Religious Freakout Florida Lady arrested for flashing a group of Christians after they repeatedly approached her table to preach
261
u/TheLadyEve 16h ago
How is that allowed, for people to harass other patrons at a restaurant? I've been to TX Roadhouse and I get that being a mega Christian is a norm for many of the patrons there, but the establishment should have kicked out the harassers.
69
u/jillsalwaysthere 13h ago
1 star review and give them a shout out on social media for not protecting their patrons.
16
u/TheLadyEve 13h ago
Exactly, punish them with your wallet and by telling the truth about their business. You don't even have to bring religion into it, that's just a distraction, just say "other patrons would not leave our table and management would not intervene, I'm not coming back because I value my peace when I dine out. Don't go here if you expect the staff to help you have a nice meal."

Those "christians" need mental health help to get out of their religous psychosis delusions.
317
u/Maximum-Today3944 16h ago
They could literally go do any of the good works Jesus outlined like feeding the hungry or housing the unhoused. Nope. Let's annoy people at dinner.
136
u/Impressive_Tour6348 16h ago
Instead of doing any of the things Jesus said to do, like be kind or treat the foreigner well, they choose to do one of the few things Jesus told them specifically not to do: preach in the street for their own fulfillment.
Itâs kind of amazing how little of the actual message they got from their own book.
39
u/captain_nofun 16h ago
They never read it bruv. They just had specifics read to them. It only took a few years old 8 year me going to church every week to hear the same sermon on the same day every year. Not many actually read that shit, but I did, which is why I'll stick to Jesus's teaching and say goodbye to any form of god or religion. I can get behind what Jesus preached though.
28
u/Impressive_Tour6348 15h ago
Itâs actually why Iâm Sikh instead of Christian now. Sikhs tend to live the way Christians are supposed to.
I actually do believe in being kind and that weâre here to serve others, which is no longer a Christian thing.
17
u/dropkickoz 15h ago
I grew up in the church and am non-religious now, but the Sikhs are the ones I see "walking the walk" most often.
10
u/One-Sleep3663 15h ago edited 15h ago
Sikhism just copies and mimicks the exact same beleifs and behaviors that Christianity entails, but in a more appealing way that doesnt at face value seem as opressive.
I still see the same sexism, transphobia, and homophobia we see in Christianity, in Sikhism, and the religion doesnt account for those with medical conditions who cannot shave facial hair.
Instead they are just told to suck it up and "deal with it". There is a huge lack of disability education in Sikh communities.
I stopped taking an interest in the religion after all that bigotry.
8
u/JuggaloJedi187 14h ago
Satanism.
Read the Satanic Bible and you will find that you most likely align with these beliefs more than anything else.
3
u/McFetustrami 12h ago
Never met a Sikh that wasn't a stand up person, always friendly and inoffensive.
4
u/cannibalistic_fawn 11h ago
I literally say this all the time. Jesus and I are cool, its his "followers" I take issue with.
17
u/Iamalittledrunk 16h ago
And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.
These Christians would be so upset if they knew their gospel.

u/One-Sleep3663 16h ago
I don't think people who believe in a bible that says to "dash children upon the rocks", and whose god committed a genocide by murdering the firstborn of egypt, are concerned about helping others.
13
u/SinnerBefore 16h ago
lol why would they do that when they can use it as an excuse to be an asshole to anyone not in their cult?
3
u/steelheaddan 15h ago
Then leave some god pamphlets instead of a tip for their server after being super needy, preachy and staying way too long at their table/stationâŚ.
5
u/Aggravating_Sky_4421 13h ago
I wholeheartedly believe that they are losing ground. More and more people are realizing that itâs a scam so less people have gone to church to donate. I honestly wouldnât even be mad if that donated money gone to actually helping less fortunate people. But this is seldomly the case. Youâll see these ministers roll up in their $100k car and church goers in their 15+ year old corollas giving 10% of their salary. Just blows my mind how they have gotten away with this for so damn longâŚ
1
u/SparkyDogPants 15h ago
Ask them what they think about the government doing XYZ (like public executions) and what they think Jesus would think of it. And I promise they will quickly leave.
2
u/SegulaFirst 16h ago
Careful, I got a warning saying something similar on this site for "hate speech" đ
5
u/MedvedFeliz 15h ago
If enough people have these delusions, it's called a cult. If the cult is big enough, it's a religion!
7
u/Knever 14h ago
Those "christians" need mental health
Do not use quotation marks for this. Quotes imply they are not real Christians, but they are.
1
1
u/One-Sleep3663 14h ago
I use quotation marks because organzied religion is a made up fairy tale
2
u/Knever 12h ago
I agree, but quotes undermine the premise. It assumes there are real Christians and fake Christians. It allows those who consider themselves to be true Christians to admonish those they consider to be fake Christians, when they are all in reality Christians working with an illogical understanding of life.
1
u/PsychologicalBox3477 7h ago
I agree
drop the â â around âchristiansâ and youâre 100% correct
Mental health and education should be encouraged not delusion.

