My bad hearing almost cost me my friendship and caused strife between a husband and wife

For some context, my buddy that I had made friends with back in 2014 in Iowa, who was now living outside of Orlando, Florida, had invited me to crash at his place for a weekend to attend a Red bull BC One event. Where breakdancers compete to qualify for the natty rounds.

This was back in 2022. I said 'absolutely, I'd be down.'

I would be flying out from CID in Iowa and into MCO in Orlando the Friday before the event. All I needed was a ride and my buddy said that his wife would be able to pick me up, as he was going to be working in his home office at the time I were to land.

I said that that'd be okay and I'll be looking out for her vehicle.

I arrive in MCO, communicating with him that I was ready for pick-up and he told me to look out for her car outside the terminal.

I spot her, get inside and we roll.

She asked me how the flight went, how I was, how it was back home in Iowa. I said everything went well, yadda yadda.

About 20 minutes into the drive, we were on the topic of the traffic in the city.

This is where my bad ear intrepets things wrong..

As we were slowing down in traffic(it was 11 in the morning at this point) I had understood this from her dictation,

—

It's not even Russian

...

The convo up to this point went smoothly, with no awkward breaks or anything.

...

I took about 3 to 4 seconds to try to comprehend and reply to her statement.

...What happened?

I responded.

She repeated, "It's not even rush hour!"

"Ohhhh ha, I thought you said it wasn't even Russian."

We both laugh out loud at my misinterpretation.

Anyway, we get to the house and my buddy was still in a meeting and would be out in 20 minutes to greet me.

We finally see each other for the first time, after his call, since my last visit to their house back in 2019.

We catch up, come up with some ideas for the night. He wanted to host by making moscow mules. With the copper mugs and their homegrown mint leaves out in the garden. Never have tried that drink, but I was in their home and wanted to try whatever they had to offer!

As we were in the kitchen, with our drinks in hand, my friend's wife decided to just blurt out....

It's not even Russian

I looked at her for a sec, took me about 2 seconds register what she meant by that, then I said out loud–

Oh yeah, haha

Husband looks at the both of us, baffled–

??

She then says,

Oh, its an inside joke

I look back at my homie and all I see is him taking a sip from the copper mug, squinting his eyes at the both of us....

When I say things got awkward..man..lemme tell ya.

I didn't even wanna say anymore at that point. I didn't want to be like, 'Nothing happened between us' or anything..but I definitely felt that shift in energy in him.

Like SHE JUST picked me up a few hours ago and she's bringing up our inside joke in front of her husband just outta the blue.

Not too sure what happened in the bedroom between them that night, but he was adamant on taking me back to the airport after the event was over....

Knocked a cigar out of someone hand at a wedding

I was at a wedding on Saturday and knocked this guy’s cigar out of his hand while we were talking … I definitely had a couple drinks but unfortunately I have to blame my inability to talk without using my hands … he went and hung with his boys after that instead of staying in the small group we were talking in which could be a coincidence but I am mortified nonetheless (not bc I wanted to keep talking to him but just bc of my clumsiness)

I’m just trying to forget about it bc I know it’s really not that deep 😭💀

A humbling moment today

Took some business cards out with me today, only to use one to entice a spider out of the nooks in our car. Amazing business opportunities happening here, I'm sure the spider will leave a review.

The extent of my athletic prowess

The other day I took my puppy for a walk. I’m always eager for new situations to socialize her with other people and dogs, so when I noticed someone out in their fenced yard with their dogs I asked if we could approach and introduce her. The owner agreed, so we walked over to meet the dogs.

One of the two border collies was ball obsessed. I picked up a squishy, spiky plastic ball to throw for her. I threw it and it immediately hit the post holding the roof up and rebounded directly into my face.

Then, as an added bonus my puppy tangled up in my legs and tripped me

Is this getting out of hand?

Yesterday I was having Chinese food for lunch with my coworker, and we both got fortune cookies with our meals. The food was amazing, but when we opened the cookies, there were ads inside. Like seriously? I’m just trying to enjoy lunch and read a random fortune. Do we really need ads in fortune cookies too?

My Grandma’s Home Crew

My late grandmother went to a one-room school house. She started first grade as the only girl in the first grade class. Her classmates were four boys.
Fast forward 85 years and she moved into a very nice assisted living center. Every night, she would go down to have dinner at her table with her friends— the exact same four boys she started school with. I think they all had a good time at their nightly class reunion.

