What it would sound like if Joy Division had made the Fate of Ophelia
When the Fate of Ophelia first started its rounds on the radio, I couldn’t help but get a Joy Division vibe from the song and wanted to see if I could prove it if that makes any sense.
I have no idea where to post this but it took some effort and hoped anyone else might enjoy it.
No AI used, got a warning about AI covers so I figured this should be mentioned, though I did use a paid midi from the internet as the foundation of the GarageBand project.

I’m not afraid to admit that I kinda like that song and have learned it on the guitar myself. Specifically to play for my daughters but still enjoy it. Good job bud.

My dad was an extremely talented bass player but his talent came with an extremely elitist attitude to match and it always bothered me how he couldn’t get over himself. The way people are shitting on Taylor Swift here remind me of how my dad would shit on Peter Hook “because real bass players don’t use picks”.
You’re a good father for using your interests to meet your daughters.

My parents used to talk shit about all my music as well. I’m in my 50s now and anytime I mention liking a conventional song to this day my dad still says I’m surprised you like that. Dude! I like music. Music in general and all kinds. And I really love that I can bond over that stuff with my own kids. Thanks for the kind words

Real musicians use whatever the song needs to sound its best. How could using more and different techniques (a pick, in this case) ever be a bad thing? It’s a mark of creativity, in my book.

Taylor’s songs always have good melodies, it’s her lyrics that ruin them

Hope you never put time and effort into anything just to have to read disheartening things, doubt you’ll make anything with your time

You know what? You're right. I'm sorry, mate. I let my distaste for TS bring the worst of me. I wasn't criticizing your musical ability. You seem like a good musician and I'm sure you put a lot of effort and it does sound good.

Now do “So High School” — oh wait it kinda already has a Joy Division bass line. 😎

Are we talking about the Taylor Swift song?
It’s difficult to imagine that Ian Curtis would’ve written and sung derivitive lyrics like Fate of Ophelia.
