Just make him a fullback like the 49ers after pat ricard leaves

I’ve been saying this I think it could be insane. Just need a better all round back to go behind him.

How long is Ricards contract for, 2 years? We should have time to find another complimentary back, especially if we can extend him another year

What's wrong with tracy, who averaged over 1000 all purpose yards each of the past 2 years, and 4.3 yards per carry?

He had a bad preseason and fumbled early. He just in the dog house rn but his special teams play might get him out of it

This. If you've noticed since that big return he had a few weeks back, Harbs has been giving him some burn on 3rd down. Not too many touches, but I think they will come as time goes on and coach gets more comfortable with him. He's the most explosive back we have.

Yes he's in the doghouse because of a few mistakes (although he ran extremely well in preseason). But Harbaugh himself said that Tracy would be evaluated by his entire body of work not a few recent mistakes. And then he immediately contradicted himself by banishing Tracy based on three mistakes after two very good seasons. Does he know anything about statistics and sample size? And Skattebo has fumbled four times, most in the NFL. Why hasn't he been banished?

Classic T formation with Ricard and another back with Likely and Nabers at the TE spots could be a lot of fun. Especially in the red zone/goal line.

A shame all the other backs on the roster are cheeks. It’s a major need this offseason.

Tyrone , tracy had over a thousand all purpose yards in each of his first two seasons. Why is everyone suddenly dismissing him as inadequate?

2

u/lasion2 12h ago

7 carries for 22 yards in 5 games. The coaching staff has deemed him inadequate.

2

u/PayMediocre785 11h ago

In the past 2 seasons, Tracy averaged 4.3 yards per carry and over 1000 yards all purpose. And you're saying that 7 carries this years makes him inadequate? Plus the coaches dropped him from the rotation after just one game.

Im aware of the stats. The coaches have deemed him inadequate, so he is. If he isn’t playable, in the coaches opinion, then he needs to be replaced. We don’t get to decide who gets the ball. The coaches do.

Trade him with Thibs in the next two weeks and let’s just move on.

OF COURSE it's the coaches' decision. But this is a forum where fans express their opinions. Is it possible that coaches could be wrong, because of stubbornness or blindness? Has that ever happened, in your experience? Or do you think coaches are infallible, like the pope?

Seriously, 3 RB set - Tracy with the ball behind Scat and Ricard would be awesome.

lol I was thinking this before I opened the comment section. Hes a stub pass blocker i like that he finishes instead of releasing them.

I have faith he will turn it around and secure the ball

There’s been an unusually high amount of punch outs this year. I see it almost every game I watch.

I’m not super worried about him, just needs to clean it up and press forward.

15

u/vg1220 13h ago

it’s like every defensive player just spent all off-season practicing the peanut punch, could see it all over the MNF game last night

6

u/Ineedamedic68 Malik Nabers 12h ago

James Cook just fumbled twice yesterday, losing one in a potentially game winning situation. He got away with it

4

u/Prideofmexico 12h ago

Yeah I’m not ready to sound the alarm bells on him yet. He’s not a bell cow but he’s a good 1B

38

u/Pyt-- 14h ago

like a littler angrier Ahmad Bradshaw

4

u/Ok_Shame_5382 13h ago

I think he has 2 inches and 20 lbs on Bradshaw. Iirc Bradshaw played at 205?

u/Guilty-Community2307 14h ago

might be the best blocking RB in the league.

-2

u/NoticeSignificant785 8h ago

And very nearly the worst running RB in the league.

23

u/HiTechnique 14h ago

Cam has the right vibe for the Giants.

17

u/bailaoban 14h ago

Fantastic. Just hold onto the ball better and we’re happy.

u/Waste_Protection_420 Reese Mode 13h ago

Cam is an absolute beast in so many ways.

His problem is he tries to hard and eventually puts himself in a compromised position where the defense can catch him tired and punch the ball out on him. He is the type of RB you gotta drag off the field bc he does not know when he needs a break.

Skat has it all except speed. He is also a great receiver.

And yes, putting him in 22 personnel with Tracy in the backfield and letting him block would probably be highly effective. Dude isn't elite at one thing, he is just very good at everything.

-4

u/NoticeSignificant785 8h ago

Let’s be honest, he hasn’t been good, even at the one thing he was supposed to be very good at. He is supposedly this punishing runner, but he averages just 2.78 yards after contact per attempt, 28th among NFL running backs. So he can put DBs on their back when blocking but doesn’t break tackles when running with the ball.

He is 43rd in the league in YPC.