I started writing a trashy confession and accidentally remembered the happiest days of my life

I grew up upper-middle-class and always wanted a trailer trash girlfriend. When I was younger I was fascinated by the girls who lived in trailer parks. I grew up upper-middle-class, but some of my best childhood memories were hanging out with kids from the local trailer courts.

My first kiss was at 11, behind a trailer with a girl named Tay-Tay. I remember feeling like the luckiest kid alive. By 14 or 15, we'd spend summer evenings playing basketball at the trailer park while girls watched from the sidelines. Everyone knew everyone. We'd meet at the playground, ride bikes down by the river, and stay out until it got dark. A few of us had flip phones, but mostly we just found each other.

There was something about the freedom of it all. The parents seemed more relaxed, the kids were always outside, and every night felt like an adventure. The funny thing is I started writing this as some pathetic Reddit confession about my dating preferences, but halfway through I realized I was just remembering how beautiful those summers were.

I miss when life felt that big and summer nights felt endless.

My dog answers to "Homo" now.

My boyfriend and I have a bunch of pets. We're both fat, jolly, Slavic dudes so we call each other dumb shit. Some slurs that I don't need to name and we call the pets funny stuff too. Just for shits and giggles of course. We say those affectionately. We live in a cabin in the countryside so I walk the dog once or twice a day and we let him out into the yard a couple of times a day too. Before bed, my bf opens the door and says "come on, homo!" and the dog just immediately jumps and goes out. It's hilarious! His name is Haru and of course he answers to it , as well as to other things like "Fluffy", "my boy", "pupper" , "doggo" and many more. But "Homo" takes the cake. PS: Haru is a very smart dog. I've trained him very well, he knows dozens of commands and tricks and he also knows the names of all the cats, relatives and even some friends. So of course he knows all his own names too.

For fun, share about a time where you gave someone a taste of their own medicine (like the old sitcom trope). I’ll start:

I think it’s healthy to help people have an opportunity to be on the receiving end of their own behavior.

I have done it at least twice for rude disrespectful behavior. It was received in two different ways but worked well both times.

When I did it to a spousearound the year 2002, (he had stayed out til 4am when bars close at 1. So the next week I did it.). When I got home, he was standing there and instead of an argument , he unexpectedly hugged me and said, I get it. (He had been unable to sleep and worried about where I was and what could have happened to me.) Neither of us ever did it again.

Around 1999, when I was living with another teacher at age 23, my roommate who was extremely negative, even badmouthing when I watched Judge Judy while I got my stuff ready for my workout class everyday (we only had 3 channels back then 😅). I knew telling her to stop would fall on deaf ears, so a friend and I decided on a strategy where I would say the exact words she uses during her favorite show (Who wants to be a millionaire, lol) .

I did it and The roommate was shocked! She couldn’t handle that I was being negative! She asked why are you being like this? I carried on for awhile and then eventually revealed to her that I was using her Exact words to give her an idea of what she’s like to be around at home. She denied it vehemently, and stubbornly refused to admit that she behaved like that. I said, Well Ask T because it was she and I who hatched the plan together, and that’s why I specifically used exact verbiage that you used earlier today.

She never did it again. 😂

Year three of pining for a party I will never get to host.

Three years ago I had a great idea for a party. At least I thought it was great. Tea Party and Book Exchange. Everyone dresses pretty, bringing with them a book they love they wish they could share with others. We have sandwhiches, cookies, tea, everything made from scratch (I love to bake) and a book themed trivia game. At the end we have a white elephant and everyone in the group goes home with a new book to read and bag of treats.

Except none of my friends really liked the idea when I pitched it to them.

Then I had to move away.

Now I don't really have any friends, let alone bookish ones that live in the state. I still lingered on the idea, trying to refine it, see how I could make it better. My husband told me (very gently) that it just probably wouldn't work out. So I permanently shelved the whole plan.

I think about it every october because I wanted to do it for my birthday. Instead of only me getting gifts, everyone could get something. Three years now and I can't even work up the motivation for a normal celebration either now.

Just needed to throw that into the ether. Maybe somebody else online can take my idea and run with it.

A walk with my dog

The outskirt heavy rain from Hurricane Isaias was hitting my city today. I figured the main city rail trail that runs along an abandoned railroad track would be free of people for a peaceful walk, and it was. I have a large dog who loves hitting up the dog park for some play time, so I figured we could get a good brisk mile in, play at the park, walk back, then settle into a nice relaxing rainy evening. The rain was coming down steadily the entire time, but we don’t mind getting soaked

As we got to the dog park, to my surprise, there was a large dog there. He looked to be a German shepherd mix with a friendly welcoming look on his face. My dog checked him out through the fence, and it seemed like a good match, so I went into the gate. Dog owners know to be wary of other dogs and their owners at the dog park, because some owners let their dogs in despite being unfriendly.

