the work while others cut corners. That’s life though

The goal of CS is to be able to build projects. Building projects takes a long time, and is not something you can do on a test. Thus, CS needs to have you build projects as homework.
Having some AI do your projects for you doesn't help you learn CS.

If you're told you can't use AI and you do anyway, that IS cheating, and it doesn't matter what you "think" about it.

Can someone explain the lore on this class? I’m guessing some hard STEM shit? I’m a humanities student and went to a different undergrad so I’m not familiar
