💬 Discussion A brief note on how the electoral CPI(M) betrayed the indian revolutionary cause.

The CPI (marxist) a political party in india currently in power in the state of Kerala betrayed the cause of indian communism by siding with reactionaries.

Many people on the left including non-indian leftists seem to have a soft spot for the CPI(M) , many seem to think of them as the last bastion of the left in India. They praise the high literacy rates and the higher life expectancy , but what they are uanble see is the reactionary nature of the party and the atrocities they have committed.

For some context : India is a semi feudal country under the grip of neo-imperialism by the imperial core. One system of opression that still persists in India is caste oppression which is based in the ownership of land. The untouchable castes (dalits) disproportionately make up the landless peasants population, while the oppressor castes generally own disproportionate amount of land, there are also middle castes who own some land but not a lot, calculations[1] by scholars Nitin Tagade and Sukhadeo Thorat, based on the All-India Debt and Investment Survey, show that members of the Scheduled Castes, who account for 18% of the country’s households, own only 8.5% of the land in India. On the other hand, upper-caste Hindus, who make up 22% of the households, own 28% of the land, Caste isnt just confined to the rural parts of india, but also the urban parts although it’s orgins are in ownership of land, people are frequently not hired and not allowed to rent homes because of their caste in urban india too.

What has kerela done to address this system of oprression? Perhaps they have redistributed land ? Maybe collectivized agricultre? They did redistribute land but only above a certain land ceiling , big landlords still remained. Infact huge swathes of dalits and indigenous people in kerela are still landless. Among the landless population, indigenous people are overepresented. You the reader might ask what offical data we have , we do have date but not on a large scale ,why? Because the “communist” goverment refuses to do a caste census! It refuses to reveal how much wealth which castes have, because that would reveal the monopoly of certain castes economically. Triple exclusion of dalits in Land Ownership in kerela[2], a study published in the journal Social Change, shows that low rate of land ownership by them is the result of a exclusionsary policy by the goverment! Does this sound like something a communist goverment would do?

This isn’t all. The goverment has also been involved in massacares of dalits. The Marichjhapi massacre, when dalit refugees from bangladesh came to indian they settled in Marichjapi. Schools and hospitals were built and many were involved in pisciculture. A press blackout followed and survivors today say[3], huts were burned, woman were raped, wells poisoned. The survivors of the massacare still to this day have not gotten any Justice.

These are not the actions of a communist party but a reactionary one doused in red paint and communist aesthetics. Even today, the first dalit leader in the politburo of the party was only admitted in 2022, 58 years after it’s creation, how utterly shameful.

I hope by this article I am able to convince you, the reader ,why as leftists we shouldn’t support the CPI(M).

उनके शब-ए-जबर का ख़ौफ़ मर्दों में भी है,

मद्धम ही सही हमारे दिल में धड़कन अभी भी है।

Article Cornell Seven Exposes Oppression of Women & Lie of Bourgeois Justice

Innumerable cases of massacre, rape, and all other forms of violence are par for the course under this putrid and decaying capitalism.

The oppression of women was the first class oppression of humanity, stretching back much further than just capitalism. Engels states in chapter 2 of The Origin of the Family, Private Property and the State that “the first class opposition that appears in history coincides with the development of the antagonism between man and woman in monogamous marriage, and the first class oppression coincides with that of the female sex by the male.” Capitalism inherits the patriarchal property relations inherent within the family and intensifies them.

Today, women continue to be oppressed not only within the family through menial housework and economic dependence on the male (a phenomenon that, yes, continues even in the great United States and is even worse in the peripheral countries), but also through the commodification of their bodies and the alienation of wage slavery. Unrealizable beauty standards, the “male gaze”, and outright prostitution are some notable physical manifestations of converting human women into commodities. It is precisely the profit generating marketplace of modern day capitalism and familial domination of man over woman that determine machismo culture that feeds right into the abuse of women.

Treating women as objects to be acquired shapes how men see sexual access. Intimacy becomes something to be won or conquered.

