Her comments about “swag” was very immature to me. Nothing was wrong with the way he dressed. Her outfits don’t scream high fashion either. So I was confused on why she kept giving him a hard time.

u/shadows515 Jun 04 '26

She doesn’t exactly ooze swag and grace. She fine but it’s not like she maneuvers a room with noticeable style. She almost is a bit clumsy. Surprising she was putting him down.

3

u/Affectionate-Ruin330 Jun 11 '26

Is grace/elegance really the thing she was focused on? Seemed her use of swag meant something more like ‘balls’.

2

u/shadows515 Jun 12 '26

I kind of read it like he had no air about him, when it seemed neither did she .

13

u/sanctusylang May 29 '26

She is way too focused on skin color. The differences between their focus on skin color is very telling. He isn't concerned one bit. I bet she thought she'd get a dude who worshipped her because of her phenotype. Instead, he could care less. So SHE started in with that nonsense.

20

u/Puzzleheaded-Bat5879 May 29 '26

I think it’s worse she keeps bringing up that he’s essentially not black enough for her. He seems like the best guy this season.

10

u/emaoutsidethebox May 29 '26

I think Camille is very pretty, probably the most attractive on the show in terms of the whole package. I was a little confused about her wanting him to have more "swag" when in reality she is pretty standard or simple in her attire or presentation.

5

u/Radiant-Broccoli-530 May 30 '26

She definitely was. She kept repeating variations of the same if not the same outfit. But want to talk about swag?!? I’m happy she was mature enough to move past that. They seemed like a sweet couple.

4

u/MissSaucy_22 May 28 '26

Yeah didn’t like her and her horse like teeth were too big 😬😖🥴

10

u/Accomplished-Eye4610 May 28 '26

She has so many matching outfits lol

4

u/piratekim May 28 '26

I know. Im not trying to rag on her at all. Her style is fine just a bit basic.

9

u/Western_Ad_6437 May 26 '26

It’s a black thing baby. Check out the “black wife effect on TikTok” and you’ll get it

2

u/CardiologistMoney309 Jun 05 '26

… how does that have to do with her lack of swag

5

u/ThingsGold May 25 '26

New drinking game: when you hear “swag”, take a shot. Spoiler: no one makes it to the end of the show…

2

u/emaoutsidethebox May 29 '26

Aren't these two still married?

1

u/CatLady1226 May 30 '26

I think they meant they’d be too drunk to continue watching the show regarding taking a shot when you hear the word swag. Not referring to the couples.

17

u/ashemoney May 25 '26

The way she talks through her teeth like she’s a ventriloquist dummy always bothers me

3

u/Shanshine13 May 27 '26

It's so distracting. Does she have veneers, is that why?

2

u/Grouchy-Song-5405 May 25 '26

I can’t even remember who she is or who he is!

12

u/heroshhh May 25 '26

Especially when she seemed very vanilla (boring), but I get it you like/want what you want.

3

u/AnalysisExtreme3375 May 25 '26

It's so funny I've been A MAFS fan and forgot about her. Hmmm 🤔 there was reason she was single SMH 😑. They gave her a perfect rather great match oh well it is what is with this one

19

u/Frosty-Definition-46 May 24 '26

Even talking about swag sounds immature…you want a husband and a family while focusing on “swag”

7

u/Marbleprincess_ May 26 '26

Both are possible…

3

u/BDWJ1990 May 26 '26

Yes, and they saying she is FOCUSING on that when as a grown adult, now married, that shouldn't be your main concern.

Beyond that, if you are this lazer focused on these types of things, try to find someone on your own. You have to willing to bend on your preferences for this type of thing.

2

u/Marbleprincess_ May 26 '26

She did end up compromising, so all is well.

33

u/Repulsive_Dish_427 May 24 '26

That was code for "not black enough", "not masculine enough" or some combination of the two. It was rather childish and as a lighter toned black woman who plays basketball, she should know better than to play into either of those implications.

