A live round will have some variance in movement, he's also old and wobbly. Real bullet means it's too much variance trust for faking it. It would be easy to fake too. Fire a blank, have him tackled and someone doctor his ear, either a squib or preplaced bullet for the shot behind him and Bob's your uncle

Yeah, people don't realize how fucking hard it is to make a bullet only graze someone. Even the best military sharpshooters couldn't shoot a bullet to only narrowly hit the ear without blowing the entire thing or shooting the head.

I'm not convinced it was a genuine event, but I do feel confident saying there's no chance he'd be ok with an attempted grazing.

Also doesn’t help that the rifle used was a piece of garbage that’s about 3 MOA, so at the distance there was about a 4.5 inch radius that shot could have landed.

Much less timing it so that he moves his head just before impact. I doubt the rifle used had a low enough spread to guarantee that shot in anyone's hands.

It didn't graze him. The guy they hit was nowhere near him, he ducked down, applied stage blood, and got up for the photo op.
