Why are they allowed to wear face masks?

In Denver they arenāt. And so federal government sues Denver over law enforcement mask ban.

u/SlamperDamper 4h ago
The claim is that the radical terrors in the streets are doxing them and endangering them if they identify them so they need to hide their identities for their safety.
Ouroboros continues
-21
u/KatInThighHighs 6h ago
Because people keep doxing them and sending them death threats. They uh... don't exactly want an ICE agent and his family die after their house gets set alight.

Should have reached in there, locked the doors, and shut the door.

They have keyless entry. Cop would just need to press the button on the door.

u/M0ebius_1 8h ago
There are no cops in this video
-51
u/Canadian_Kartoffel 8h ago
Oh yes, this guy is a cop. Ain't no real difference between local police or ICE.
Neither of them is on the side of the people.
5
u/Yuzumi_ 3h ago
Imagine being so confidently uneducated that you mistake two different law enforcement agencies with different jurisdictions, legal authorities, and responsibilities as being legally identical, then proudly announce it in public.
You can dislike both ICE and local police all you want, but that doesn't magically erase the legal distinctions between them. One primarily enforces federal immigration law, while the other primarily enforces state and local law.
Criticizing institutions is fine. Advertising that you don't understand how they work while acting intellectually superior is a whole different level of embarrassing.
1
u/excidium_1221 26m ago
But... there was no mention of legal distinction, or responsiblties, in the comment you're replying too. Maybe they've made other comments on the topic that I haven't dug into, but you this one can be read as a comparison of how the agencies treat people, which some could argue, is the same.
0
u/Yuzumi_ 23m ago
Then they should've specified that. āThere's no real differenceā is a blanket statement, not a specific criticism of how they treat people. If they meant their conduct is similar, that's debatable. But you can't assume that's what they meant and act like every other interpretation is invalid.
-2
u/bman86 2h ago
My friend, his vest says police on it. He, without a doubt, calls himself a cop. If they're making arrests, other leos would call him by rank, and then specify ice. They support each other and work with each other, regardless of legal distinction.
The second sentence is their opinion.
And the third sentence is the truth.
2
u/Yuzumi_ 2h ago
My guy, nobody is arguing that ICE agents aren't law enforcement officers or that they don't cooperate with local police. You're arguing against a point nobody made.
The claim was that there's no real difference between local police and ICE. There absolutely is a legal difference. They operate under different jurisdictions, enforce different laws, and have different statutory powers. Wearing a vest that says āPOLICEā doesn't magically make those distinctions disappear loll.
And pointing out that law enforcement agencies cooperate with each other doesn't prove they're legally interchangeable. The FBI works with local police, too. Does that mean there's no real difference between an FBI agent and a municipal cop?
You can criticize both institutions without pretending their legal differences don't exist. Those two things aren't mutually exclusive.
-2
u/bman86 2h ago
Are we reading the same chain of comments? Nobody is arguing anything except whether or not this guy is a cop or not.
Conditions that matter to this point in the thread: Could he lock the door with his cop mandated keyless entry? No cause he's not a cop.
Other dude: Yes he is.
You from the top rope: nope because federal distinction.
Nah man, they're doing the same thing as cops, dress like cops, equipped like cops, with the same attitude as cops, with slightly different suspects - and they both have keyless fobs.
3
u/Yuzumi_ 1h ago
Then maybe read what I'm actually saying instead of arguing with a point I never made.
If you're using ācopā colloquially to mean a law enforcement officer, then yes, an ICE agent can reasonably be called a cop. But that doesn't make ICE and local police legally interchangeable. They operate under different jurisdictions and have different statutory powers.
And the keyless-entry argument is a separate issue. Having a badge, uniform, or law enforcement job doesn't automatically establish that someone has access to a particular building.
You're arguing terminology; I'm distinguishing legal authority. Those are two different arguments.

u/Accomplished-Idea358 27m ago
ICE are not members of the police union. They are federal agents, not police.

