I have seen enough videos to learn, the Thai people don't mess around, everyone there agrees with street justice.

If I ever visit there, I will be on my best behavior lol

Or just be on your best behavior no matter where you go.

Wow. Neurons kicking into over drive for this idea! /s

Seriously though.

Just be nice to everyone, always, wherever. ESPECIALLY When it isn’t YOUR home, town, city, province, or Country.

Not "especially when...." always. Just always...

Yes! I’m just saying be extra careful when you’re not at home.

I said that first! Everyone, always, whenever!

Thai people don’t start shit with foreigners.

But they will absolutely finish it, if pushed too far.

Couldn’t agree less, when I went with my fiancĆ©e last year almost every day someone tried causing trouble with us. Whether it’s cat calling my girl, following us, one guy verbally harassed me the whole way down the street without me even making eye contact with the guy. Literally can’t get a moment of piece and I went around the whole country

Imagine growing up in the first world thinking you know the ā€œstreetsā€, but you’re never been to a third world country or developing country. There’s levels to this.

Most Thais aren't confrontational. Touristy areas don't accurately reflect the country (neither does calling it "third world). They'll usually go out of their way to avoid violence/drama to a degree not commonly seen in Western nations to maintain harmony. However, "fairness" and "proportionality" don't exist among Thai fighting etiquette.

When they do fight, they tend to be strong in numbers only, fight in gangs, or use weapons. There's no such thing as fighting with honor here. For these reasons, it best to avoid altercations unless someone wants to get jumped 10 to 1, or even 20 to 1.

The video is in a tourist trap surrounded by drunk/high people, a lot of whom casually smoke methamphetamine, so the mob mentality easily takes over.

Absolutely wrong. Not confrontational in a sense that if youre just annoying they wont speak out about it and just ignore you. Being dicks like what theyre doing in the video is inviting people to jump you

Doesn’t matter. StReeTs, Yo

As a general rule, don't pick a fight with the locals in typical 'tourist trap' places.... They have plenty of experience and pent up frustration dealing with drunk and disorderly tourists....

I'm with you. Anyone going to foreign countries with the big man on campus atittude shouldn't go. That's why I tend to avoid foreigners here altogether, and associate with Thais.

That's nonsense. This stuff happens all the time and everywhere. They do not magically create this attitude by going into a tourist area, they bring it with them from upcountry.

Most Thais are not confrontational. Outside of Japan, out of the 37 countries I’ve been to, Thailand is the 2nd least confrontational. I’ve lived in Thai areas and of course been to tourist areas so what exactly is nonsense?

It’s a street fight. If you want honor or a 1v1 go to a ring.

u/InThatDarkPlace 1h ago

Or one could not fight at all and avoid the unpredictability of risking serious injury, death, or prison, and smoke weed in the dispensary shown in the video.

they are like the locals at the end of Roadhouse… no one saw anything.

Even for a french tourist acting a knob 10 to 1 isa bit heavy.

Luckily no one pulled out a machete

Not even worth it for these douchebags

2

u/UseMoreHops 6h ago

I’m kinda pro street justice now.

u/cmicpace 5h ago

Not even best behavior is needed. Just don’t be a complete twat and you’ll get by fine.

u/Mathilliterate_asian 5h ago

Yeah lol my motto is to not start shit anywhere I general, but when you're potentially facing someone who's been learning muay Thai since 5 years old, causing a ruckus there is certainly a choice.

It's often not justice is the problem