I support Florida Lady. These Christian proselytizers are sooooooo aggressive, relentless, and insufferable. Sometimes I wonder if they are intentionally trying to provoke people, because they don't back off no matter how much you tell them to leave you alone.
19
u/Cumputer-Hacker 14h ago
That's how I feel when the summertime rolls around, and so do the Door-2-Door people on Hoverboards/Segways going up and down the street trying to sell some scam pest control/internet service!
Even me starting things off with, "Listen bro I juuuust said to fuck off, why are you still at my door??" will pretty much always be met with an, "Okay okay!...... But may I ask whyyyy the sudden No?". And they try to get you to keep the conversation going in order to hook you back into it, even if you're pissed off at them.
Even after several very firm NO's and very firm GO TF AWAY's, they would try to start yet ANOTHER conversation about me saying to go away, literally ANYTHING to keep the conversation engaged and continuing.
They try to look around at what you're doing so they can make some cheesy "Connection" by talking to you about something you're currently spending time on.. I was fixing my bicycle seat and these people came up to me saying, "Ahh! Upholstery day today ehh??" and I'm thinking to myself, "uh obviously fucking not bro my bike is in pieces all over the front yard and I'm obviously not doing anything with upholstery please just go away I'm not having a good day today ty".
Dude STILL had the nerve to keep talking to me about how he puts cheerful and happy music on his cell phone to "Cheer up the neighborhood" or something really cheesy... I had to kinda-sorta lose my shit so they get that I'm not interested, but then it looks like I'm this totally unreasonable ass dude that doesn't take to good ol' conversation.
It's hard to explain, but when the "Social Contract" is broken by pushing a scammy product/religious idea without fail, I can absolutely, positively see a situation where it's done intentionally to provoke people. They don't lose either way, they either gain a new follower/subscriber or they get to be validated in that people lose their shit when they're just trying to "Have a conversation" lol
11
u/R_Little-Secret 14h ago
I usually just say I'm already happy with my current religious provider as I try to hold back my barking dogs. That seems to work fast.

I don't think these people understand how insulting and a essentially a violation of personal "spiritual" pushing unwanted their religion on others. Her laugh is great.
39
u/jpparkenbone 15h ago
It's not really about that. Their preachers that push them to do this crap know that it won't convert anyone. What it does is get a hostile reaction and reinforce the feeling of isolation, otherness, and that Christianity is under attack (despite none of this being true) amd this helps keep them coming back to church and giving their hard earned money to the church. They are just as much a victim as the people they're sent out to harass.
3
u/CottageCheeseJello 13h ago
Exactly. The intent is to reinforce inherent tribalism. It's the same for Mormon missionaries. They don't actually convert many people.
3
u/Inverted-Rockets 11h ago
Theyâre also straight up going against the text they subscribe to.
Literally Matthew 6:1, 5â6:
"Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them... And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others."

I'm a Christian. You know what verse I pull out whenever I have annoying "christians" that refuse to leave you alone in public?
Matthew 6:6 from the NIV Bible:
But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
Because God damn do those performance christians get annoying as fuck.

u/Loubbe 13h ago
"Respectfully", what a lark. These self-righteous dorks won't take no for an answer. Their only goal is converting you. Failing that, they'll hang on to talk shop even if you are a christian.
No matter how kind and selfless you are. They are taught that without devoting your life to recruiting new followers to worhip their god, you deserve to burn for all eternity.
It's all so obvious and self-evident they say. It just makes sense, people just WANT to live an evil life in ignorance of their most benevolent, all-knowing creator. They are taught that it is their duty to brow-beat the entire world into submission to their god.
Fuck evangelism.