And the fumbles…the FUMBLES!

He is not good and he needs to be benched.

u/Waste_Protection_420 Reese Mode 6h ago

Benched and replaced by who??? You offer up a problem but fail to present a solution.

Check out the stats on everyone else. No one looks good right now.

Skat is leading our team in yards per carry. You bug out about the fumbles, but he only lost one. Same number as Harris and Tracy.

We played 3 games in a row in rainstorms. Before that we had the Rams in a game our team was shell-shocked from losing Dart.

That is 4 games in a row of shitty, ugly, play that dont really represent what we have for the rest of the season. Also Winston was still being worked into the offense, so teams played up to stop the run.

Notice how Skat found running lanes later in the Washington game after Winston became a threat for them to worry about?

He lost one fumble in 3 rain games. I'm not sweating it. He struggled to gain yards in those three games, (and the rams game), because the defense played up due to the bad weather and a struggling QB still building chemistry with his team.

The one normal game Skat had was vs Dallas, and Skat had a fine game. 4.5 yards per carry, and he looked great.

Am I going to base my opinion just on that game? No. That would be stupid... just like basing my opinion of him on 3 rain games and 1 disaster game for everyone.

We got the Saints, @Houston, bye week, @Philly, and Washington coming up. Weather looks good and Winston is finally up to speed. Let's see what happens before writing anyone off.

... You were probably one of those guys calling for us to trade for a QB after Winston's first pass during the Rams game. Sometimes the answer is to deal with what you got and make do. We are 3-1-1 so we made do pretty good so far... we also have bigger issues to fix other than RB.

1

u/NoticeSignificant785 3h ago

We aren’t talking about 1 game coming in as a substitute to play the most complicated position in the game versus the pre-season favorites to win the Super Bowl. We are talking 5 games of bottom of the league production. Oh, and he only lost 1 of his fumbles, well damn son, that changes everything, he can come over fuck my sister.

15

u/DONOTSAYTHENWORD 14h ago

Jesus christ he hits so hard.

11

u/lasion2 14h ago

It’s funny, he looks slow with the ball in his hands but relatively explosive lining up blocks and in the passing game (which he should be used more in)

It’s probably residual from his injury, but he really needs to work on acceleration from the hand off.

14

u/Ted_Striker1 13h ago

That's because our line can't open holes for him, and that's at least partially because we lost a QB that's a mobile threat so defenses just stack the line.

7

u/rodrigo_i 13h ago

The opponents have been focusing on stopping the run and daring Jameis to throw the ball figuring he'll turn it over.

1

u/lordscottsworth 12h ago

Skattebo to play center?

4

u/FootballSavant 13h ago

Probably also related to the poor run blocking this season

3

u/stoicparallax 13h ago

This season .. and the 10 before it

11

u/LoquatThat6635 14h ago

What a dog! Snarlin’

4

u/perpetualmotionmachi 13h ago

He's giving lessons about low center of gravity

4

u/tcvm6 13h ago

Cool, now stop fumbling

2

u/LocalIndividual5945 In Harbaugh We Trust 13h ago

That low center of gravity and the power catch people off guard

2

u/PaceFabulous3433 12h ago

I get the feeling like he doesn’t consider it a successful block unless the defender is lying on his back.

1

u/science_nerd_dadof3 13h ago

Have that dude play MLB while we are at it.

1

u/DessertFlowerz 13h ago

Move Cam to Left Guard

u/Waste_Protection_420 Reese Mode 13h ago

0

u/Wooden-Celery9524 13h ago

When he get 100 yard rush game then we could take about he is the best RB on the team but damn !!!

1

u/Waste_Protection_420 Reese Mode 12h ago

We could have a conversation iabout who is the best RB on the team, but thia is just a video of Skat pancaking people.

No one even mentioned 100 yard rush game or best RB on the team. That could be a decent conversation, but dunno how you thought this video had anything to go with your thoughts.

Also still dunno about your "is that all he is good at" comment. Aside from pancakes, he is a reliable receiver out of the backfield (he was in college as well).

Skat's best trait is hitting the line and falling forwards for those extra yards. Dude is a fighter.

His worst trait is he only has so much high octane energy. He gives 110% every play. This means he runs out of energy quick, and needs to get pulled for a rest during drives... without that rest he is more likely to be caught out of position and fumble.

Skat is just a piece to the RB puzzle. I don't really see one better than the other, but they conplement each other nicely... I could argue full tank Skat might be the best at powering forward, but we only get half a drives worth outta him. Dude needs a breather. I live bis effort though. That is A+.
