Discussion Hey NFL Newsflash: We don’t give AF about NFL players wives.

It feels a little excessive tonight. Even just from the standpoint of letting them watch the game somewhat privately/ not have to be constantly on guard for the camera

Something tells me Ol' Kelly loves it

u/BBaddict2 2h ago
Yeah. She is eating that shit up. They’ve shown her more than Hailee Steinfeld, so it makes her feel as famous as Hailee

She's only a surgery or two away from Mar-a-Lago face. So young to start messing with her face.

Remember when she compared Michigan covid restrictions to Nazi Germany for internet clout?
Yeah she loves the attention

She is the worst. Can’t wait till he retires. She is old and a hag.

u/BBaddict2 1h ago
She might be doing to opposite Giselle to him, forcing him to stay in the league so she has relevance

It's unusual because it's in LA so Josh's wife is at the game. I don't think she usually attends.
6
u/peanutjamz 1h ago
She normally attends but prefers not to be shown. I think the Disney/Hexed promotion may have overruled her wishes on this one since it was an ABC broadcast
3
u/Exotic-Fuel-8420 1h ago
it’s because the bills are staying on the west coast for the week until their game on sunday

Why is this guy so mad?
96
u/No_Entertainer_5163 Kansas City Chiefs 2h ago
Because he chooses to care instead of not care but saying he doesn’t care, and therefore makes a post saying he doesn’t care but all it does is demonstrate how much he does care.

My wife immediately checks in when they show someone’s wife and then asks me all these questions about them and I tell her I have no clue.
So it’s definitely working for attracting different types of viewers than me and you….
21
u/Ok-Freedom-7432 2h ago
Is it? Will your wife turn this on if you don't already have it on? Will she sit through ads so she doesn't miss any of it?

u/Striking_Oven5978 1h ago
As a woman who got into football for pretty much this reason, yes. Eventually, you start leaning about/caring about the actual game, but this is totally how it started for me.
7 years later, I watch football religiously. And yes, I have Brittany Mahomes to thank for that.

I think theyre down voting out of embarassment because a woman admitted she now watches football because of Brittany Mahomes. It just feels very... cringe?

u/jmcdon00 1h ago
How did you know who Brittany Mahomes was?
6
u/Striking_Oven5978 1h ago
Because when I was watching with my boyfriend at the time (he was a big fan), PM2 was all the rage and they did a segment on him/her. I was looking her up on instagram, and she was around my age posting and posted shit I was into.
Now that I prefer football over the WAGs, I am no longer a Patrick Mahomes fan, but I’m just telling you that it CAN help women get into it.

Its the long game. Getting more and more women more and more ok with the games. The more they sit and watch the better chances of them being cool with not planning things when games are on and that will also rub off on the daughters. Not saying it will work but thats the marketing idea.

u/ncroofer 1h ago
Yup, little stuff like this has made my gf pay more attention over the years. She’s definitely gotten more into it and will ask me if I’m putting games on now. I used to get pushback and that’s pretty much gone

You don’t think more people looking at ads is a good thing? It’s not just about total number of devices watching something. Ratings also consider the total number of people looking at a single device….. aka household average.
You just want to draw people in however you can. My wife talking about Taylor Swift at the Super Bowl at work is a whole new demographic talking about the NFL. Yeah… it’s a strategy that works.

No, but she might tolerate me watching the whole game instead of getting pissed off at me for not wanting to do something else.
2
u/Objective_Candle4075 1h ago
It could. But it also helps more couples watch together for very different reasons. If both are invested for whatever reason than they are far less likely not to watch one weekend.

"Sit through" ads is a little misleading. If she's half paying attention, then she will still see/hear ads even if she's doing something else. Decades of advertisement research means they know exactly how to plant a seed with loud noises, quick cuts, and repetitive messaging. If showing an occasional WAG on TV is enough to get other people in the houses to be in the same room as the TV, then the networks will get the added corresponding ad revenue if they convince the advertisers that they are getting people's attention.

Different sport, but my female colleagues started watching Formula 1 because they really found attractive a pilot, Charles Leclerc. But now they are following on Instagram and know a lot of details about most pilots wives and girlfirends. They seem more intersted in their love lives than the sport.

Correct show me Hailee Steinfeld at least once a Bills game and T.Swift zero times a Chiefs game.

Here's Stafford... and here's his wife. STAFFORD WITH A BIG THROW! and his excited wife. STAFFORD TOUCHDOWN! and his wife is happy. Rams about to win with a FG and blocked! Stafford wife sad. Josh Allen with a big run! His GF Steinfeld nervous. Bills win on a FG! Steinfeld happy.

I think it’s weirder that you care so much that you came to Reddit to talk about it. When they start showing the wives during an active play, I’ll have a problem, until then show me Kelly smirk when Matt hits Tae late.

Hate to break it to ya but the player wives are getting women involved and it all started with Taylor swift. The screaming i hear now when Travis Kelce catches a pass. It's the most they've ever gave a damn

Same like when you’re watching a movie and it’s like Neil Armstrong or some other super interesting protagonist who has a super interesting job…couldn’t care less about their family drama. The nagging wife despite the fact her husband is a hero.

They can cut to Hailee Steinfeld as many times as they want. That woman is smokin hot.

There are plenty of people who do.. relax. Your giving a shit who they show between plays is far more unusual than a few shots of people’s significant others.
