Discussion Is There More to Do After 20 Hours?

• Upvotes

Hi, I’d like to give this game a try. But is it true that the game only lasts around 20 hours? Is there really nothing left to do after that?

Are there any players here who have spent significantly more time in the game in a single playthrough, without New Game Plus? If so, what did you spend your time doing?

Discussion I’m having so much of a blasț!

• Upvotes

here is my honest opinion and feedback , I really enjoyed slicing up all the enemies through the levels. However I can see why many say this game is a big disappointment.

Regardless it’s still a 10/10 and I’m still having a blasț!
I can’t wait to get back to slicing ninjas!

Discussion Wolverine game review (spoilers) Spoiler

I just finished Wolverine, and tbh, it’s overhated. Yeah, it’s still not better than the Spider-Man games for me, but it’s still a solid game. I’d give it around a 7.5 to 8 out of 10.

One thing I wasn’t a big fan of was the reuse of maps. I didn’t mind that the game was linear instead of open-world, but it kept going back and forth to the same places. I think it would’ve been more interesting if the events took place in new areas, especially in New York, where we could’ve gotten a Spider-Man Easter egg.

Also, this is just my personal opinion, but I hated the Logan and Jean romance. I’m really tired of that trope being pushed. It would’ve also been nice if the claws were more unique.

Besides that, I thought the combat was great, and the side missions were pretty good too. I don’t really understand why some people thoughts the game was spoon-feeding us. Maybe it’s because I played on the highest difficulty, but some battles actually took me a while to complete, especially the final boss.

Overall, the game is pretty solid, and I’d definitely recommend it.

Discussion I just finished the game and i think the hate is kinda dumb. Theres definitely stuff that isnt great in the game like combat, some bits of dialogue mainly from sabertooth, constant cutscenes, bad boss fights, and a couple other things.

Is it as good as the Spider-Man games? No but it’s a decent game for sure. Everyone was so upset about the fart trail but it really isn’t that bad. It makes sense for his power but some stuff is kinda just put there to make the game seem longer.

  1. There should be more costumes. The whole materials thing is fine but in a-lot of major cases it doesn’t let you change your outfit which really blows. I wish there were more costumes too. Only a handful of them are very unique the rest are all kinda too similar. I would’ve liked to see more original designs too. I used mainly the brown suit but it’s just a little disappointing to not see that many suits.

  2. His run really bothers me. He looks so silly when he runs it’s not a terrible run but it doesn’t look like he’s running. Especially when it’s in moments like you need to get there fast and he runs like he’s a toddler. The only real running seen was with spark.

  3. I think some things were great like the look of the costumes were amazing, the blood and metal bones and actor for wolverine were good too, sabertooth looked awesome and so did Essex. I think Essex was the best character by far they did such a great job casting him and he was the one character imo that was really well written.

  4. Some actors/actresses weren’t the greatest picks and some dialogue was just really cringe. Sabertooth’s dialogue was just really bad, and i think raven and jean weren’t good in terms of looks. Not that they were ugly but jean looked kinda old. She looked like she was 40 and raven idk she didn’t look right either. Almost everyone else looked great like Walter, leech, and all the enemies except the girl with the long nails her face was weird looking. Shiro looked great too.

  5. Combat was pretty bad along with the cabin trials. The whole trials thing was kinda dumb. The survive waves of enemies got boring very very fast. To get 40000 points was just kinda a boring chore. The special techniques were ok but like there was only a handful of them. You only really unlock some interesting stuff towards the end but even then it’s not alot. There is not alot of techniques that change combat. I just got really bored of the combat. The hand section of the game probably was my favorite because at least it had alot of different enemies but just the constant waves of dudes was boring after the fifth time in a row. The worst combat was at the end near master mold were there just a ton of mark 2 sentinels which are so boring to fight. They look great but holy bro i couldn’t not stand the constant waves of the same shit.

  6. Bosses were pretty bad especially Essex it felt very underwhelming compared to nail lady or sabertooth. There wasn’t alot of boss fights either.

  7. The story was not as bad as people claimed it was but it was very obvious they added stuff in to try to make a story line for the next x men game they are gonna make. I think Essex story line was good but everything else was kinda bad except apocalypse.

Overall it was a solid 6/10 game. I did enjoy it and i do love wolverine i just think they could’ve done better in all honesty. I also wish they let us try jean. As in play as her. In the spiderman games they make you play as mj even tho SHE HAS NO POWERS. But jeans powers are really awesome. I think if they at least had more animations for finishing moves and other combat stuff the game woulda been better.

