Welcome to the community! Whether you are completely "green" (no experience) or looking to pivot your skills into the mining sector, you’re in the right place.

Quick Steps to Get Started:

  1. Before posting, browse our pinned threads for guides on standard entry-level roles, mining resumes, and required local certifications.

  2. Introduce Yourself: Want to introduce yourself right away? Drop a post detailing your background, what role you’re targeting (e.g., Dump Truck Driver, Trade Assistant, Driller's Offy), and where you are located.

A quick note on regional terminology: Because we are a global group, you will see a lot of Aussie terms like FIFO (Fly-In, Fly-Out), Greenie (Beginner), and Tickets (Certifications). If you ever get confused by the slang, just ask!

Stay safe, respect your fellow rookies, and good luck on the job hunt!

Getting your first job in mining is tough. Between trying to figure out which certificates you need and dealing with job ads that demand "experience," it can feel impossible to get your foot in the door.

We started r/MiningRookies to fix that.

Our mission is simple: To help you land your very first job in the mining industry, no matter your background.

🎯 What We Are All About

• No "Dumb" Questions: Traditional mining forums can be rough on beginners. Here, you can ask anything without being judged. Want to know about camp life, shift work, or what a certain job actually does? Just ask.

• 100% Free Advice: A lot of scams out there charge money to "fix your resume" or "guarantee" you a mining job. Our mission is to keep this community completely free. You get real advice from real people for zero dollars.

• Help From Real Pros: We bring together total beginners and experienced mining veterans. Whether you want to work in Australia, Canada, or anywhere else, you can get advice from people who have actually done the job.

It doesn't matter if you currently work in retail, farming, construction, or just finished school. If you want to get into mining, you belong here.

Grab your hard hat, ask your questions, and let’s get you hired!

Mines hiring for entry level positions in canada

I've been trying to get a mining job for the last 4-5 months or so, and it seems almost every position requires common core or previous mining experience.

I'm considering taking an underground hard rock miner common core course if I can't land a mining job in the next few months.

Does anyone know of any mines in canada hiring people without experience?

Currently only have these safety tickets: CPR/AED level 3 and H2S.
