Discussion Alumni here. I do not remember campus being this quiet when the school year was in session.

My former roommate and I went to the alumni barbecue this past week and I was shocked by how quiet campus was. I get that it was the weekend, but... Maybe I'm just remembering things wrong. Campus just felt dead outside of the event. Like I wasn't expecting too many people in U Hall, but the bluff usually has people playing hacky sack or doing physical activity or just walking.

Even on the days when I had the bluff to myself, I remember listening to people quietly playing music or watching TV from their dorms. But man, it was just us and the birds. Is this a post COVID thing? This weekend was the first time I have been back since then.

Damn didn't know it got that bad and LMU was already on a quieter side during the weekends long before COVID.

Yes lots of complaints from students now about how dead campus is…

it has been quiet for years. i think the issue worsened after convo was cancelled.

When did they get rid of convo hour?! Such a misstep on LMU's part

Yes COVID changed everyone. People sit in their dorms doomscrolling or go somewhere off campus that is more fun than being somewhere that is related to school.

That makes me sad. It's such a beautiful campus. And it's not like I didn't spend my own fair share of time on social media when I was there either. I just remember doing a lot on weekends that involved being out on campus and seeing people.

That's really interesting because when I was attending LMU, many weekends were dead minus Greek Week, lip sync, sunset concert (think it is called something else), special games, madness at midnight, lacrosse or rugby games. My freshmen year so many of my friends living the dorms went home every weekend, it was a ghost town by 2p on Fridays.

I’m an alumni too and am often on campus. I use the bluff for family photo sessions (I live in Westchester still). The campus is ALWAYS quiet and Dea’s. So much so that neither of my kids want to go to school there.
