Other Dismukes
I just want to throw some praise towards Andrew Dismukes and his portrayal of Sam I Am on the show last night. Not only did he deliver on playing the character in an original and weird—yet grounded way; but he didn’t break and managed to give Shane a supportive pat on the back. It’s like he was communicating “it’s okay, we’ve still got this.”
That’s Phil Hartman levels of professionalism right there.

Andrew is my favorite and he deserves all the love! I’m still not over his Rasta driver skit, he was locked tf in 😂

The way Mikey improv-ed in the “and you said a bad word!” was fantastic. He’s lucky he was up there with two absolute pros who handled it gracefully.

I was even more impressed that he didn't break at Mikey's brilliant adlib.
I'd love to see Mikey and Andrew paired up together more often. They have different strengths and energies that play off each other interestingly, but we rarely see it.
They also never write together which is a shame.

I think he's such an underrated part of the cast. He's such a pro but then also puts in the hours and effort in the writers room. he has a real love of the game and that sketch was proof of that. Just him and mikey moving right on with the sketch pretending nothing happened when that must have been soooooooo hard

A sincere thank you for a positive take on the episode. I thought the monologue obviously had some “jokes” that were in really poor taste, but imo this episode was a high point for the skits and musical guest this season.
(Tbc Turnstile was also an excellent musical guest)

I have loved Dismukes ever since the Jumanji sketch. He played off of Kristin Wiig really well and matched her level of rage perfectly. Hilarious.

What do you mean by original and weird? Do you watch many versions of Green Eggs and Ham? Was there something specific about the way he played it that was weird?

Honestly it was impressive to see how he handled it. I have to think it's from thousands of hours of improv and just being a good guy

Dude, I found this post cause I was looking for that too. What a pro. What a bro. You could tell that that pat meant the world to Shane, and the sketch went on just fine.

I thought he could have been needier and more salesman like as Sam I Am, frankly. He was the weakest part of that sketch.
Side Note: they couldn’t figure out some way of havinG Mikey Day actually eat something green?? Come on SNL!

Andrew is the best. I could cry just thinking about his moments in Down on a Lake Beach

That's not really what this is about, OP is comparing Dismukes to Hartman without example of the nature of the comparison aside from "professionalism" whatever the fuck that means in this context. Dismukes couldn't hold Phil's protestic caveman forehead
