As title asks, what are the signs for a kitten who has nails that are too long? Our babies are around 8-9 months old and we've never had their nails clipped. They do have plenty of scratchers in the house, and they do use them multiple times a day!
Scratchers:
Some on the cat tree
3 separate ones in their main room
One scratch mat in their main room
One wall scratcher in our room (they sometimes sleep there)
One mat scratcher upstairs as well
One sit scratcher in our room as well
They are running/playing as normal. We do find sheddings every now and then. The nails are curved but they can retract them completely. Sometimes they are skittering around with them out while playing but I think thats cause they're playing? They do groom themselves regularly and sometimes bite at their paws but very gently. One lets me touch her paws, the other doesnt (but she hasnt since we got them).
Any tips welcome! I wouldnt be confident trimming myself so would take them to the vets for it, but just wanted to sense check before making an appmnt if its not needed.

Just adopted this little guy! The shelter said he’s a Snowshoe. Named him Skelli because of his nose pattern (Looks like a skull) and spooky season. He’s super loving and very chill!

I found this kitten two days ago in the woods and I'm wondering just about a visual estimate about his age. Me and my friend are taking care of him together and named him Kurt. So this is Baby Kurt!! (named after Kurt Cobain) :D

Hello! I hope this post is allowed. Our sweet 8 year old diva passed away in July. She had unknown kidney issues and we found out too late. We are looking to open our home to two kittens when the time is right. When I got motley I felt like cats were just kind of like house plants and they would learn how to do what to do. Motley ended up great but definitely not because of me! I was 14 and didn’t know much. We are looking to get a kitten or two in spring. We got a puppy last November who grew up around our cat and has been so depressed since she passed. They were the best of buddies.
I need to know all about kittenhood. How to train what it should look like etc. I have no clue. Like should we get two or should we get one because we have the dog. We want two so if two is better we will go that route. Just any tips tricks or anything anyone has! I’m reading Jackson galaxy’s book to get a good start going.
Thank you!

This is the first time little long term foster kitten Willow has slept between my feet with her tummy exposed. She's a long term foster as she has major trust issues with people, so we are working through it with her. She's a gorgeous little girl and she's so affectionate with us, just need her to trust others.

We are still introducing the kittens to our older cats so we round them up in my room at night for safety. My sister went to grab the other one, Tatertot, while i held Gnocchi to keep her from leaving.
She was so chill being held like this, which is funny cause every time i pick her up she almost always runs off (though she has curled up into me a couple times so she doesnt hate it. Just picky when she wants loves)
Doubt her sister would let me do this though, hates being held no matter what.

My local stray cat gave birth last May to 5 babies.
Unfortunately after almost 1 month 4 of the kittens passed away during the night, the black kitten was the only one to survive, probably because she had always been twice the size of all her siblings. So I decided to bring her home to keep her safe and to give my 12 year old Nox a friend as well.
Nothing could have prepared me to a couple of months later, wake up early in the morning to the screeching screams of a kitten just below my bedroom window!
Absolutely impossible to ignore it I went out to find a tiny little fur ball hiding under a stairwell, her tiny body shaking to the core... I brought her inside to feed her and clean her up and then go to the vet and sort things out for her to be taken care of by some rescue center or so because I don't have a big house and getting the 2nd cat had already been quite a negotiation with my husband!
Well. It was mission impossible. After 30 seconds holding her I knew she belonged to our family and so here she is :
Stunning and absolutely obsessed with her older sister.
Old boy Nox loves them both too 😺🙏💕

I spent hours today assembling and hanging this, as you can imagine.
At first - my 5 month old kitten wouldn’t touch the thing. And then I just started spiraling. I thought maybe the steps were too small. Or I spaced them in a dumb way (staggered). I started to feel like this set up I’ve created was impossible for him to use and stupid and I let him and myself down!
I was picturing how I would spackle all of the holes. Have to redo it all. I can’t even tell you the tears today.
Well. Lo and behold. A few hours later. This little guy literally took it step by step. Slowly getting closer and closer to the next shelf. He has always been persistent and a problem-solver. He loves puzzles and gets obsessed with cracking the code.
But I started to doubt myself. He would take one step forward and two steps back. I thought - yeah… I messed this one up.
Fast forward…By the end of the night…. This mf was jumping OVER the bridge and into the bed on top. WTF 😭😭😭 literally doing acrobatics in my living room.
I could not believe my eyes. Pouncing from shelf to shelf. Climbing them vertically. Bouncing from shelves to the cat tree then back again.
How are they so agile and precise? This is insane!!!

I really want a cat, however my family already has a green cheek conure. If i get the cat as a kitten.. would it be possible to teach it the bird is our companion?.
As for my bird she is pretty defensive, she will bite and fly away if she senses somethings up. But she's still prey to the cat at the end of the day.
Granted i wouldnt leave either of them unsupervised, however if it cannot be done than i simply will not get the cat.
edit: i wont get a cat after reading the comments, thank you to those who replied ❤️
