Job description did not indicate to remove debris prior to painting

Not the painter’s job. True.

I'm a fuckin line painter not a street sweeper

You only do what the contract pays for. If the painting contract didn’t include sweeping the lot, then it should have been done before painters arrived. If it did include sweeping, then whoever is in charge of paying contractors needs to enforce it.

I paint lines. Do I look like a fucking broom operator?. If you check almost every other white line in your area, you will notice they stop before they intersect with the kerbline just like this. Nothing to see here.

Honestly our system is not set of for workers to do anything but their assigned task. You may get a better end product but you also to longer to do it. Bosses don't give a shit about quality of work as long as it's good enough to get paid. But they definitely care about the 10 mins it took to make the site clean. That they don't make profit off of. Your problem is not with the people doing these jobs is with our capitalist system that prioritizes profit over quality

I was joking. The two guys I actually know who do it, are both self employed / directors of their own companies and took great pride in their job, but whatever!

The contract said debris would be removed beforehand. Don't ever do work outside of your contract. Work requires pay. No contract, no pay. No pay, no work.

Some customers want it done as cheap as possible. You use the crappy paint and do 0 prep work. Consider yourself lucky that the lines are straight

Looking at the pic, the job was just a re-stripe so the chances of the lines painted over were straight are lower than you think lol

How fulfilling was it to reprise your role as Han in Fast Five after the mix reviews of Tokyo Drift? Fast Five is universally considered one of the best of the franchise, did you find the production of it more fun/endearing with the ensemble cast?

At my company we usually try to clear debris the best we can unless it’s dried mud or something that would require more than just a blower. At that point we just stop at the end of the visible line

you can always tell men work these jobs

4

u/Psych0matt Sep 12 '26

Why, because the line is pretty straight?

cause he didn’t bother to clean up the mess before doing it 😂

I don't see women lining up to do these jobs

cause it’s low grade physical labor. that’s males work

1

u/DefinableEel1 Sep 12 '26

Tbh line painting is bottom of the barrel with physical labor. The most you do are just hundreds of cheat toe touches. Down, up, down, up, etc.

That and the 5 gallon buckets of paint. Idk how much they actually weigh but it’s more than a standard 50lbs.

It’s really just a lot of fucked up geometry because the salesman/project manager never gets it right on the work order

exactly why males should be doing it
