If it happens, should be shorter.

Eighteen is so every presidential term would get two appointments in a nine justice court.

That requires that you institute staggered terms. Which isnt in the the 18yr proposal.

Sounds like this is a bit of an unserious proposal then. I mean, we already have staggered elections in the Senate for this reason, why would this have been missed

That's kind of what I mean

They propose this, some constituents think it's great at face value, but the entire time it was just an unserious proposal to bait the masses

It is included in the proposal

The proposal is short and manages to touch on basically all the extremely obvious problems redditors are bringing up.

Edit:That's a link to an old version of the proposal, but as far as I can find in any article discussing the proposal it's the same. I think it's just being reintroduced for political reasons.

Apologies I presumed it was.

Same. Every time I've heard it talked about, this is the logic.

They have lifetime terms until the new appointees. It’s not like they’re going to disclose how those terms are ending.

It makes way more sense that every term gets 1 appointment, and the longest serving member has to go.

There are proposals for something like that. Every two years the President gets to nominate a new justice, regardless of any retirements. The size of the court would not be fixed.

Yes it is

Maybe instead of assuming that laws are written by people who don't think about them at all you could try knowing what you're talking about.
