PoliticalTea š³ļø Trump: "We will pass a truly great healthcare plan that will stop all payments to big insurance companies."
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
One year to the end of his second term, with the control of Whitehouse and Congress, he is still talking about a concept of healthcare plan. With midterms potentially bringing the change of control in the House, it will be hard to get a healthcare plan.

Does he understand how insurance works ?

He might be hinting at something I have seen from far-right Republicans online and from the most far-right person in my family, my step father.
The idea for healthcare reform that I have seen bubbling around on the far-right is the abolition of all health insurance. Not just Medicare and Medicaid, but private health insurance also. Their thinking is that this will force health care providers to reduce their prices to something that people can afford.
The question I ask then is, "Okay, let's say your plan works and they reduce prices. What happens if I need life saving surgery and they've cut the price from $400,000 down to only $80,000, but I still don't have the $80,000. What do I do then?"
"Get a loan from the bank or borrow it from family members."
"What if a bank won't loan me the money and my family members can't either?"
"Well then just start a Go Fund Me."
"What if I start a Go Fund Me, but it doesn't meet the amount or it doesn't meet the amount in time?"
"Then it will be like anything else you want but can't afford. You don't get to have it."
So yeah, I'm not an expert but I think that's the far-right's endgame for healthcare.

u/Jaegons 46m ago
I refuse to believe he would do that, given that any random insurance company could literally wire him a measly $1m and own him for the decision.
7
u/No_Entrepreneur_9134 41m ago
That's the thing I argued dirwctly with my step father about. "It's absolutely wild to me that a self-identified lifelong conservative Republican would be in favor of outlawing a multi-billion dollar industry."
"I don't care. Tired of paying for other people's healthcare."
Says the 66 year old, 280 pound severe diabetic.

u/barqySpaniel 12m ago
Is the step father on Medicare? Then āweā are subsidizing his coverage. He should be more thankful.
In all honesty, I donāt dig paying taxes. Nobody does. But I also donāt dig people being made destitute for necessary medical care. Seems like there should be a better way. And privatization is hardly the answer given how privatization has made emergency rooms vastly more expensive (cough profitable)

u/Schwarz_Is_With_You 47m ago
So, their Healthcare plan is no health care? That sounds like one of their plans
1
u/No_Entrepreneur_9134 44m ago
No health care for anyone who can't pay out of pocket, and no one paying for anyone else's healthcare in any way.
That seems to be their ideal fantasy utopia situation.

u/periwinkle_caravan 30m ago
As a Canadian this sounds like an excellent policy for the US to implement.

u/Investigator_Pedant 1h ago
No, but that wont stop him from grifting. He's already taking little kids money and using it to dump bad stocks, so now I feel like he will create his own insurance (like he made Trump Phone) where people give 1/3 of their pre-tax paycheck to a big insurance subsidy, probably named "America Insurance" or some BS. Bonus, this fat orange shitdiaper can say people can't call it Artificial intelligence because America Insurance is the new "AI." He/His family invests in America Insurance, and he/they take ownership in it. Grift + stupid/cult people = $$$
4
u/Switchmisty9 1h ago
No, he definitely doesnāt. He has never once had to fill out health insurance paperwork. He has never stopped to consider what his deductible was. He has never done anything like that for himselfā¦.and I do not expect him to get it at all.

u/Standard-Contest-949 1h ago
Before midterms get ready for a tidal wave of bullshit and promises that he hasnāt kept already.

2 weeks from now, we'll give you 5k, Healthcare, social security reform, end the Iran war, etc. Yeah, plenty they can lie about

All those people behind him have to be paid actors
8
u/DragonDanzZ 1h ago
And they proppaly dont even get their payment right after the comedy show is over
3
u/RoomExciting1296 1h ago
It would be fascinating to see the data of how many of those people seen behind him in tv appearances are payed actors and how many of them have gotten stiffed.
Pedophile in chief had a track record of not paying people for work they have done for him.

He will do jack and shit. He's had a decade in power or at least in control of the Republican party and they've come up with nothing.
1
u/Existing-One-8980 9m ago
He has the house, the senate and the Supreme Court, and he won't do a damn thing to help people. Why did these idiots elect a raging narcissist? Ugh. I hate this timeline.