I made an error in judgement. The dog immediately tried to start a fight with my dog, as soon as my dog turned around to go in a different direction, over to where he normally pees. Fortunately, I was able to grab the harness quickly, and lead my pup out the gate with no bites occurring. After i grabbed the harness, the other dog came at me with a malicious “I’m gonna bite you now” look. A swift but firm NO did the trick tho, keeping me safe. Encounters like this are not my favorite experience at a public dog park. Dogs will be dogs though

We played in the adjacent small dog park for a couple minutes before the owner and his dog left. Then we played in the main one, tossing sticks and having fun as the rain steadily got stronger and stronger. After 15 minutes or so, we walked back. Played with a few random sticks on the way. And that was that, a good rainy walk with minimal people around. Outside of that uppity dog, it was a resounding success

hot water and cold water were reversed on the faucet inside the health food store's bathroom

Usually hot water is on the left, and cold water is on the right. The faucet was one that you lift a little, and then turn for your temperature choice. Unexpectedly, the hot water was on the right, and the cold water was on the left.

The faucet also had one of those little half red, half blue circles to show which direction is each temperature. It, along with my expectations, did not align with the reality of the water temperature.

I took a moment to test it a couple times, yes, backwards. I smiled, wondered how many other people have noticed this, that may have also been amused, that I will never know about or meet. Then I went along with my day. That is all.

The Cornell case triggered teenage memories I had long forgotten. There's no point to this story other than wanting to share my teenage experience with a fraternity

This is gonna be long and its not going in direction most of you might think it is. But I feel like if I can get it all out of my head, I'll be able to stop thinking about my adolescence - memories I had otherwise forgotten. I'm a 38 yo woman. The Cornell case gave me a series of flashbacks to my own experience with Greek life. I had long since forgotten about the men in this story. But it has my warmed my heart remembering them and I just want to share it. I had a rare experience that I was very lucky to have.

I had a rough home life. My older sister was always my protector. Until she turned 18 and went to college. I floundered without her. I was 15yo. Just bc she loved me and sought to protect me doesn't mean she made the best decisions. She was herself after all a teenager. She had me at ages 15, 16 up at her college campus every weekend partying with her. For her part, she had joined a sorority and was in the midst of her own party life phase. She had the best intentions. But obviously I didn't belong on a college campus at my age. One night, I found myself locked out of her dorm room. I had no idea where she was. I found myself at 15 wandering around a college campus very late at night by myself.

I passed a group of frat boys walking in the opposite direction. They stared at me curiously. "Yo...you miller's sister?" I said yes. The guy replied, "where is your sister?" I responded I didn't know. They began exclaiming and talking amongst themselves how fucked up it was I was out here alone and what to do with me and they couldn't just leave me. Finally, "Little Miller! you're coming with us!"

And they brought me back to their frat house. This was the age of AIM and cordless phones. After attempting and failing to contact my sister, I was sat in a bedroom with 4 other guys and two tvs - one for video games, one for sports. They were treating me like I was a stray puppy. I was permitted one beer per hour. And one drunken guy insisted I drink my bud light with a crazy straw "bc I was a child." It was all manner of inappropriate but simultaneously extremely sweet. Other guys returning to the house would walk in, ask who I was "don't talk to her, she's 15." Meanwhile I played video games with drunk and stoned frat boys. The topic turned to what to do with me if my sister remained MIA. They were very uneasy about my being there, aware of what my sister and I were not - I did not belong there. One of the dudes called his girlfriend who was in the same sorority as my sister. She came and got me, they put me in her room for the night while she went back to her boyfriends room.

My sister and I were later reunited. And my weekend visits continued.

Now, I didn't get alot of attention at home. Home life was tough. So now on my weekend visits, I went looking for these boys. I reveled in their attention and I would seek it out. I imagine these 19yo-20yo boys became very amused by this. Bc they would tolerate it to a point. I was their stray pet / surrogate little sister. I also think a few of them began practicing for fatherhood on me. One guy got shitfaced once and drunkenly yelled at me to "go to my room." I pointed out I did not have a room. They would let me tag after them, to a degree. They would let me drink, but not alot. During a houseparty raid, I hid in a closet with several of them. No one ever touched me. On another occasion, they explained to me I wasn't getting high when I smoked weed bc I wasn't inhaling. And demonstrated how to inhale. After about a year, the curiously asked me if I had a bf. I said no. They told me to never ever sleep with a guy on the first date. And they told me I needed to make guys work for it for when I started dating. My drunken older brothers / father figures.