u/kingtacticool 9h ago
They got an app on their phone that locks and unlocks the door. Whomp whomp

u/Affectionate_Step863 9h ago
no, they in fact do not
that is some of the most made up sounding shit I've ever heard
-7
u/CD338 8h ago
I mean thats not crazy technology. Cars equipped with onstar can do it.
8
u/Affectionate_Step863 8h ago
sure, in general, but please provide a single source verifying their use on police/ICE vehicles, I cannot find a single source which supports your claim

u/ScienceAndLience 9h ago
Have you been in a car before?

u/JamesTheJerk 9h ago
Yes. Normally I'd shut the door and then lock it.
61
u/Bears-on-Drugs 9h ago
Lmao, sounds like you locked your reading comprehension inside a car with you outside of it.
He's saying lock the ICE agent out of his car while his keys are still inside of it and the ICE agent is not inside of it.
-27
u/JamesTheJerk 9h ago
Yeah. Another commenter explained that peculiarly just before you did.
36
u/Bears-on-Drugs 9h ago
Im not reading all the comments of you doubling down on your lack of reading skills. Im responding to the dumb one you posted 7 minutes before my reply
-25
u/JamesTheJerk 9h ago
Don't care. Reading is on you.
27
u/A3HeadedMunkey 9h ago
Is this one of those irony things? Where you didn't comprehend the reading, but now you're telling others they need to spend their time catching up with your failures?
25
u/KabukiJake 9h ago
not sure if "you can't read" is a clever retort to him factually calling out your inability to read

11
u/QuarkstoLaniakea 9h ago
How are you going to lock the shut door of a car you don't have a key to?
-7
u/JamesTheJerk 9h ago
I don't know what doors you're into, but I can tell you this: if a door isn't shut, it can't be locked.

Notice how he also started driving towards the person recording yet no one had to fire their gun in fear of their life

The officer was driving towards them, he turned his wheels to face him. By their own reasoning the whistleblowers life is being threatened.
Rene was shot and the man in the Bronx was shot while being in the same position as someone whose reaction isnāt to be scared but to whistle louder.

There were free whistles everywhere in Minneapolis.. local restaurants, bars, etc. participated. Viva la Whistle!

u/juggling-monkey 9h ago
when he got to the other side he should locked the door and closed it then skipped away blowing his whistle

Redditors think weāre living under fascism yet you can harass and impede federal law enforcement and nothing happensĀ
42
u/tempusfudgeit 9h ago
You're so right. We should wait until we can't protest to start protesting.
-14
36
u/SquireSquilliam 9h ago
Except, things do happen. People get shot, Alex Pretti got shot for less. People go missing in ICE "custody." Lawyers can't find them, family can't find them, ICE "can't" find them. This is how fascism starts. So please forgive people if they decide they don't want to wait for the end result of a full fascist takeover before getting involved.
20
u/ins0mniac_ 9h ago
Until they shoot and kill you with impunity.. like they have killed several American citizens and god knows how many immigrants at their concentra-.. I mean detention centers.
15
u/geekmasterflash 9h ago
It's only real fascism if it comes from the German school of police brutality. Everything else is just sparkling domestic artisanal authoritarianism.
8
u/AwesomeBrainPowers 9h ago
Kweenick thinks that the ability to play a prank on an out-of-shape agent of state violence and not face immediate charges somehow invalidates the fascist crackdown of an insane would-be authoritarian's paramilitary hit squad that literally murdered a man in the fucking street.
16
u/buttononmyback 9h ago
I guess but then thereās people that hardly do anything and are killed for it. RIP Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti.

u/RabbitStewAndStout 9h ago
Are you suggesting the cameraman's life was being threatened by a masked and paid agitator, and he should've defended himself with a firearm?
1
u/lvl100-Platypus-Lord 3h ago
Resisting the slide into fascism is a better way too put it. Thats why people are mad because we see whats coming
