Applying for a job in 1975: you have jobs? Yeah, can you start tomorrow? Pay is double if you have a bachelor

Just go in there and ask for job and give firm handshake. They practically throw jobs at you after that.

Listening to our Baby Boomer parents' bad job advice and following through on it only to get told by a visibly uncomfortable manager to fill out an app online is basically a core Millennial experience.

Duddeee I low-key believed that boomer crap, brought my printed resume to a Starbucks and they legit looked at me like I was a primitive troglodyte.

It's not bad advice per se, it was just outdated by the 00s/10s. In the late 90s, I got my starting jobs just by showing up and not visibly looking like a creep. Granted that worked for minimum wage stuff moreso than actual career positions.

Just put on a suit and walk into any Fortune 500 company and hand them your resume! It’s that simple!

Bonus: Don’t ask for a promotion or raise! Just work hard it’ll get noticed all on its own

To be fair, some industries are still like that, but they’re the cheap paying ones. To get a job at a restaurant you need two qualifications:

  1. Currently breathing
  2. Not currently incarcerated

And number 2 is flexible

there's a ton of jobs like that. i've never had an issue. i guess these people are talking about specific careers they want?
