House/Base I’ve finally finished my bachelor’s degree for good, and I built this during my well-deserved free time.
Well, the master's degree course is starting soon, unfortunately Hahahahaha

Hey everyone!
Wanted to give it a try and build some brutalism. The layout and design are heavily inspired by a few reference builds I found on Pinterest (though one of the images turned out to be AI slop).
I tried doing a vertical gradient going from darker, weathered blocks at the bottom to lighter stone towards the top, but I'm not sure how well the transition works.
Included screenshots with and without shaders for clarity. Any feedback or advice is appreciated.

Also, yes, I know wood can catch on fire, but I realized that after I built the great wall of AM, and now I'm too deep in it to just...destroy the whole thing and start again.

sometimes i’ll be chilling, building stuff like this, having fun, then i watch a minecraft youtuber build a whole city, terraform an entire biome, and casually say “yeah i did this off camera” 💀
not even mad, it just lowkey makes you feel like your world is trash when it’s really not. minecraft’s still fun even if you’re not building a cinematic masterpiece every time.
anyone else feel this or am i just bad 😭

The old medieval style (pre-2019) was much better-looking to me. I like its detailed stone patterns, more frequent use of spruce wood and its detalization. It looks more professional in comparison with the new style that came after 2018, so I made these two houses for a comparison to show you the difference.

You probably won't believe my real-world job. But it does not allow me to play the game as much as I want to. There are times it would take 3 or 4 months before I can come back to my world. But when I do, I think of builds to add beauty and function to this world. The aerial view only tells half the story. The underground area is as busy as the surface with live moving minecarts (on loop but with randomizer) deep in the mines to simulate life. I take inspirations from Pinterest, much of the builds here are from Shera Nom. The main base is also a pinterest post, but I have no idea who owns the original build, not even the dimensions, interiors or exact materials. I don't use world editing tools or schematics; I prefer trial and error. I am alright with tearing builds down when I need to change it. This area has become OP in a survival sense, with materials enough for me to survive the next two years of gameplay, and I may need to start building somewhere else to feel the need to gather resources. Wherever, whenever that will be, this base island will forever be my home.

I'm pretty simplistic. My Humble homestead with a hay barn, livestock barn, well, bamboo, all the stuff that grows, and my house. Cozy place. Right next to spawn, next to a village and built over a massive cave system.