1

u/Efficient_Ice_8008 May 27 '26

It was definitely code but I personally think what she was trying to say was that he was dorky as hell, because he was. So dorky, ruined it.

6

u/piratekim May 29 '26

She is too though.

3

u/Efficient_Ice_8008 May 29 '26

I don't personally agree. I think she's kind of plain but not dorky. But I do remember when the season aired that many asked why she was so interested in swag, she herself being swagless.

2

u/piratekim May 29 '26

"Swagless" 💀 lol

4

u/Repulsive_Dish_427 May 27 '26

She would never view a man as dorky that she felt was black enough, so it's really the same thing.

1

u/Efficient_Ice_8008 May 28 '26

I can see what you mean. If both of these people were white and everything else is the same, I could see White Camille calling White Thomas swagless nevertheless. But race for sure switches things up here.

13

u/Helpful_Peanut_860 May 25 '26

Heavy on the “code for ‘not black enough’”. If that isn’t obvious to others, they do not understand the complexity of racial dynamics within minority relationships. And this is coming from a bright white person.

17

u/Ok-Active-7023 May 24 '26

Here’s what people missed. Swag isn’t a black thing or a culture thing. Swag is about style, confidence, & self-awareness, and he lacked all of that!

He was awkward, uncomfortable & somewhat “weird” (for lack of a better word) at moments. What she wasn’t fully articulating (in the edited parts we saw) is that it wasn’t just about style, but also the confidence & ability to step up in their relationship. Unfortunately, style was the only thing that she could address without sounding like a total b*tch (although, clearly people still felt that way).

Ultimately, though, she was right because as soon as his style started changing, so did his confidence & presence. He started seeing himself differently. He showed up differently, and he carried himself with more presence, strength, self-awareness & “swag”.

She didn’t change who he was. She simply introduced him to another, stronger, more confident, version of himself. Now, years later, they are still together, thriving, and seemingly loving & happy.

3

u/Intelligent-Ad6158 May 25 '26

100% agree. She wasn’t that into him in the beginning but stayed committed and helped him level up, which he did.

4

u/Automatic_Cow_1491 May 27 '26

I agree somewhat--but she brought up blackness and him growing up different than her too much. Basically, insulting a black man by saying he wasn't black enough for her.

3

u/Radiant_Ad8108 May 24 '26

I think she employed the useful skill of keeping him on the defense. Rejecting him before he rejected her. It was smart i don’t think they wound have made it otherwise

5

u/Expert_Cautious May 24 '26

This 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯

7

u/droogles May 24 '26

Me neither. She did t exactly have a high level of appeal either. Perhaps the producers prodded her to keep bringing that up.

25

u/Worldwidewesss May 24 '26

I think she just wanted someone more associated with the black community….this is the most politically correct way I could say this

5

u/Radiant_Ad8108 May 24 '26

So shes super ghetto. Im from the black community none of my family or friends have “swag”… being poor and from a bad neighborhood isnt the black community. Black community doesn’t have a way of talking dressing and acting. I liked him how he was

5

u/Ok-Active-7023 May 24 '26

She’s far from being super ghetto. He, though, came across really awkward & nerdy initially. She wasn’t attracted to that.

What’s more, swag isn’t about being part of the black community. Swag is about style, confidence, & self-awareness. That is what he was lacking, and the only thing she could address was the style part. In the end, she was right. As soon as his style started changing, so did his confidence. Now, years later, they are still together, loving & appearing to be happy.

12

u/AxCel91 May 24 '26

What made it more funny is she’s mixed just like him. What if he countered with “well I wish you’d tap into your white side more” 🤣

0

u/Radiant_Ad8108 May 24 '26

She doesn’t have a white parent

4

u/Automatic_Cow_1491 May 27 '26

He had 2 loving parents and a mixed mother who unselfishly gave him that life. I thought she was very derogatory, basically saying a black man wasn't black enough for her.

18

u/NYFlyGirl89012 May 24 '26

She was tiresome

17

u/faylillman May 23 '26

Her wedding dress was terrible. Swag is something she needs to work on more than anyone else this season.