And, we should add, anti-woman sentiment and alcohol are destructive and counter-revolutionary to the proletarian struggle. During the early days of the October Revolution, alcohol disoriented the Red Guards and handicapped their effectiveness at maintaining proletarian power at its most crucial moments. Prejudice towards women actively prevents and discourages their full and absolutely essential participation in the class struggle. The scale of the problem shows what is at stake.

It is a phenomenon that affects all sexes and all classes, but disproportionately affects poor proletarian women. Women from the lowest income brackets receive 12 times as much sexual victimization compared to the highest brackets. There is thus a double oppression in being a worker and a woman.

The relationship between the sexes is completely and utterly broken.

Women are angry. And dammit they should be! It is essential, however, to remember that salvation lies not in the interclass “girlboss” feminism of the CEO (sorry, fans of Taylor Swift!) nor in the “power” of voting, but rather in linking arms with fellow proletarians of all races and genders in the class war. Women must unite in class unions to wage strikes against their bosses for their most essential needs and join and lead within the Communist Party to take power and finally end their oppression themselves. Only the pursuit of communism goes beyond mere punitive measures and fixes the problem at its roots.

So long as there are classes, markets, commodities, and especially the family, women will continue to experience their gross oppression. We want to abolish the family by ending the material dependency of woman upon man and the property relation of parent over child. It means socializing housework and the absence of coercion in relationships that ought to be driven solely by love and not constrained or forced with the influence of money. Ultimately, it will be the “abolition of the monogamous family as the economic unit of society” (Engels).

The false solutions presented by the bourgeoisie are just a series of decapitating blows against the regenerating heads of the capitalist Hydra. By eliminating once and for all social classes and the family unit that have tainted humanity for several millennia, communism will deliver, in one fell swoop, the decapitation of all its heads while the flames of revolution will cauterize the stumps and damn the beast to Hell!

❓Questions Why are Telugu people so conservative?

I am a Telugu myself. You see, I love Telugu a lot. In fact, I have been studying the poetry structure and grammar to write poetry. I read a lot of Telugu literature as well.

But when I see Telugu people, whether offline or online, they seem very conservative. It feels hard to feel belonging among Telugu people because they are always pro-status-quo. Even meme pages have been making fun of CJP or NEET protests, vote chori, etc. Not one meme page showed support to students. Even many of the people around me were supporting police action against the students.

I am more interested in why this is the case. Of course, there are pockets of Telugu leftists, but I have never met them in real life. I could have asked this in Telugu subreddits like Ni_Bondha or something, but they are very regressive.

Why is this the case? I am interested to understand this because I know Andhra was the first linguistic state in India and how we fought for our dignity.

❓Questions Did Modi really brought better infrastructure to India?

M23, newbie communist here. Most of the arguments that I keep hearing from BJP supporter uncles in my circle are "Modi brought roads to our village by PMGSY, Congress didn't care about us", "BJP/NDA ruling states have more vertical development in infra whereas Non BJP ruling states like chennai have very poor vertical development", "Without BJP we don't have these many highways which makes our commute this much easier, before 2014 the highway network was very small and poor". These are almost true (to my knowledge, because I was a kid back then and I wouldn't have noticed how my village might've looked) because I witnessed even the left in my circle accepting that our village roads and highway network was shit before 2014 and had 0 signs of improvement. I am able to see a few liberals who have converted to bjp supporters because they say that congress and bjp functions the same but congress is incompetent and even though BJP does spread hatred they also do good stuff like this so it cancels out the bad stuff. Like how to counter this, and where can I learn unbiased truth about Indian history and politics, any materials like books, websites etc. TIA

💬 Discussion If there are no terrorist attacks right now .....

When security forces from every nook and cranny of the country are deployed in Delhi, it really makes one wonder how these attacks unfold with the supposed presence of the security personnel in the same region where an attack occurs.

If an attack doesn't happen now when such a large number of security forces are in Delhi to curb protests diverting them from sensitive areas, how do they happen when they are on deployment and who's really behind them? Is no action taken in those scenarios on purpose?

