All PAL European Master System Sega Cards

Post image

All 10 PAL Master System cards CIB!

  • Ghost House
  • My Hero
  • Spy vs Spy
  • Teddy Boy
  • Super Tennis
  • Bank Panic
  • TransBot
  • F16 Fighter
  • Great Soccer
  • HangOn

Two of these were not released in the UK boxed. Great Soccer, and HangOn which was bundled with some Master System 1 consoles as a cart and manual only.

Great Soccer came from Germany and cost about 75 Euros which I think is pretty good these days, with manual.

HangOn was the hardest CIB game to obtain, and I've known it to be faked or mislabelled in places like CeX which actually have a listing for it despite it not having a UK release. Mine came from Australia.

Gameplay wise, Ghost House and Bank Panic are my picks of this bunch. F16 is absolutely terrible!

Did a video on each of these too with some gameplay, if interested, which is up on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akyXjl9Oz0U :)

I loved me some spy vs spy. Great game.

This game still confuses me lol Is it better vs a real person or CPU?

Good question. Playing through the whole game vs the computer was a good time. I think for this game I enjoyed playing both ways equally.

I wish all the games today were sold in this format. These cards are pretty cool, and the box is a nice size.

Had Transbot and Ghost House (I swapped Bank Panic for it).

Transbot is great for 2 player hi-score challenges (it never ends, and it gets hard after a few loops).

Ghost House is probably in the top 5 hardest games on the SMS, because no continues. When you're dead, you restart. It's probably not quite as hard as I remember (you can probably farm health pickups and stuff), but it is tough just because of that. Watching the speedrun WR is a thing of beauty.

what would that be worth these days then?

😅 I wish I didn't look, but if you went by CeX retail you'd be down about 750 quid CIB. That said, HangOn goes for more and must be imported unless you want card only!

Ah good to know, I collected loads of them back in mid 2010s at car boots. Pretty sure I've got all the cards somewhere in boxes in the garage, got 100s of carts as well. Will dig em out and see what cex reckons

nice. A big chunk of that value is on Soccer (whyy) and HangOn with box and manual! Prices for loose cards are a lot more reasonable.

Found some of them, can't find that hang on one though

Found some more loose cards I picked up back in day, just not a boxed hang on version sadly

You've got some nice different variants there. Fighting Falcon I think is the US version? And yeah the soccer one is worth quite a bit. I was lucky and got a good price on mine even after shipping.

I did have a few of those on cart when they were released. Teddy Boy's looping backgrounds used to give me nightmares!

1

u/mikejolley Sep 12 '26

There is a severe lack of backgrounds in that one, but I'm guessing you mean the maze like level. I hate navigating mazes too ha

Ah yes, that's what I meant!

I had a master system but never had a single one of these cards. Interesting to see that there were so few!

2

u/mikejolley Sep 12 '26

They were short lived! I think everyone I knew had the Master System 2, which doesn't even have a card slot.

They were cheaper than carts but had very limited capacity.

Quite quickly, the price of carts came down. Everything here was re-released on a cart except for Great Soccer which is not the same Great Soccer as the cart Great Soccer which is actually World Soccer.

I had Teddy Boy, Super Tennis, and Great Soccer (all on cartridge). Teddy Boy was probably the worst for me as it was just repetitive slop, though Super Tennis up there due to the seemingly non-existing hitboxes making the game frustrating to say the least. Great Soccer was only semi-decent for the penalty shootout matches.

Awesome, only other thing I can think of that uses that slot are the 3D glasses?

1

u/mikejolley Sep 12 '26

Yeah I think thats it. The Mega Drive Base Converter also had a card slot, so it did linger despite being removed from Master System 2.

I have an Everdrive cart for the Master System, but man, I wish someone would make an Everdrive card, that would be dope.

Teddy boy was awesome

I have Transbot on PAL and the Japanese one too, and The Japanese Teddy Boy as well. I'm envious of your collection! Just something so satisfying about games on card. I have a small HuCard collection too.

Nice. I've got a couple of these. Not good ones though.

I loved these. I remember saving up and going to the ball to buy My Hero, so freaking cool!

1

u/Fearless-Bowler-9839 Sep 13 '26

Cool. I had only ever seen Transbot on a card before

1

u/WhipLash777 Sep 13 '26

I used to play F-16 Falcon most mornings before going to school.

I have Ghost House, wish I had Bank Panic too. One of the best SMS games, imo.