Do Americans love being lied to and being abused, or what on earth is going on in there?

u/2Blueify 1h ago
He does but he also doesn't. Doesn't have 2/3rds majority to actually get things done.
5
u/jhamels 1h ago
Good thing in Congress he only needs a simple majority which is exactly what the Republicans have had for two years. But trust me bro give the republicans two more years then Trump will finally start fixing things instead of raising the price of literally everything.
-3
u/2Blueify 1h ago
No. He needs 2/3rds. Especially for a healthcare bill.
4
u/jhamels 1h ago
Thatās not how Congress works when it comes to bills, even bills relating to healthcare. Youāre thinking of Amendments to the constitution. Stay in school man.
1
u/Schwarz_Is_With_You 21m ago
Jhamels is right. Three orange menace can pass any bill he wants right now, as no republican will go against him. Amendments require 2/3 to pass in house and senate, and also to be ratified by 38 states. These are right to assemble (against the government), etc and we only have 27 of them in 250 years. And 2 of them were about prohibition, so 25, one every decade, on average. It's sad, it wasn't meant to be that difficult to change the constitution, afterall, we have changed so much in that time. There were no roads, indoor plumbing, HVAC, internet, you know, things that now are seen as necessities. Do I think government should control all of our everyday lives, no. But with natural monopolies like gas/electric/cable, they should. And if they aren't, the people at the top of those companies should be liable for prosecution if neglect is found to be the cause of any disasters. Real consequences for these ceos
2
u/Violet-Sumire 33m ago
He could enact a healthcare plan right this moment, just like Obama did. If we wanted to strengthen and protect the healthcare plan then we could amend the constitution. Amending the constitution would make it incredibly hard to dismantle it.
Trump had two years to do anything positive. Him saying this now is a clear sign of a grift. He could totally do it, he just doesnāt.
6
u/AnytimeSunshine 1h ago
Do people exist that are insane enough to believe anything he says anymore? I would be so ashamed to have this putrid human being my representative. I have met Americans, you have pride..... Does he make you proud?
3
u/Schwarz_Is_With_You 39m ago
No. He is perhaps the dumbest (with a b), most vile person. He lies constantly, you can tell when he's lying because he's talking. And he has no plans, he's doing whatever Putun and Netanyahu say, sanctioning the icc? I never voted for him, or any republican for president ever. The party just rolls over for big business.
Since 2012/2014, I've been saying the biggest issue with American politics is citizens united, because corporations aren't people. They have different interests, they shouldn't interfere with politics. But alas, the right leaning supreme court ratified it, making it more difficult to get rid of. So we're petty much cooked here, wife is working on a degree to be more beneficial if we have to move abroad.
But definitely not proud, even Biden was a problem, but that's cognitive decline (which the orange menace has even worse). I still can't believe it's only been not even 2 years, feels like 5-6.

u/Existing-One-8980 12m ago
Remember when one of his bimbos handed Leslie Stahl on 60 Minutes a giant binder that was supposed to be the healthcare plan, but it turned out to be a big fat nothing? Peppridge Farm remembers.
5
u/userousnameous 59m ago
Do you think the rubes have finally understood that when he makes a statement, there is literally nothing behind it -- just the words at that moment -- no work, no analysis, no figuring it out.. just literally testing a sentence for applause?
5
u/butwhywedothis 52m ago
I heard Trump can just put his hand on peopleās body and it can cure them from any illness. Usually cult leaders have that kind of power. The way things are going in America, maybe in future people can buy Trump Healthcare subscription and stand in line in front of Mar-a-Lago to be touched by Trump.

Okay. Do it before the election. Republicans control all 3 required bodies. Democrats won't vote against that.
If Republicans were amenable to such a plan, one would have passed in 1993.

Classic populism.
Just say whatever ppl want to hear. If ppl ask about it later, claim the enemies have been stopping you from fulfilling the promise made.Ā Press all the buttons at once.
Works like a charm.

u/Aware-Explanation879 33m ago
Okay, that is any easy phrase to say but I want to hear the plan. How exactly will we get access to healthcare? I can see tRump having us just pay per treatment like we are ordering from McDonalds or tRump makes another "tRump card" for medicine.

If the big insurance companies own the Democrats, shouldnāt republicans be going all Luigi on their asses or havenāt they been given any specific instructions yet?

If he was smart and had no scruples he would start Trump-surance. It will offer the lowest* rates for the greatest** coverage ever, just sign up and if you get a life threatening condition you wont have to worry about it eventually. Oh, and we know he has no scruples
*lowest being incredibly high compared to other companies
**meaning everything gets denied

Heās been saying this since 2015 on his first campaign. And those drug prices were coming down 1500% maybe this time he means it.

So this is the healthcare plan that heās been talking about since taking office the first time? Itās taken him 10+ years to come up with this???? Unbelievable!

Is this a replay of his 2016 Presidential Campaign. It's been over 10 years without out one plan actually put forward.

Im Aussie, so curious.. if he pulled it off and gave Americans an awesome healthcare plan, how would it be received?
