Tech Help Request Line 6 Hx Stomp Xl tone inconsistency.

So i tried making tone like Dean Lamb's from his video with Nick Hill. I heard that Helix that Lamb used is the same as my Hx stomp Xl sound wise, so i tried recreating it like in the video with Badonk and XXL cabs and mine is not sounding any similar. Doesn't have enough crunch, sounds too digital. I use Seymour Duncan Jupiter rail 7 string pickup. I tried tweaking ins/outs on my Hx Stomp Xl yet I dont get any similar results. If anyone has any tips or solutions feel free to sugest them.

What does digital sound like? Are you certain your input block/global settings are the same as the preset you’re trying to emulate?

Every time something sounds bad it sounds digital

Not enough definition, lacks soul if it tells anything lol. I'll check the settings and input block tomorrow. Thank you very much for writing

There is no piece of gear that adds soul to your playing brother. Maybe post a sound clip of your preset to compare to the video?

Could be different input volume from their specific pickups. Cable capacitance taking out highs before the unit. EQ in post for the video..

Soooo many factors at play. Settings alone don’t do the trick. The best thing to glean from working out someone else’s settings is what you learn about what works and what doesn’t work for you. Also, record your tone and post it here.

I watched that same video and did everything identical on my helix stomp and it didn't sound that close to what they came up with.

I’ve done this so many times I’ve reverted back to head and cab, and my Floor is now a pedal board for effects, and it’s only stayed for its amp channel switching capabilities. I know loads of people have had huge success with the Helix line, but absolutely everything I’ve ever downloaded or emulated has sounded poor and the sheer amount of variables involved in getting a good sound is overwhelming.

What are you hearing the video on vs what are you hearing your stomp from

You all need to read the very first page of your Helix manual, because it’s all written there clearly as water.

What cab IR are you using? What guitar/pickups are you using? That can have a giant effect. What guitars were THEY using in the video (I'll watch it later today, can't right now)?
