Sketch This is still one of my favourite sketches in recent times...

"In luge, being the best is just sort of a height to weight distribution thing. I honestly think a corpse that's my same shape could win."
The way she says it with such authority. I know she's divisive, but Wick absolutely has her gold moments.

"Stop asking her if she knows things"

I use this as sample. It's perfect. Everything went quiet before she did the line so it's clean. btw, it's stuff not things

This whole episode was great for Jane!

Jane is to be protected at all costs.
I admit I first thought she was just some kind of weekend update piano player or whatever.
She is brilliant

Remind me of the Alex Edelman stand up where he went to the olympic skeleton qualifier and an empty sled came in 4th.

I wasn’t a fan at first but think she’s found her niche. Things like this or the water slide corpse etc. she does well in.

The tone of authority thing totally seems like a Tim Robinson vibe. Delivery is funny either way.

Agreed. Felt like this was Jane’s breakout moment. Also felt very inspired by Tim Robinson.

Wasn’t this also the case with Andy Samberg with his Cat Wars or whatever and then Lonely Island? I mean he was great in sketches too but I remember those as when I really noticed him. Jane has also had some great sketches (stop asking her if she knows stuff) and the songs and characters she’s done on WU stand out for me. Her comedy is a bit absurdist deadpan discomfort, there’s a tiny bit of Andy Kaufman in there, not everyone’s cup of tea.

Excuse me, but put some respect on the good name of Laser Cats. It’s some of Spielberg’s best work.

She literally has no acting ability whatsoever -_-

Nah she’s funny she was good in the sleepover sketch in this one the drive through one. I never even seen her other stuff but she’s funny, sorry.

no you're right. this sketch really shows her talent. so funny. definitely not monotone, no soul, no comedic timing, and definitely doesn't struggle enunciating her words. and honestly she's so natural - she definitely sounds like a human being. what a star.

I love how this sketch implies that German body shapes must have evolved to slide down a hill very fast. We hold around 70ish% of all Olympic medals in this... sport.

I think this is the sketch that turned a lot of people around on Jane. Granted, a lot of the early pushback against her was her being a awkward in live sketches and other writers not knowing how to use her, but I think this pushed her over some of that early first impression stuff that was still hanging around.

This, and skit in the same episode when Wickline says "let's stop asking her questions." I'm laughing as I type this... that dry shit always gets me

Yeah, the "let's stop asking if she knows things" was just a perfect storm of comedy and timing for me. One of the funniest moments in recent seasons.

This was the sketch that got me fully on team Jane.
"I'm sick, I can't go"

it's wild how much of current SNL is Tim Robinson style humor like this.
Tim was just too early.

As a pear-shaped person who faked sick a lot as a child, I just felt so seen.

🤣Also one of my favorites from Jane! “…we’ll see you in Milan. Not me though, i can’t go. cause i’m sick.” lmao

It's so weird how this sketch mirrors how she is at her actual job. She a terrible actress with terrible instincts and she brings a decidedly phone-it-in attitude to every role, and yet, something about the "shape" of her comedy, that has nothing to do with her abilities, seems to suit the show.

Weird they used Wick here, when almost every cast member could do this part - but funnier.

"I go straight down just like everyone but I scream the whole time"
"she's a once in a generation.... shape"