Serious question. As a guy, how do I handle this if it happens to me and a date? Do I get up from the table and get aggressive? Thatâs not my style and I donât want to be that particular YouTube video
Iâd like to believe that I would politely ask them to leave once or twice.
Maybe after they donât I go to management of the restaurant and tell them Iâve ordered but theyâre going to be sending it back to the kitchen and Iâm not going to be paying because leaving after Iâm being harassed while Iâm eating. And on that note, I wonder if the response from a facility, such as that would be the same if it was a woman that did the same thing.
My instinct would be that the facility didnât know they were going around prostletizing people at the tables.
10
u/TheLadyEve 16h ago
A restaurant is a private business--go to management and have them tresspassed if they won't leave you alone. If management won't accommodate, make sure you have the manager's name and let them know that you will not be coming back and you will leave a negative review. Then pay your bill and leave. That's what I would do.

u/Dafish55 16h ago
I'm going to assume you're straight and kissing a homie is out of the question lol.
Generally, these kinds of people don't see men as a viable target for this kind of prolonged, and, imo, kinda predatory behavior.
However, if you do find yourself in this position, you have the right idea. You be as polite as their approach towards you warrants, and escalate from there as is necessary.
If it gets to the point that you might shout, it's really not on you for making a scene at that point. They'd be the ones being utterly disrespectful towards you.
10
u/tres-vip 15h ago

Yup. They go after women. I'm a petite woman myself and have ALWAYS been a target of these people. They have gone as far as aggressively cornering me. This is why I said in comment below that I support Florida Lady. These people are predatory AF.Â

Iâd have to agree, Iâve been approached once in my short 25 years as a white dude and it was at the worst possible time while I was working filling up gas at a station. I kinda told them to fuck off after me politely refusing half a dozen times. I felt like an ass but was already late to my next job site,
Sorry yall but the world donât stop for anyone, even your God.
My sister on the other hand is 22 and she gets it a few times a year. Insane

Fair enough. And I am Heterosexual. Pretty sure.
But I also bury my anger and rage so by the second time, I asked them to leave and they donât, if Iâm having a meal with a consenting male, I would totally kiss that guy in front of them.
Fun fact. A friend of mine had a brutal divorce that involved a restraining order from his wife. She did it out of resentment. She worked at the court system. I had to go to court as a character witness to explain my friends mental state when he showed up at my house after the big blowup.
While I was there, I ran into some other mutual friends and it became clear to me. They were there for the Wife to testify on her behalf. They kept trying to tell me to talk to the wife. I told her I didnât need to do that. I was there for the courts and what is objectively observed, not for the couple directly. And when the Wife Of this couple tried to convince me that the restraining order was valid, then spoke up and said âI know youâre a good Christianâ I lost my shit and told her I wasnât. Her husband had to get between me and her in the lobby of the courtroom. Thatâs what happens when youâre recovering catholic.

Iâm leaning towards walking out and not paying the bill, making it the restaurants problem. Youâre there for a comfortable meal, not to be harassed and thatâs the implied contract when youâre eating somewhere. Youâre never going to change their minds, and they probably get off on the reactions.
2
u/Alternative-Dare5878 15h ago
I would do whatever it takes to convince them Iâm satan and that if they keep talking to me I get sustenance from their soul that I slowly erode.
2
u/ANTS_IN_MY_EYES_J 14h ago
Wife and I worked in restaurants when we were younger before we got big people jobs.
Talk to the manager. Be real with them. Don't be a Karen.
If that fails ask for your order to go then send an email to corporate, throw the manager under the bus if he/she was a dick. If it's a local joint, they're probably in on it.
Some chain restaurants incentivize their establishments to do fundraising events with local non profits. Group like this are bad for business.
Edit: if you're completely out of ducks to give, ask them if they were "that one church who's pastor was diddling kids".

2
u/Spartan2022 13h ago
Thatâs it. Let the manager know if they canât control the proselytizing, you wonât be paying.
We should be able to eat a juicy steak in peace without make believe sky fairy proselytizing.

It's a bit unethical but say you're from a different religion, really gets them preachers to quiet down abit, I have the M card on my side so preachers rarely try converting me, but i found in some cases smilling, sayong thank you, may the lord bless us all and guide us to the light, a good way to get them off your back

5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

I used to work at torrid in the mall, and one time this dude came in, walked around a bit, then when he got to the underwear table started screaming at us that we were all going to hell. We asked him to leave, which he did, but he then proceeded to pace back and forth and "pray" for us outside the store for about 15 minutes. My manager did call security, but he left before they got there.