8

u/Mindysveganlife May 23 '26

I wonder, are they still together?

23

u/ShelleyMonique May 23 '26

Yes and all the while wearing those ugly outfits.

19

u/Odd-Local8287 May 23 '26

I think it’s a sign of immaturity on her part tbh

21

u/jennwhyfar May 23 '26

I haven't rewatched this one in a while but I feel like it was probably something production pushed them to talk about because there wasn't really anything else. Sometimes when they have couples that actually get along well they make them fixate on the dumbest shit just to stir some kinda drama 😂 they're one of my favorite couples.

4

u/kikixdivine May 23 '26

you’re so right. I remember a much earlier season that had a couple who got along really well and never fought, so the experts just made the fact that they had no problems, into a problem 😂

2

u/jennwhyfar May 27 '26

Maybe Danielle and Bobby? IIRC "my spouse is just so perfect, so I have to ask myself... can I really put up with this for the rest of my life?" was the jist 😂

2

u/kikixdivine May 27 '26

yes that’s them! they’re still together today!

1

u/jennwhyfar May 27 '26

They are, poppin out them perfect little conservative aryan babies back to back to back 😂

Although we definitely saw a different side of their relationship dynamics during Couple's Cam, Bobby is absolutely NOT the polite and quiet guy he was on the actual show 😂 Well, Danielle seems to enjoy it, so good for them I guess!

17

u/leesadee_ May 23 '26

I'm watching this episode right now. As much as I love both of them, I always thought he seemed way cooler than her. There's nothing wrong with her, she just dresses plainly in comfortable clothes, especially compared to the other ladies on the show. He always looks nice with stylish well fitting clothes. The episode where he came straight from work in a suit, he looked amazing!

That being said, I have a pajama set that looks like this outfit only in a dusty red color. I swear it's the same from Amazon. LOL

9

u/000fleur May 24 '26

Nothing wrong with her. But she has boring old white woman vibes for someone who needs a dude with soo much swagger lol

10

u/leesadee_ May 24 '26

I'm a middle age white women in the burbs and wear her outfits as pajamas, and never out of the house. I have more swagger. 🤣

3

u/000fleur May 24 '26

Exactly lol thank you!

8

u/leesadee_ May 24 '26

Haha, while we're being petty. I actually think he has more "swagger" and style and is cooler than her in general. It irritated me that she kept trying to bring him up to her level when I honestly thought it should be the other way around, or at least mutual. He never had anything bad to say about her. I know they're still together so I'm sure she appreciates him more than depicted on the show.

4

u/000fleur May 24 '26

I totally agree! He felt above her in terms of coolness level, for sure! It was so strange to watch her think otherwise. She seemed soooo basic lol (not a bad thing!)

10

u/piratekim May 23 '26

Exactly. There's nothing wrong with her or her style at all it's just weird for her to rag on someone else.

They are the only couple that had a sexual relationship and are still married.

2

u/piratekim May 23 '26

You're probably right! I think so many people on the show do this.

11

u/ConsiderationEven424 May 23 '26

In my humble assessment, she is lacking a little bit of attraction to him. Sees a diamond in the rough. She wants to be attracted more, because she feels like this could work. But whatever vibe he is giving, it doesn't do it for her. I mean, attraction is what it is; we like what we like. If it makes the difference as to whether there will be more physical action, I imagine he won't mind it. The vocabulary in question may not be the greatest. But hey, I did a glow-up on my own husband (while we were dating) many years ago. He was ready for it. I have a good eye for things like that. He just needed some help. So I helped him with his hair, got him some new glasses, and those little tweaks made a big difference. And he loved it. And he got me started on my own love of ridiculous t-shirts. But sure, if I had kept referring to that process as him getting "swag" (or whatever we were calling it then) I imagine I would have grated on a lot of nerves!

