A world-building element that episode 2 silently sets up is how organs, biological material and mechanic components are a key element in Park Planet society and economy.
If you think about it for a second, why would androids and machines have organs and biological interiors? Wouldn't be easier to just be completely mechanical?
Arthur is definetly the most prominent example in this episode: why would he need interiors in the first place? There has to be a specific purpose for that.
The same applies to Gwen. We see right from the get-go that she has organs (or at least something very similar) inside, combined with the blue substance (the only thing that separates her from Arthur, who bleeds red).
And finally, we get to the organ trafficking business ran by Sparky. In order for a business to be pursued and be profitable, there has to be demand, but who are the clients?
One option are rich people that are trying to survive blue lung and other diseases by purchasing the organs and implant them in their body.
Another option might simply be physical enhancements. If you are blind and have enough money, why not purchase a couple of functionig eyes and go back to see again? Why not purchasing a new arm, or leg?
And finally, the option that intrigues me the most: Park Planet itself.
Could it be that the Park secretly purchases organs (contributing to fund criminalty in the slums) and uses them to build androids and machines? What if are organs the key to create more "realistic" AI?
What is your opinion on the matter? I think it could be a very important topic in the future.
