i really hope i will live to see an age of AI being used to make actual video game AI better. imagine strategy games where the computer does not play with cheats and with basic scripted logic but using actual AI.
Scripted logic can be learned by the player and figuring that out is part of the fun. An LLM is basically a glorified RNG algorithm with low consistecy. Two players can follow the same tutorial and have vastly different results because the AI decided on a different path out of nowhere.
In most games yes. Look at the entire soulslike genre for starters. In some strategy games (for example Anno) the AI simply can't grow fast enough without cheats to keep up with the player, which would make late-game mechanics boring.
i mean sure, in soulslike games there isnt much to improve on an enemy. it only needs to react to a small variance in situations. i was thinking of FPS and strategy games, because strategy games in singleplayer really suck IMO. real time or turn based, the AI is just too bad to be a challenge, unless it cheats hard