30

u/magikgr20 May 23 '26

it's weird bc he comes off entirely more confident than her. she's very frumpy and hunched over

10

u/bwazoo_2000 May 23 '26

"It's delightful, it's delicious, it's DELUSION!"🎶

21

u/SomewhatBougieAuntie May 23 '26

She somehow found Garamimals for grownups.

https://giphy.com/gifs/l293yZJTEsgxeLgpE9

17

u/RipePomegranate MONTRÉ! May 23 '26

She said on interviews that editing took it and ran with it

13

u/gardenfairieofeden May 23 '26

Definitely. They had no other drama so they needed to create some to keep viewers engaged with their story

8

u/The_Original_Miser May 23 '26

Grasping at straws in the name of drama.

23

u/LaNina94 May 23 '26

She literally dressed like a soccer mom. She seemed more involved in white “culture” than she was willing to admit. Every time she talked about his swag I wanted to scream.

2

u/Ok_Value_3741 May 24 '26

What was her involvement with "white culture"? (I don't think that's a thing)

2

u/Radiant_Ad8108 May 24 '26

Involvement with white culture 😂😂😂😂😂

2

u/ShesAKillerQueenee May 24 '26

She LOOKS like a soccer mom Karen. That's the association.

3

u/LaNina94 May 24 '26

It isn’t. That’s why I put it in quotations.

44

u/MelaninMelanie219 May 23 '26

Because he was lacking swag. They were both biracial but culturally grew up different. However, she identified that he was a good man. He wasn't a deal breaker, it was just something that was different from what she was used too.

14

u/Mcayenne May 23 '26 edited May 23 '26

Yep- I remember this argument came up when it aired. Ppl with Zero cultural nuance getting mad in the comments.

I knew exactly what she meant. I’m a biracial woman who would have had the same reaction.

6

u/ColorMeSadd May 23 '26

I was so annoyed, I avoided posts here for this reason.

20

u/[deleted] May 23 '26

[deleted]

3

u/ShesAKillerQueenee May 24 '26

But it's not like she's brimming with style either??? She looks like a plain jane. And it's not like her personality helps.

24

u/caskettown01 May 23 '26

Hold on for a sec…this is Reddit…no one is looking for a rational and reasoned response. They are looking for a quick and easy way to rag on Camille.

Seriously though…thanks for the answer. It was a little tedious to watch this relationship develop but that’s probably more on the editors of the show than the couple.

8

u/zzrryll May 23 '26

I think it took her a little while to warm up to him. As one of the few relationships that actually worked it kind of makes sense.

If one were to be an armchair psychologist here. You could probably parse it, as her looking for something wrong. Because he seemed like such a good match for her, that she deep down, thought something was wrong. Since like everybody else on the show, she hadn’t had a lot of success in dating before then.

Yeah, it’s really cute that they’re still together. They’re a really great couple.

5

u/piratekim May 23 '26

I didnt know they ended up together but im glad! I hope she starts accepting him more for who he is.

3

u/zzrryll May 23 '26

It seems like she has. They’ve been married for about 3 years now. Check their socials. They are pretty adorable.

3

u/gardenfairieofeden May 23 '26

I think the producers were looking for a plot point. They can’t keep giving them airtime if all they’re doing is getting to know each other slowly and quietly testing the relationship before decision day

2

u/zzrryll May 23 '26

Right. “we’re just perfect for each other.” is a good ending, but not compelling television.

6

u/doodlerscafe May 23 '26

She still wasn’t wrong though

8

u/Upbeat-Beautiful-973 May 23 '26

EXACTLY 😆😆

10

u/Head-Concept-8447 May 23 '26

They’re still together.

2

u/piratekim May 23 '26

Can you not post spoilers?

2

u/Head-Concept-8447 May 23 '26

This is from 3 seasons ago.

3

u/piratekim May 24 '26

It's from last season. And new to netflix. But fair enough.

5

u/ShesAKillerQueenee May 24 '26

You're still late to the party, pal.

