Discussion Which monitor for someone who gets headaches gaming (sometimes) 500 budget (Marketplace options near me listed)

Getting a monitor for gaming, doesn**'**t need to be the best thing ever and I am looking on Marketplace. I have saved up for months to buy something and don't want to make a big mistake.

500 Budget

I do sometimes get headaches from playing longer sessions especially if the game has underwater play, motion sickness/headaches happen. I don't know if OLED or something else would be better for me.

My room is mostly dark(ish) so it will never be super bright due to lack of window.

Open to any suggestions: Here is a list of what I have seen near me available

1/ Samsung 40" Odyssey G75 WUHD 180hz - 425 dollars

2/ Alienware 34" curved 165hz - 450 dollars

3/ Samsung 46" CHG90 144hz - 450 dollars

4/ ASUS ROG Swift OLED 32" PG32UCDMR 240hz - 600 dollars (above budget but available)

5/ Samsung G9 Super 49” OLED 240HZ - 500 dollars (scared too big/wide)

They are the 5 options I have available. Also I know there are some "sales" on 27inch on Amazon etc but I was hoping for a 32"+ ideally just as I've never tried one before. Maybe silly but it's my thinking.

Any suggestions you may have are greatly valued.

OLED monitors due to their power flickering cycle. It may make your headache actually worse it’s faster than your eye can see but your brain still kind of processes it which can make your headache worse. Maybe if you can find one that has like improved technology? Otherwise IPS is probably your best bet for headache free gaming because it’s flicker free.

I have the same problems, I lived with an OLED but couldn’t do it anymore. I switched to mini led acer Nitro XV275U F3 should be in your budget check it out. If I play anything with HDR for to long it’s inevitable, but the brightness from these panels don’t seem to trigger my motion sickness or headaches nearly as much. 32 inch I’d advise against I’ve tried so many different panels and just can’t find one that doesn’t set me off. Especially curved.

Re: motion sickness. Make certain to set you FOV as high as possible.

For me it was switching from Qd Oled to Tandem Woled and no issues since.