It was all manner of inappropriate but there was an undeniable paternal element to it.

I thought about them often with such affection in my later teens and early 20s. And gradually over time forgot about them. The Cornell 7 case brought them back to mind. Whether you believe Jane doe or not - sexual assault on college campuses is a rampant problem. We all know this.

It's never been lost on me on hpw lucky I was to be adopted by this group of frat boys who owed me nothing and still took it upon themselves to look after me and continued to look after me. I am incredibly grateful to those young men. I have no doubt that wherever they landed they are world class dads now. I got to keep my innocence and naivete for so much longer bc of them.

I'm not minimizing sexual assault on college campuses. It's a real problem. But I don't think it's harmful for people to share their experiences of young men being good men. I think those stories are important. Those boys easily could have just kept walking. And my night could have just as easily ended much differently.

I was around 14/15 in this story

I grew up in a small town of 150 people in the middle of nowhere Australia. No service, nearest town was 30 minutes away, and there was nothing but a communal post office made up of lettered pigeon holes, and a pub.

One day, my lil tomboy bumpkin brain had itself a brilliant idea.
I built a sketchy lil bunged up house on stilts, in and around a big tree, in the middle of bush, out of recycled materials I found that had been discarded by other residents of the town.
Am talking sketchy roof metal, rotten or damaged wood, a couple door and window frames, and some metal sheeting I pilfered from the old wheat silo that they’d turned into the donkey tower. (It was a donkey and a camel living there, but fuck the camel I guess)

So I tried to live in it. I actually do not know why my family allowed it to go on as long as it did.

Anyways, I’m thirty now. Survived

Edited for grammar.

I'm so embarrassed

Just now, at 9:20 am, I was going into my pharmacy. A woman started honking and pointing wildly. Then she rolled down her window, and said, "Ma'am, ma'am, your dress is tucked in on your back."

Yes, the bottom of my dress was tucked into my pink Grannie panties.

I went down my condo elevator with two other people and neither said a word.

I forgot what I was looking for halfway through looking for it.

I got up to look for something, walked into the next room, and completely forgot what I was looking for. I stood there for a few seconds hoping it would come back to me, then went back to what I was doing.

Of course, the moment I sat down, I remembered. Had to get up and go look for it all over again.

My brain really makes simple things difficult sometimes.

I spent way too long looking a scooter at the park

We were at the park near our house with my kid and somehow left their scooter there when we went home. I didnt even notice it was gone. The next day we went back and I saw a scooter sitting by one of the benches that looked exactly like my kid's. I remember thinking it was funny that another kid had the same one. We were about to leave when it finally hit me that nobody had touched it the whole time and we never brought ours home the day before. It was our scooter. It had just been sitting there since yesterday

At the grocery store. We (myself, alone and them, 2 guys, one black, one white) were both in the snacks aisle.

These guys just looked like nerds. 100%.

You know you can just sense the overclocking on someone? They were both radiating dweeb.

Now I am stuck in a small shitty town and I am very lonely so I was like ARE THESE FRIENDS?

So I asked them if they play Dungeons and Dragons.

They do not.

Boooooooooo.

The most interesting bus ride I think I’ll ever have.

Once I was on the bus from the gym to the town centre. An older man sat on the bus next to me and I had my AirPods in. He said something to me and I apologised and said that I couldn’t hear him due to my music. He was asking me what AirPods were and he said was confused because he kept seeing these little sticks in everyone’s ears.

That was my introduction to him, and on that bus ride we chatted. He spoke broken English but he told me about how he was originally from Jordan, and that he had met his British wife whilst she had been backpacking the region where he was from. He said they fell in love very young, and she brought him back here to the UK to get married. He told me “I never married her so I could move countries, I married her because I loved her and I wanted to go wherever she was going”.

His wife’s family never accepted him despite his best efforts. He said he tried baking them things and offering to do household jobs for them, but they always refused anything beyond the most basic of interactions.

Anyway, he said now that it was 50 or so years later, and his wife was now in hospital. He said the reason he was on the bus is because he was going from the hospital to his home. He visits her every other day by getting the bus and bringing her food. The conversation strikes me as interesting because there was so much contrast between our lives. I wasn’t even done with sixth form at the time, and this man must have been in his 70s.