The preparedness of the government to intimidate people sure makes it seem like they can prevent any attack from unfolding in the first place.

Caste Suggestion required as a new communist in India

Hello. I am 19 yrs old, and since last year I've been seriously getting into communism. By seriously, I mean trying to get into the theory and following leftist/communist creators online and trying to think in a dialectical way. In reality, the only works of theory I've been able to get through are Principles Of Communism, SOME of What Is To Be Done? and very recently, Combat Liberalism. But my question is not about that.

For context, I am a bengali, studying in bangalore. Recently, I met a senior in my college, who is also a bengali. Naturally, we started talking and becoming friends. She is a nice person, truly, and in a completely different place, it's nice to have a person who atleast speaks your language. Being bengalis, politics has started to come up in our conversations. I have already made it clear that I consider myself to be a communist. Today, the topic of reservation came up. She is ,in a way,of the opinion that reservations, in some cases, are causing discrimination. Surprisingly, I found myself saying things like, " Caste reservation should be there, but economic conditions should also be checked", etc., etc. While coming back, however, I started to question and criticise myself, I do know that sc, st and obc people are terribly underrepresented in the economic sphere that is considered to be "well off".I do know that in the current form of government, any and every new reform would also become corrupted. This behaviour of mine has been bothering me ever since. For some context, till last year, I was suffering from social anxiety, which was at times, crippling. I still suffer from occasional bouts of anxiety. This year, I decided to combat that, marxist theories and the story of how "Lenin made friends wherever he went" DEFINITELY help me. And, I have made some progress. I do understand that it is important to criticise your self without letting it "get to you". But, it just hasn't left my mind. Especially since Mao calls this the sixth type of liberalism. I do understand the logical aspect of it all, but I just did not find the courage to combat her viewpoints, to such an extent that that need to please her opinions, clouded my own. Open to suggestions.

Protest/March ☭ Whether the protest happens tomorrow or not, know that the people succeeded.

This tyrannical government and its treacherous leadership might succeed in curbing tomorrow's (10/10/26) protest but it's evident from their actions that they are shook to their core and uneasy in conduct like a thief should be. They've taken the following measures until now:-

  1. Placed several leaders of various organisations like the CJP and student unions under house arrest. Along with detaining opposition leaders as well repeatedly.

  2. Curbed all trains from reaching NDLS and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations to prevent lakhs of people from joining the protest or reaching their homes (which would be the case for most).

  3. Kidnapping and violent suppression of any student gathering.

And many more things, please add to the list as the day progresses in the comments.

My intention to make this post is to reiterate and reassure everyone that this protest has succeeded before it even happened. The bravehearts who gathered the courage to travel to Delhi from all corners of the country won the moment they decided to be a part of the protest by stepping out of their comfort zones.

Please remember that the fight is as much about the mindset, narrative and way of thought of the masses as it is to show dissent on the ground. Even if this false government succeeds in curbing the protest, they can't change the disapproval which people have started to develop against them. Communalism, religious bigotry and hate speeches are becoming irrelevant in front of vote theft and the destruction of India's constitutional institutions.

We must keep this momentum going now and not rest till the government falls.

Inquilab Zindabad! Long live the revolution!

💬 Discussion Did Rahul Gandhi forget that Elon Musk is himself a vote chor in USA? Or the fact that he was begging Epstein to invite him to the island? Do Indian liberals not care about these things anymore? (and a deadbeat transphobe father)

What are your opinions on INC being clearly liberal and pro-capitalism? Is it really worth it to be cordial to someone like Elon Musk?

ngl when I saw the hypocrite oligarch Elon Musk calling out oligarchy in India, I somewhat expected a new discussion to unfold around Indian crony capitalists and their corruption using Elon as a catalyst. It's useful no doubt. But it looks like Rahul Gandhi will likely become the next PM after all and it's just problematic that he's talking to a neo nazi who uses his AI to make CSAM.
