This is actually news worthy. You don't even have to be partisan, just compare responses to his posts immediately before and after the bot farm and let people think about it.
I also try to maintain a bit of hope that we snap out of this bullshit loop we're in. But to do that, eventually, we're all going to have to figure out how to talk with each other like adults (even the people we disagree with). And at this point, I'm not sure how or when that happens.... 😔
My hope fades as I feel like engaging in information warfare should be treated no different than physical warfare for both internal and external actors. I worry not just about current shenanigans but the reaction once the wool is removed from enough eyes and consequences begin to take form or even worse don't.
I don't think that comment is trying to "both sides" anything. They're just pointing out that biases are inherent. I'm highly biased against ignorance and hypocrisy, which makes me a partisan.
A partisan a strong supporter of a particular person, group, party, or cause. To believe strongly in freedom does, by definition, make you a partisan. It isn't synonymous with "Republican."
It sometimes has a negative connotation to denote someone who is blindly and unreasonably faithful to their cause, but not always. I think that's where the disconnect in this conversation lies.
That's not how it's typically used in the context of American politics. But that is very much what the word actually means. We have all sorts of bad actors who treat politics like sports, so it's tossed around with a negative connotation most commonly. But it can have a neutral connotation, simply denoting someone who belongs to a party/movement, or a positive connotation, describing someone who believes strongly in something that is morally just.
