You act like theyâre being used, they would gladly trade every economic policy, every freedom, anything you can imagine to have slavery back, itâs the only thing that matters to them, knowing they are superior to someone.

The ethnic supremacist would happily hurt all of us, including themselves, if it means hurting the target of their hatred, if it means retaliating against their lessers getting uppity.
This is a large part of why we don't have, for example, a public healthcare system. Going back a hundred years, the concern was that it would be forced to treat white people alongside black people, at the same standard of care, in the same facilities. They would rather die of diptheria.

Republicans think liberals are ontologically evil, like biblically evil, as in they think they're voting against Satan.
They think liberals are letting tens of millions of blood thirsty murderers cross our borders, they think liberals are letting schools perform gender reassignment surgeries on indoctrinated children, they think liberals are baby killers, they think liberals hate America and hate our troops, they think liberals hate Christianity and Jesus Christ, they think liberals are atheists, and socialists, and communists, and Marxists, they think liberals are out to destroy America and everything that "real American" conservatives like them love and hold dear.
They believe these things, truly and sincerely, and that's why they'd rather pay $50/gallon for gasoline than vote for a Democrat.
Edit: Case in point...
Here's Donald Trump (R) describing Democrats as "human-garbage."
Here's Donald Trump (R) calling Democrats "the enemies from within."
Here's Donald Trump (R) saying Democrats are the party of âHate, Evil and Satan.â

They have been manipulated over decades to see their neighbor as an enemy.
We, on the left and in the center, take for granted the kind of messaging these folks are exposed to, but Fox News and right-wing media is 24/7 horror porn, custom designed to make their viewers angry and afraid.
Then these same people go to their evangelical church on Sunday and hear a sermon about hellfire and damnation, about how god is going to punish America for abortion, and gay marriage, and transgender rights, and it's just more horror porn, more fear and anger.
Right-wingers consume propaganda, absolutely terrifying propaganda, in a way that the rest of us just can't relate to, we're blind to it, we don't look for it, we don't look at it, we don't really understand it.

It originally started with reasoned logic a long time ago, but over time it's been replaced with dogmatic thinking (or lack thereof). They got so wrapped up in deciding that they were right, and Democrats/etc were "wrong", and not only wrong but evil, thanks to repeated reinforcement from Right Wing media, online echo chambers, and IRL friend groups and so on, that they stopped caring about making any of it make logical sense, to the point that now it's tautological and cultish. They know they're right, everyone else who disagrees is wrong, and they will jump through all kinds of ridiculous mental hoops in order to justify it rather than admit that THEY might be the ones that are wrong.

3
u/Legman688 18d ago
You have to understand that these people are told, endlessly, for up to 14 hours a day, every. single. day., that Democrats are Satan. That they are communists, that they are chopping off children's genitals, that they want open borders and to replace everyone with illegal immigrants, they want to force everyone to be vegan. The problem, the obstacle to having any kind of positive change or progressive policies in the United States isn't the G.O.P. any more. Hasn't been for years. The obstacle is the right-wing propaganda bubble. And what passes for the left remains wilfully oblivious to this fact, never mind has any kind of plan to counter it. As long as Fox News, OANN, Newsmax, whatever, are allowed to continue to spew bald-faced lies about everything under the sun 24 hours a day, and spread every kind of bigotry there is, it doesn't really matter what Democrats do or don't do if they actually manage to get power anywhere.

Remember, folks: right-wing ideology has never and cannot produce functional societies. Right-wing governments have a 100% historical track record of driving their countries into the ground. Right-wingers do not have a meaningful body of artistic, scientific or cultural work. Right-wingers know this - they are fully aware that the ideology they follow cannot create, only destroy. They follow it because it destroys.

This is actually common.
Both not understanding why they won't change their view and the reasoning why they won't change their view.
There is an old story from ancient times about a tribe who said the world would end. When it didn't they just said they prayed so hard that they actually saved the world.
People will often fabricate a new story to fit their past narratives!
Most people will not study logical fallacies and critical thinking errors so that's why it's common for people to not understand this phenomenon in the first place.
Delusions are cognitive and hallucinations are sensory. Which are they suffering from? đ€ đ
