Local Politics Former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is introducing Nithya Raman to local power players in her bid for LA Mayor
Nithya Raman's coalition is looking pretty broad and diverse! While she's already been locking down a lot of backing from progressive and good government orgs/folks, she now has the public backing of local moderates, such as Fmr. Controller Laura Chick and luxury real estate broker Jason Oppenheim, and now even a former Republican governor.

Local Politics Spencer Pratt admitted to attempting to blackmail his wife into doing a reality tv show about their divorce by threatening to release multiple sex tapes. Sources in comments.
He went as far as to shop the video around and enter into talks with porn company Vivid Entertainment. He also stole a sex tape of Heidi and Karissa Shannon from Shannon's house and sold that one too.

Just ran into these guys. They are alternating between the Atwater farmers market and the postal office. They are trying to farm clips to monetize online, apparently they are there frequently.

Local Politics Unpopular opinion, maybe? This should not be a cultural monument and should be demolished
This is the Lincoln Heights Jail along the LA River. It hasn’t functioned as a jail since the 1960s, was designated a historic cultural monument in 1993, and has been unoccupied for more than a decade. It’s blighted, graffitied, closed off to the public and takes up huge space in an area begging to be redeveloped. It’s apparently significant because of its art deco design, but the majority of that architecture is not visible to the public and likely decaying on the inside. But the thing that bugs me the most, is that it’s a JAIL. A jail where hundreds of men were held for committing the crime of being gay, or suspected of being gay. The disproportionate amount of gay inmates led to the jail segregating an entire wing for suspected gay men. This huge building is walking distance from an A Line station, adjacent to the LA River, and both an eyesore and a historical wort on the area that’s not worth celebrating. Build some damn apartments, put up a plaque with historical information about the site, and make something good out of it.
Rent over.

Local Politics Nithya Raman on Homelessness: "We focused resources on sensitive areas—parks, schools—so that all of us could use public spaces safely. And it's been working. We've seen a 54% reduction in my district in tents and encampments in just a three-year period."
There's a debate between her and Mayor Bass tonight.

Local Politics Momentum is on Nithya Raman's side. The former 'Don't knows' are largely going to her. Rae Huang voters should vote for Nithya Raman to prevent a Karen Bass vs. Spencer Pratt general election:

Local Politics The Spoiler Strategy against Nithya Raman
It was already widely reported that LA County Federation of Labor has put out ads "attacking" Spencer Pratt, which are clearly aimed at boosting his profile by repeatedly mentioning that he's a Republican and decrying policies which would actually appeal to Republican voters--'He wants MORE police!' (Gift link to LA Daily News article)
This is a cynical ploy to help Karen Bass win by ensuring the top two vote-getters are her and Pratt, in a general election where 55% of the city are Democrats and 18% are Republicans. Who does that keep out of the general? Nithya Raman, who is neck and neck with Pratt, and who would be a more formidable opponent to Bass.
Now there is another so-called attack ad campaign, targeting a candidate who is polling below 5% and has no chance of winning the primary, Rae Huang, similarly decrying her policies that would actually attract leftist and progressive voters who would be most likely to support Nithya Raman: 'She supports public investment in permanent affordable homes!'
The ad is paid for by LA Police Protective League Independent Expenditure Committee (see the Form 496 below).

It's sad that hundreds of thousands of dollars are going into attack ads that aren't even acknowledging the candidate that they want to beat, apparently because they don't have anything on her.
This is like a bad episode of The Wire, if it ever had a bad episode.
Please share this widely, ballots have already gone out and they know Nithya can win.
