It’s a sing-along. Seven years and nobody said, “Perhaps just a normal trailer?”

Hey everyone! I’m helping the Claymatic Games team share Knuckle Creek with you all. After seven years of development, they’ve finally announced that it’s coming to Steam on 29 October.
The team have settled on $5.99 / £4.79 / €5.79, after a lot of going back and forth. They wanted people to be able to pick it up and get their mates involved without it being a big expense. After looking at similar games and talking it over, this felt right.
Anyway, here’s our earworm of a the trailer. I’m really pleased to help them get it out there.

You can't see the stupid grin on my face right now at this trailer, but it's there. So fun!

Wow what a great ad! Not my style of game really but will certainly take a good look because of the effort that's clearly gone into it

This is really unique looking. Looks like a cool beat em up. This isn't real claymation hey? Looks very good either way. Good luck on the release!

Why does this feel so familiar to me? Was there a claymation fighting game back in the olde days?

I see a bit of "I got a dream" from Rapunzel.
I'm not a brawl gamer but if some of my wife's cousins are in, I'm in.

So I'm buying it. This was such a fun trailer and really wholesome. I'd love to buy it on console too if you guys consider porting it over! Goodluck!

Ill have to see how many friends I can get together. Sounds like a fun game to play during the weekend.
Fantastic work on the music trailer, reminds me of the old Muppet song segments

Is it real claymation?

u/newretro 13h ago
Mixture of techniques including clay models, 3d scans, and blender. We couldn't have done all the customisation in pure clay.

Hi team, please consider PS5 release

We'd happily do consoles if games sold better on them but sadly it's only possible if we sell well on Steam. Sony and Microsoft platforms are basically subscription based and it's hard to get a look in as an independent unless you have a hit game. Switch is better but still a substantial amount of work. We did Platypus on all platforms and swore not to do it again.

You did Platypus? That’s the first game I have memory of as a 5/6 year old playing the demo.
I’ll definitely be checking this out & spread the word!

Feels like a hillbilly version of Clay Fighter, and it looks like a lot of fun. Sing along trailer that's actually pretty good. Wishlisted!

Is co-op planned at all, or is it mainly solo? The character customisation looks like it would be fun to play with a friend.

I think I have to buy this out of principle. Hard work like this should be rewarded 👍

So a Smash Bros clone without any of the IP?
Your trailer is mis-guided. Your sad "we're a small team" thing doesn't help. Also the quotes from rando websites no one has ever heard of makes it even worse. It actually undermines any value your game might have because you don't focus on how it's different than Smash because otherwise it's a bunch of puppets covering half the screen, and a song that feels like you're trying to distract from how derivative your game is.
I 100% guarantee you that all the positive feedback you're getting about this trailer are from people who watched no more than 15 seconds of it, commented, and have already forgotten about your game and will never buy it.
I'm not trying to be a dick - I'm trying to give you actual constructive feedback. The meme schtick puppet thing is not selling your GAME. It comes across like you're trying to hide the game and are overcompensating. Why should people want to play it? What's its unique value proposition? What experience are people getting that they aren't getting from the other Smash clones?
Like I said - you have no IP here. So the game has to stand on its own two feet.
Like massive companies like WB and Sony have tried to do this WITH major IP attached and they still bombed.
You need a trailer that communicates WHY you made this game. What you feel you're bringing to this genre. You have 5-10 seconds to catch people's attention. Your trailer is almost 2 full minutes long which is an eternity. It's only that long to accommodate the song that y'all are so very clearly more proud of than the game itself.
Market. Your. Game.

If your point is that you’d like the trailer to explain the gameplay differences more clearly, that’s fair feedback. We can take that on board.
Knuckle Creek is a party brawler built around creating your own ridiculous characters, using items and environmental hazards, and causing chaos with up to eight players. Even eliminated players can keep interfering by dropping bombs and mines. We’re making something accessible to enjoy with your mates, and the trailer’s humour reflects that.
For context, we’re the team behind Platypus Reclayed, with the original Platypus creator on board. “Small team” describes our size, not our experience, and certainly wasn’t a request for sympathy. Knuckle Creek has been seven years in the making.
The quotes are deliberately fictional reviews delivered by puppets. We weren’t presenting Game Pirate and PC Vampire as established publications. Their editorial standards are admittedly difficult to verify.
You’re welcome to say the trailer didn’t sell the game to you - sorry! Guaranteeing that everyone who enjoyed it watched fifteen seconds, forgot it and will never buy it is speculation about people whose opinions are as valid as yours. Likewise, other publishers’ games succeeding or failing doesn’t establish what will happen to ours.
We agree that Knuckle Creek needs to stand on its own merits. That’s ultimately for people to judge by playing it. We appreciate the point about gameplay clarity, and we’re comfortable with the creative direction we’ve chosen.

Well, this is nightmare-inducingly cursed and not my type of game at all. But the execution is amazing. I'm sure it'll be a hit with the audience.

Bit of a cross between worms and smash. It's more party and weapon oriented. More slapstick, less serious certainly.

This trailer is the best I've seen in quite a while!
