Don’t necessarily feel bad for folks not coming in. The past few election trends indicate that half or more of all voters vote by mail now.

I’m a purist and always vote in person on Election Day.

I'm a weirdo and walk my mail in ballot to a polling center for drop off.

The generational bridge between the past and the future…. This is a gen x voter. /s

I do roughly the same. Especially motivated by them getting rid of punchcards and inkavote and I'm not casting my vote directly into an electronic system.

38

u/MADDOGCA Nov 04 '25

That’s what I did. I mailed my ballot in.

I’m happy you voted, but for me I love the feeling of voting in person on Election Day. It just genuinely feels fun and it’s great to be surrounded by people doing this act of civic duty together with.

8

u/Aaron_Hamm Nov 04 '25

I'm the same.

5

u/Deputo_Carmelle Nov 04 '25

Totally agree with you there but doing it by mail also helps for our introverted neighbors like myself although I also enjoy the feeling of being united doing the act of civic duty only in spirit

2

u/TangerineTassel Nov 04 '25

I was like that until the last election. I voted, mailed and confirmed my ballot.

u/musicman835 Sherman Oaks Nov 04 '25

I fill it out but drop it off at the box at my library on Sat. Got the alert Monday after it was counted

u/kgal1298 Studio City Nov 04 '25

Same it's honestly the easiest way to do it.

u/skeletorbilly East Los Angeles Nov 04 '25

The goal is to have multiple forms of voting accessible to everyone. CA has also made it easier to vote(you can vote in any polling center).

u/LoveLA08 Nov 04 '25

I either fill out my ballot and bring it to my voting place on the day of (because, procrastinator) or I drop it in a voting box early. But I have to say- that allowing people to go to ANY polling place was one of the greatest changes they made! At one point, my polling place was a fancy hotel. They had appetizers and n/a beverages and were like- oh you’re here to vote? Great! Have a nosh and then go down the hall to vote. It was so smart for them, too because I still talk about that hotel over a dozen years later. I moved and was so sad that my new polling place was a musty-smelling, old church where the only thing being served was judgement and side-eye. 🙃

only thing being served was judgement and side-eye.

You voted at my childhood Catholic Church?

3

u/JEFFinSoCal SFV/DTLA Nov 04 '25

to be fair, most churches are like this.

4

u/Mediocre-Tomato666 Nov 04 '25

What hotel tho? Maybe we all wanna stay there...

6

u/LoveLA08 Nov 04 '25

The Luxe Hotel in West LA. 😊

2

u/skeletorbilly East Los Angeles Nov 04 '25

But you got the ballot in! That's all that matters. But I love random polling places and voting on election day. Unfortunately in other states you can only vote at one polling center and only on election day. They do that on purpose to stop more people voting.

1

u/LoveLA08 Nov 04 '25

Oh, I definitely turned my ballot in then and especially now! I truly actually appreciate the drop boxes very much.

5

u/Ernestooooooo78 Nov 04 '25

I worked at the registrar recorders hq in Norwalk for the past 8 years. There used to be a line around the corner and down the street to vote. We'd cut the line at 8pm but wouldn't finish the line till 9:30. Last year everyone was out of the building by 8pm. Mail in ballots took over.

2

u/Don_Thuglayo Nov 04 '25

My polling location is open like a week before elections so I usually go a few days early. Something about voting in person feels better to me

1

u/Guitarchim Nov 04 '25

Yep, I mailed in my ballot back in early October

2

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '25

Mail early so you can get confirmation it was received and go in person as a backup

Pro tip: your boss doesnt need to know you voted by mail to get off work early

2

u/Elise_Violet45 Nov 04 '25

I have a feeling that it's probably the younger gens that vote by mail, not saying it's bad or something

1

u/Tabata-Shehroz Nov 04 '25

as long as you're doing your part, whether it was in person or by mail, that's what counts.

u/Y0knapatawpha Nov 04 '25

Thank you for your service!

u/lannydavis Nov 04 '25

2020 prez election worker here - a thankless job, so thank you for your service 🫡

7

u/whatssenguntoagoblin Nov 04 '25

Can I ask how you became an election worker? I want to be one for the first time as well.

