Info LineageOS on AYN Thor: Not Ready

I wanted to see how LineageOS would work on such an unconventional device, and sadly, it is not good (at least for now). Quick observations: fans keep ramping up from time to time, the AYN button does not really do anything at this moment, the bottom screen is brighter than the top one on most settings and turns off on the lowest while the top screen stays visible (also, I cannot change brightness separately), and the only settings specifically for this device I found are controller mapping (Xbox/Nintendo mode, trigger settings), joystick calibration, and RGB lighting customization. Furthermore, the bottom screen still uses button navigation with gestures selected in settings (and multitasking for the bottom screen is finicky with broken scaling and does not show up when any app is opened), and I cannot pin the keyboard to the bottom screen. That is what I noticed after installation, so there are probably a lot more quirks.

I cannot complain because this is the first release and is not meant to be a drop-in replacement for the stock OS. Kudos to the LineageOS team for even tackling this field of Android handhelds, and I am really looking forward to seeing it improve in the future.

P.S. Was testing with GApps add-on installed

  1. AYN button - hadn't even thought about it - should be easy enough.
  2. Bottom screen brightness - WIP - harder than you'd think to implement split settings.
  3. Gestures - unlikely to ever be supported - this is a Google thing, Android treats secondary display's weird, there is 0 good way to implement gestures.
  4. Keyboard pinning - requires frameworks hacks - unlikely to be supported.

Fixing the AYN button to have a similar function like the stock OS and the brightness would already probably make me want to try it! Also, is there a "Thor Options" tab on the Settings menu like the default OS? there's some really useful stuff there.

No, the settings you found for joystick and RGB are the implementation we have at the moment

So currently there's no video output settings? I like the ones we have normally but would love to have more, such as 1440p60fps which is not an available option. The other ones are fine.

You can control framerate in display settings.