Discussion I loved it!

Not saying it’s a 10/10, but I really enjoyed it. I played on the hardest difficulty on the 1st playthrough and found it challenging enough to not be frustrating. A lot of combat is parry/strike/drop a special, so not as deep as a FromSoft by any means, but still a good time. There were a few glitches with the final boss fight where they got “stuck” and wouldn’t move and a few other times where I had to restart from a recent save due to getting caught on something invisible but overall had a ton of fun playing. I am not a reader of the comics, so I don’t have an opinion with any lore, I just like games. I didn’t have an issue with having spent $70 on it but would recommend giving it a chance if you’re interested once it goes on sale.

Discussion This game is great I don’t get the hate? It’s for actual adults

The length wasn’t too long with me working and such I find it not too long to where it be comes a chore
The combat is a lot of fun people say it’s repetitive it’s essentially Spider-Mans combat but with wolverine
Yea the story can be a little too much like a cw tv drama
But it’s a compelling narrative
I hope the make some dlc for this with new characters

Tried to stay away from the reviews before playing, seen one or two being critical of it. In my opinion I enjoyed it very much, a fun game with a good story.

I’m not sure why bl@st wasn’t allowed in the title, but I don’t understand all the hate. I loved seeing how Logan and sabertooths yearning for each other developed in the story. 10/10 game.

Discussion Game was developed like a show, not as a game.

Ok, I have finished the game on the difficulty Weapon and the story was quite enjoyable.
But I noticed throughout the gameplay that it was written strangely and gave me a strange feeling compared to other linear games.
The thing is that linear games usually still have more than enough content that make them viable to play. But I never felt like that in the game. Even during the best moments and I noticed now why.
All the great cool stuff is in the cutscenes. Like the Wolverine Run which I am still angry about…
The whole game is basically like a TV show but you get to fight yourself during fight scenes.
But there is never enough to make the game feel satisfactory as a game itself.
I mean the playable moments are usually so much the same outside of fights that you basically have nothing to do.
I mean the only moments I ever truly enjoyed myself were the boss battles and I also hated them because of how much interesting dialogue it had I couldn’t notice because I had to stay alive.
All QuickTime events were basically just cutscenes which tried to make you believe it was gameplay.
And most characters were just so shallow that I never got to care enough about them besides Leech. Leech was basically the sole character I cared about because we were only ever shown him as a center of attention. Jean is the other main character of the game, but you find barely anything out about her. Tyger and Raven were likable at first but Raven then really destroyed her character by knowingly working with Essex unlike the rest of team X.
Then there was the whole Apocalypse and Phoenix aspect which seemed so much more interesting than the whole story together but seems to be mostly ignored.

So my consens is that Wolverine is a great show, but sucks as a game. Mostly because the game doesn’t give you enough to do. I mean even the old games that came after the movies had more gameplay and things to do for the player than here where your targets are:
Reach the Target
Fight
Destroy the few carts
Gather the alcohol
Do the nightmare doors

Any the nightmare doors were the worst. They just took you out during the middle of a mission and had you do a random challenge. And they could have easily made them interesting by really integrating them as part of the story where Logan Memory tries to remember and has you do a challenge that is in theme with the overall mission but works as a backslash/ memory for Logan that also gives him certain skills.

But what do you think?

Discussion Insomniac Marvel Future Games

Thumbnail
gallery
60 Upvotes

Ever since Insomniac revealed its Wolverine game, I’ve had serious doubts about whether this studio truly understands the characters it’s working with.

Wolverine doesn’t even feel like Wolverine from the comics or other media. He’s supposed to be a sarcastic, foul mouthed, short tempered lone wolf asshole with a heart of gold. Instead, he comes across as a generic nice guy who’s a team player and apologizes to people, lacking the attitude and personality that make Wolverine iconic.
The story also seems all over the place, with changes to established characters, their personalities, and their lore.

So, do you guys genuinely have faith in Insomniac to deliver future Marvel games featuring badass, gritty heroes like the Punisher, Daredevil, Ghost Rider, and Moon Knight? Especially telling darker stories.

If they can’t get Wolverine right, why should we trust them with characters who are even more violent, morally complicated, and uncompromising? I don’t want to see these characters watered down into generic, inoffensive superheroes who lack the brutality, edge, and personality that make them unique.