He was really kind. I asked him where he lived and he said not far from the bus station. I offered to walk him home as I had some time to spare- Turns out he lived on the apartment above the cities busiest night club. It was also a Saturday night so it was heaving outside his front door. It was a bit of a weird place to say goodbye, but he said if I was ever near and wanted to pop in for a cup of tea I was always welcome.

I still think about that man. I hope him and his wife are doing okay. It’s been about a year since then.

I keep losing my glasses in the same apartment

I don’t actually lose them, I alwayss find them. I just put them down somewhere and then the next morning I’m like okay, where did I put those. Usually they end up on the kitchen counter or somewhere in the couch. Then I’m walking around squinting at everything trying to find them which obviously makes no sense because I can barely see anything without them.

I was already gonna get new prescription glasses anyway, so I started looking online.. and to my surprise onlline stores have wayy more frames than I expected and they were like $25-ish, so I thought why not get a few instead of just one.

Now I have a pair by my bed, one at my desk, one in my bag and one in the car. And do I still lose the pair I’m actually wearing? Yeah lol. But at least there’s usually another pair somewhere nearby now. Kinda stupid but honestly it’s been workingg.

Does anyone else have to keep multiples of something because they are constantly losing it?

The sermon

So growing up in Christian fundamentalism it was common to let the “men of the church” preach “what god had placed on their hearts.” Every evening service was one of these lessons.

A weirdly progressive lesson about lust was preached. The basic principle was that lust is the fault/problem of the person lusting. Not bad, right?

He gets some “amens” and it goes to his head. He’s red and sweaty and yelling to get more amens.

PLUCK OUT YOUR OWN EYE!

AMEN!

ONLY YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR ACTIONS!

AMEN!

As the church is worked into this frenzy, he spits out “IF YOU EVER LUST AFTER *MY* WIFE, YOU HAVE SERIOUS PROBLEMS!”

"How's the food?" "Terrible."

so my great grandma (93f) is a shockingly spry woman who won't take vaccines, won't take medicine, walks around everywhere she can, and is an extremely high-level board/card game player at her retirement home. she is a very sharp person, very opinionated, and extremely blunt. if there is something on her mind, she will say it. it's actually only in the last few years that she's admitted that she's trying to be nicer to people. for example, if she's invited to a party she will tell the host if the decorations are tacky or not. she's also unfortunately known to call wait staff idiots, and not quietly.not to call her a bad person at all; she's really wonderful, she's just honest to a fault.

from what i heard from my grandpa (her son in law) recently, she's been kind of in the phase of "i wish the grandkids would call more," so i waited a week or so after hearing that so it'd catch her off guard, and my husband and i (both 30m) picked her up from the retirement home and took her to one of my favorite diners.

it's a really small location, very quiet, only open in the mornings. it was rebranded after about 3 decades a handful of years ago, still owned by the same family but in a much better condition than it used to be lol. (fun fact, this very same great grandma actually considered buying this very same diner over 3 decades ago, but the kitchen was in such a state of disrepair that she just couldn't justify it and wouldn't go to the original location i grew up going to lmaoooo. apparently it's brand new now though, and my husband and i love going there when the urge for a classic diner coffee strikes.)

so we get there, we sit down, we chat, everything's wonderful. my husband gets his usual biscuits and gravy, and grandma gets strawberry waffles. i'm stuck between a bunch of things and panic and get blueberry waffles and some sausage and eggs.

immediately upon the foods arrival i am delighted. smothered in compote and whipped cream, thickest most massive waffle you've ever seen. i actually haven't had one of these from here yet.

first thing out of grandma's mouth is "oh well now that's just too much sauce," before the waitress has fully left the table, but she doesn't come back yet. not sure if she heard the impending difficulty.

i proceed to scarf mine down, husband eats at a normal person pace, and grandma takes one bite.

