I'M REQUESTING Looking for obscure, not really talked about movies

Lately I've been into wanting to watch movies that were so good yet for whatever reasons they didn't get talked about, reviewed and/or advertised.

Looking for Rom-Com, comedies, sci-fi or fantasy but open to any genre except horror. And anything from 60s/70s to now.

Edit: wow! Thank you all so much for all the recommendations. More than I thought I'd get ♥️. I appreciate it all of you.

I'M SUGGESTING Predestination (2014) — My Mind Is Officially Blown

Just finished watching Predestination and WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL 😭 I went in expecting a normal time-travel movie and came out questioning everything. The plot twists are insane, and the way everything connects is genuinely mind-blowing. If you love movies that mess with your brain, this is a must-watch. 10/10 for making me sit there in silence trying to process what I just watched.

I'M REQUESTING Movies with lots of YELLING

Watched a lot of movies with yelling and screaming lately, hoping to keep the trend up. Genre or time period not important.

I've already seen: Network, Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf, The Player, Fatal Attraction, Do The Right Thing, Full Metal Jacket.

I'M REQUESTING movies about getting your life together?

Like the title says, I’m really in need of inspiration and would love a movie where the protagonist is down in the dumps and comes out of it. something that inspires hope. Shawshank and Whiplash did that to me oddly.

I'M REQUESTING Serial killer, murder, thrillers I might have missed?

• Upvotes

Myself and my niece (20) get together a couple of times a week and watch a movie. She was on a major horror kick but we've exhausted all the good ones. We watched Silence of the Lambs (as a transition from horror) this week and she loved it. She's on for a seriel killer buzz now. I've got some of the usual suspects lined up (Henry, Seven, Zodiac etc) but am just looking for suggestions of some good ones that I may have missed over the years. Not necessarily gore packed (we've probably seen those on the horror kick) but something with lots of weight and atmosphere would be great. Cheers.

I'M REQUESTING Best pulp-inspired movies (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Sin City, The Maltese Falcon, Quigley Down Under)

Pulp fiction has inspired filmmaking to this day. From swashbuckling capers like Zorro, to the gritty crime drama of L.A. Confidential.

The pulp magazines, radio serials, and B-pictures of the 1930s and 1940s left us all with a rich legacy of imaginative entertainment, and I'd appreciate your suggestions for your favorites. Any era is absolutely welcome!

Thanks a lot, I appreciate it.

I'M REQUESTING Films with extremely over saturated color grading

I'm NOT looking for movies that merely use a lot of bright colors like Speed Racer or Cat in the Hat. I'm looking for color grading so saturated, it would be off putting to most people. Mystic Shrine Maiden is the only example that comes to mind.

I'M REQUESTING Looking for some dark/bleak/depressing dramas. Along the lines of Oslo August 31st

Going thru a hard time and watching movies where I can relate to the main character helps me a lot. Oslo August 31st has been the best one I’ve found so far.

Leaving Las Vegas is also really good.

So yeah just a drama that’s very dark/bleak and especially depressing. A very real look at mental illness/depression. Thank you

I'M REQUESTING Magnolia(1999) style movie recommendations?

Unintentionally watched 3 movies like this recently (Magnolia, Crash :(, & Nashville) and I found myself really drawn to the concept of a bunch of moving characters and pieces.

Would love to get recommendations if there any big ones. Getting ready to watch Short Cuts as I type this.

I'M REQUESTING Recommendations For Low Stimulation, Feel Good Movies? 25 y/o M & F

Hello, Everyone! ☺️ My boyfriend and I love to unwind after work (lawyer / finance) by watching low stimulation / feel good movies. We have a concrete routine: make Rooibos tea, eat a chunk of dark chocolate, and light some calming incense. Home really feels like our sanctuary.

We have been at our routine for almost a year now, and are starting to run out of our own movie ideas. So, here I am! We love children’s animated classics (Curious George, Cars, Up, Fantasia, etc.); Disney live-actions (Princess Protection Program, Luck of the Irish; Lizzie McGuire); Studio Ghibli; and alternative low-stimulation (Wes Anderson, Fried Green Tomatoes, The Odd Life of Timothy Greene).

Please, please, please, give me your coziest, low-stimulation recommendations!!!

I'M SUGGESTING Stalker 1979

One of the greatest philosophical films I've ever seen. The film takes you on a journey through the lives of three different people: a writer, a scientist, and a believer. Each speaks about life from their own perspective and whether a person truly knows themselves. Imagine entering a room that will grant you not just what you say you want, but what you truly desire at the deepest level of your consciousness, even if you don't acknowledge it to yourself i recommend it for anyone feels lonely and try to understand himself

I'M REQUESTING What are some movies (or any media really) where BOTH sides are truly morally grey? (Please read body)

And I don’t mean something like Fallout New Vegas, where one side wants you to pay taxes and the other will enslave you, I’m talking truly there’s no real “good side,” like Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty.

I'M REQUESTING Single Location Ensemble Films That Span Time

I'm looking for examples of ensemble films (ideally at least six fully fleshed out characters) that take place at a single location over a span of time. There are a lot films that come to mind which chronicle one day/night or even a long weekend at a single location with a group of characters, but I'm hoping for some suggestions with stories that last weeks or months, possibly even several years. Any era or genre that applies is great, although dramas are preferred.

I'M SUGGESTING "HOKUM" on Hulu is a good horror!!

Watched it last night with my BF....was better than expected!! Kind of a good vs evil storyline.

The protagonist is really unlikeable at first....until his deep childhood trauma comes back to haunt him.

Good story in general. If you are looking for a good spooky movie for this tine o year this is a good one.

I'M REQUESTING Looking for the best period piece horror & thriller films

Recently have really loved horror/thriller films that are also period pieces that take place before let’s say 1940, films like The Beguiled, The Awakening, All of Robert Eggers films, Picnic at Hanging Rock, The Others, Stonehurst Asylum, Interview with a Vampire. Bonus points for films with dark academia vibe set in England.

I'M REQUESTING Movies where someone's life improves after a breakup

Got dumped yesterday. Have a history of feeling like my world is falling apart after breakups. I'd like some movies where someone's life improves after a break up. Especially if the improvement is NOT about finding another partner. TIA.