3

u/SisterDivine_ May 23 '26

That was my next question and I’m glad to hear they are! I really liked them as well! Good for them ❤️

4

u/pugfu May 23 '26

Aww I love that! I liked their story

5

u/AccomplishedFox9954 May 23 '26

Im shocked

5

u/Capital-Durian-885 May 23 '26

Im not! He was a good dude, swag can be implemented

4

u/Typical_Dot4725 May 23 '26

 and he found his swag

12

u/Head-Concept-8447 May 23 '26

I’m not. She realized there’s nothing but trash out here. Stick with what you got.

16

u/Kindergarten4ever May 23 '26

She’s one of the women who likes the bad boys above her pay grade that cheat on her

1

u/zenseazon Juan the Con May 23 '26

I couldn't stand her, she was such a busy body and never gave any input, she was there to get all the goss... she had an awful attitude and personality and her clothes were soooo yuk!

97

u/gardenfairieofeden May 23 '26

She was politely saying she’s more involved in Black culture than he is and she’s missing the cultural elements in her partner that she expected. She’s calling that cultural gap “swag”

1

u/BDWJ1990 May 26 '26

Find a different word or way to express your thoughts then. Shit was corny.

1

u/naijaboiler May 25 '26

no. he's missing that too. but its still different and separate from what she was calling swag.

13

u/InspectorLittle395 May 23 '26

Ironic coming from her. It’s like this meme.
https://giphy.com/gifs/l36kU80xPf0ojG0Erg

2

u/piratekim May 23 '26

She did say that at some points, but I'm referring to when shes specifically referring to fashion and clothing ...

28

u/IceCreamSundae82 #ble$$ed May 23 '26

I think this went over a lot of people’s heads as most people are thinking she meant his actual clothing style.

15

u/InspectorLittle395 May 23 '26

No it didn’t. She’s very vanilla and reserved. No swag and I don’t see my culture with her 😂

6

u/ShesAKillerQueenee May 24 '26

Thank you!!!! All this talk about "swag" when she has the personality of a dish rag.

35

u/trollanony May 23 '26

Swag is an attitude or vibe. He just didn’t have the usual type of air about him that she was used to because he grew up with white folks.

-5

u/just67browsing May 23 '26

Goooot it, so casual racism

3

u/piratekim May 23 '26 edited May 23 '26

She was critiquing his "outfit" in this scene and talking about his clothing.

0

u/just67browsing May 23 '26

I’m replying to the person above and the laughable racism in this thread and the expectation of behavior because he’s half black is repulsive

6

u/piratekim May 23 '26

I know what you mean but I took this pic and posted this right after she was talking specifically about clothing.

36

u/InspectorLittle395 May 23 '26

Agree, but she was very vanilla 😂

27

u/Capital-Durian-885 May 23 '26

She definitely wasnt a fashionista but i think she was referring to the way he carried himself vs his wardrobe

10

u/piratekim May 23 '26

Does she really carrier herself much differently?

6

u/Capital-Durian-885 May 23 '26

Yes, she did…. much differently lol. I feel like ppl tiptoe around this but his phenotype says black but nothing else about his says black & as a black woman that can be off putting.

1

u/krizzzombies May 27 '26

well he was adopted so idk that's more on the matchmakers not to pick up on the fact that they'd both feel alienated

3

u/piratekim May 23 '26 edited May 23 '26

This photo is directly after she looked at his closet and then was specifically talking about his outfit

7

u/piratekim May 23 '26

Idk why im getting downvoted. Im watching the season and took the photo at the point they were talking about his clothing and "outfit."

18

u/R_437 May 23 '26

I had the same thoughts!! I love that her casual outfits are so real (casual / frumpy), so it was annoying to continually hear her say he needed “more swag”.

20

u/letzmakeadeal May 23 '26

Omg I know. She had the worst outfits. It was like she searched “matching lounge set” on Amazon and clicked the first one she saw and bought it in every color. I felt sorry for her match

5

u/Bubbly_Afternoon_345 May 23 '26

I didn’t necessarily feel bad for him but I was very surprised that he was as into her as he was.

9

u/melpomene-musing May 23 '26

Definitely a lot of Shein