"oh that's so doughy. is yours doughy? waffles are supposed to be crispy."

i sorta stop a third of the way through mine and analyze it and go "i guess it's a little soft," because i'm an agreeable sort of person. but honestly. it's an above average waffle.

a minute later or so the waitress comes back over with the friendly "hey how's it going? how's the food?"

and grandma looks up at her and says "terrible."

and at this point i've got a napkin over my mouth because according to my husband i eat like a toddler, and i've got blueberry everywhere. my eyes go huge and i look up at the waitress, who looks at me with a similar expression. i try to say I'm So Sorry without saying it out loud. the waitress takes my grandma's concern extremely seriously and immediately takes the plate away with a promise that they'll fix it. grandma says "and don't put so much sauce on it" as she's walking away. (i notice that she didn't hear that so a few seconds later i slip away and mention it to the waitress behind grandma's back and thank her profusely)

so, second waffle comes out, i've been done with mine for a few minutes and husband is mostly through his biscuits and gravy. you can actually see how crispy it is with the half amount of sauce, it's picture-perfect gorgeous. husband and i are hyping it up "oh that looks so much better" fork goes into the waffle, you can hear it. excellent.

grandma takes a bite.

"no. no, no, no." and she just sighs and shakes her head. "how hard is a waffle. i'm not going to pay for this."

i'm absolutely mortified. grandma, to her credit, does eat a few more bites, but cuts the whole thing in half and tells me to slide my plate over, which i do, and she gives me half and i happily begin to garbage-disposal the genuinely perfect waffle, but my heart is sinking because the waitress is walking back over.

"how's this one?"

grandma just shakes her head. "it's just not good."

i am doing frantic damage control trying to keep it light and telling the waitress "sorry, ithinkit'sreallygood, her standards for crispy are like, up here," and everything. the waitress goes "oh, i'm sorry, if you want it crispy i can have them do it again-"

and my grandma looks at her like :/ and goes "forget it."

i am apologizing to the waitress with my eyes as hard as i possibly can. waitress leaves, husband is done with his biscuits and gravy and excuses himself to the restroom. i can see him 10 feet away paying so i keep her busy trying to keep things as not-disappointing as possible because now i feel bad for bringing her here.

husband comes back, grandma leaves most of her unfinished waffle while i have now eaten 1.5 of them and i don't know if i can move. a little more chatting, and then grandma starts pulling out her purse and saying "let me get this one for you," but my husband interrupts and i know he's getting a dopamine hit off it when he tells her he already covered it. (he got a promotion recently and people are always buying for us lmaooo we wanna do it back sometimes)

((i also didn't ask until she was back at the retirement home but he did leave a pretty fat tip and even did mention to the staff that we both really appreciated it and everything was wonderful.))

so, despite the whole waffle incident, grandma seemed to have a pretty good time. she was really happy to see us and we took her to the grocery store afterwards so she could pick up some new crossword books. she also slipped me a 20 later, so all is well. to anyone out there who maybe hasn't called their grandma in a while ;P just go say hi real quick, even if there's a chance things might get a little stressful or awkward for a minute, it'll mean a lot.

A German Shepherd puppy brights up my morning everyday before work

Every morning my work mates pick me up for work at the same spot. I usually get there a few minutes before them so I usually just waited there for them to appear but one morning, a month ago, this guy who looks like he recently retired shows up with these nice German Shepherd puppy who instantly started pushing towards me so they approached and I started petting the puppy. Now, as soon as they show up around the corner, this guy unleash the puppy and he runs straight to me to get his morning pets. The simple fact of seeing these puppy so happy to see me and to be able to play with him just for a minute makes me face the day with a different, better mood as I did before.

These past week I missed a day of work due to a medical appointment and the next day the owner was telling me how confused and sad the puppy was because I wasn't there.

By the way, I know the puppy's name but not the owner's lol

Gave kitkat to a kiddo

This happened over a year back. I went to the post office send cards to my parents and a friend. Bunch of locals were there for routine work, they were from all walk office and more working class than me perhaps. There was one baby.

While waiting in the queue the baby wailed progressively louder. The mom started walking around with it. Older persons tried to advise from their seats. I tried to stay aloof because i am by nature socially anxious and awkward.

But then i looked in my bag anyway. It has all kinds of things. I asked the mom in front of me if the baby eats chocolates. She saw the kit kat in my hand and took it slowly, still muttering to the baby. But baby was locked in. 100% concentration silent and trying to unwrap the kit kat asap. I don't know when it finished the kitkat but I feel its effect was 'ignore all past commands have a kitkat'.

Needless to say nestled is an evil company and kit kat particularly in my country is very unhealthy. But the incident was kinda nice. The old lady behind me was among the people amused at the baby suddenly and completely being bribed by two sticks of kitkat. She told me about the people who came there and for what all purposes the office was used.

End of story.

Having social anxiety sucks but sometimes my weird props are funny enough to get a few kind words. I think here i appeared stoic also, but old people kinda don't care lol they will talk once they've started. So I think that was nice