17

u/tankyouout Nov 04 '25

I was able to sign up since I work for the county but non county workers can volunteer at this website. Typically elections like these are usually staffed majority by county workers but presidential and midterm election have more opportunities available for non county workers

3

u/Murdoc1984 Los Angeles Nov 04 '25

Is this only for prop 50? I voted by mail and that's the only thing I could vote for.

3

u/Guitarchim Nov 04 '25

Yeah that's it

3

u/bramlet Nov 04 '25

Thank you for your service.

5

u/Electrical_Rip9520 Nov 04 '25

Legacy media and social media are saying that Prop 50 will pass in a landslide, so maybe its supporters are once again successfully being played into complacency.

Busiest day so far since Saturday. Consistent flow but not overwhelming

Same! Feels like a solid turnout so far.

2

u/Toxin715 Nov 04 '25

2

u/throwitonthegrillboi Nov 04 '25

I voted by mail over a week ago, but wow this is a bit pathetic.

7

u/InfernalWedgie Eagle Rock Nov 04 '25

We expect things to pick up tomorrow

3

u/skeletorbilly East Los Angeles Nov 04 '25

Unfortunately the majority of people don't vote.

Thank you for doing this work!

2

u/Im_A_Black_Cat Nov 04 '25

I turned in my ballot in person as I’m weary of the mail. But glad I voted

2

u/FargusMcGillicuddy Nov 04 '25

Mailed mine in!

2

u/Hollowpoint38 Downtown Nov 04 '25

I don't see why anyone would go to a voting center when everyone gets a mail-in ballot with free postage paid. I drop mine in the mailbox every cycle. No reason to make it more complicated.

We have like a 16% turnout in local off-cycle even with mail-in ballots. I think it's because people don't know they can just mail it for no cost.

1

u/brokenmcnugget Eastside Nov 04 '25

been waiting all week to get deployed to a voting center and i don't think its gonna happen.

1

u/AccountantRadiant351 Nov 04 '25

The only reason I have been to the vote centers in the past 20 years is the 2 elections there was a problem and I didn't get my ballot in the mail. (I was a permanent vote by mail voter before it was universal.) Honestly hated it each time. Lol

Glad you are there, but I hope I'll never have to go to one again! I love sitting and discussing our ballots as a family after thorough research, all sitting and marking them together, then walking to the library to drop them off. 😊

My family's ballots (mine, spouse, two adult children) were counted last week!

1

u/PigletEqual3066 Nov 04 '25

Voted by library pickup box!

1

u/Tamales2025 Nov 04 '25

I voted by mail. Is it only one question regarding measure 50? Uually they have extra measures or candidates.

1

u/bored_today Los Feliz Nov 04 '25

All the people working the Mar Vista location were so nice. Made me feel good to vote in person.

1

u/toes_hoe South Bay Nov 04 '25

I went with my roommates on the weekend to our local voting center and it was also quiet then. The election workers were so nice!

1

u/Shine1630 Nov 04 '25

Wait isn't it tomorrow?!

1

u/maghy7 Nov 04 '25

I dropped mine in last weekend and got my confirmation email Friday, YES on 50!!

1

u/interrupt_hdlr Nov 04 '25

wtf election on work day? non wonder nobody votes

1

u/ryosei Nov 04 '25

are they from elon ?

1

u/balanus-glandula Nov 04 '25

Question - do I have to vote at a specific polling place, or can I go to any in LA County? I work in the other side of town from where I live and forgot to send in my vote by mail ballot. So can I just go to a polling place in the SGV even though I live on the west side?

1

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '25

voted by mail. thank you for volunteering

1

u/Jezon Nov 04 '25

I helped in the elections in 2020. It was so exciting and stressful. I mean the job was very easy but it was a tumultuous time and I was real worried about the results. Everyone else was pretty chill though. Would highly recommend. It was fun participating in our Civic institutions.

1

u/schmoseph79 Nov 04 '25

Such a great use of tax payer money.

It's a bit too far for me. I won't be voting.

-5

Delete this! Don't post shit like this to give people reasons to appose the election, you fucking idiot!

1

u/Intrepid-Anybody-704 Nov 06 '25

More than 80% of people vote by mail. We should normalize that discussion. Not asking people to vote on Election Day.
